Not seen The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo so can't comment on that:
1 Glenn Close "Albert Nobbs" 2 Meryl Streep "The Iron Lady" 3 Michelle Williams "My Week with Marilyn" 4 Viola Davis "The Help" These are all strong and quite hard to separate for me. Glenn just edges it as I like how subtle and quiet her performance is but I completely forgot I was watching her in the role after a little while so props to her for that. Meryl and Michelle were decent impersonations and both carried their movies which wouldn't have been the same without them. I liked Viola too but it's not one of my favourite performances by her and she suffers a bit from lack of screen-time in comparison to the others as well. I'm not sure who would round out my top five as I haven't seen the other contenders (such as Tilda Swinton or Bérénice Bejo), probably Kristen Wiig as I do like it when a good comedic performance gets recognised! |

Not seen a single one of those Oscar films! But I heard that Streep's performance was one for the ages.

Tilda Swinton was ROBBED of a nomination that year, just saying. Deserving winner though!

Tilda was robbed of a nom I agree. But I'd still rank Glenn over her. I don't think Viola deserved her nomination. She's good in The Help but I thought Emma Stone gave a stronger performance. Octavia and Jessica were stronget too, but they got their nods (Jessica robbed but can't argue with Octavia and her shit pie)

Tilda shouldn't have won, but a nom was so deserved for that devastating perfomance |
