BuzzJack Music Forum _ Sports and Fitness _ Sports & Fitness Forum Feature Request & Feedback Thread

Posted by: Mack 20th May 2015, 12:58 PM

What sports would you like to see more featured on the forum?

Do you have any suggestions of any games, polls or anything that you would like to do?

Post all requests on here.

Posted by: Dobbo 20th May 2015, 09:39 PM

For the next Premier League season there could be a prediction game of sorts where you predict the results/scores of all 10 matches each weekend? I see a few people sporadically post preds but could make a season-long competition!

Yes! I do this with my Dad and it's a lot of fun laugh.gif Or something at the start of the season where we predict the final leaderboards and tally them up at the end, I do that with my Dad too tongue.gif

This was done before a couple of seasons back:

How you feel May has gone for the sports forum?

All comments and opinions are welcome on here.

Posted by: Dobbo 1st June 2015, 05:04 PM

Very good! Now consistently in the top 10 forums in terms of posts & with plenty of active threads smile.gif

Posted by: Rooney 1st June 2015, 08:30 PM

Yeah it's good - there's a nice community here, which is most importantly insightful. I like the odd bit of football banter, but all of the regular posters in here are level headed (even if we can be a bit biased at times!!). All any forum needs are lots of topics. It's good that there's a range in here too!

How do feel that June has gone on here in the forum?

I feel that it has gone very well indeed with threads like "Summer Transfer Thread 2015, Wimbledon 2015 and others.

All opinions and comments are very much welcome on here.

What across the whole site? That's surprised me, is it counted every week or something? laugh.gif

Football coming back is obviously gonna create more traffic for the forum, especially the end of the Transfer Window and start of the Premier League.

Hopefully the Rugby World Cup gets justice when covered on here in the coming weeks.

Well Mack, I felt it was another very successful month for the Sports forum! Now a regular in the top 10 weekly forums and plenty of participation in the Premier League Predictions thread every week smile.gif

Rugby World Cup & F1 keeping things ticking over nicely, onwards & upwards!

Posted by: Hazza Chapman 1st October 2015, 11:40 PM

I think September just like August was a very good month for the Sports forum. All of the discussions in the football related threads have been enjoyable to read and participate in. The Premier League prediction game has been fun to be a part of as well.

It's definitely my favourite forum on Buzzjack at the moment!

Merry Christmas to you all. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this forum this year and again thank you to the admin and global moderators for choosing me as the Most Hard Working Mod of 2015. It means a lot to me.

Just wishing you all a Happy New Year.

How people feel 2015 was for the sports forum? Just a quick review if you have any spare time.

Posted by: Hazza Chapman 1st January 2016, 07:22 PM

2015 was a great year for the Sports Forum! I really enjoyed the discussions in the threads that were created there and in particular the Premier League Prediction competition was my favourite thread.

2016 will be an even better year with the conclusion of the 2015/16 Premier League with plenty of twists and turns to come along the way. There's also Euro 2016 to look forward to with an expanded number of teams participating. And after 4 years of waiting the Olympic games will take place in Rio so the Sports forum could very well become the #1 forum in terms of activeness in a few months time.

Posted by: Rooney 3rd January 2016, 06:53 PM

I think you're both doing a great job - they key is just making sure there is interesting content. 2016 will be great as well with the Euros & Olympics - there will be a lot of interest from outside the regulars. I always make separate threads for the England games (and bigger games such as semi finals and final).

But real good effort, and a real good little community in here which is great to see.

Posted by: Mack 4th February 2016, 06:58 PM

If anyone has any spare time, would you be able to do a logo for the Buzzjack Sports Forum Twitter Page by any chance?

Are there any sports that you would like to see featured more on the forum?

Posted by: Houdini 30th August 2016, 05:04 PM

I would suggest boxing but I don't personally watch enough boxing to discuss it regularly here but maybe if other people on Buzzjack watch boxing frequently then that could be featured here. When Antony Joshua fought Dillian Whyte last year it crossed my mind to make a thread about it but in the end I didn't because I thought no one else here would watch the fight.

Posted by: PeteFromLeeds 30th August 2016, 05:20 PM

I'd like cycling to be featured more, but I don't know if anyone else watches it

I think a cricket and a rugby thread would be good idea. biggrin.gif

Cricket is my second favourite sport after football. I'm not really a rugby fan myself, but I'd imagine a few on here might be?...

How do you feel the sports forum is going for you?

I think it was a great month myself Mack! Plenty of discussion & consistently in the top 10 weekly forums.

Things will hopefully improve even more this month with the new F1 season commencing among other notable topics.

I feel April (and March as didn't comment then) went reasonably well for the Sports Forum! Lots of discussion with the conclusion of various football divisions among other selected topics.

Posted by: bigwiglaf 4th May 2017, 06:31 PM

Looks like I'd need to read up more on snooker, since I really have a lack of understanding on it....same with cricket...both threads are interesting to me, though...

Good to see the sports forum hovering in/around the top 10 regularly...

Posted by: Benteke 5th May 2017, 07:38 AM

April went well,

Could have had more posters on the World Snooker Championship thread and for the Grand National thread.

Posted by: Dobbo 6th June 2017, 08:37 PM

I expect May will be the last time we'll be seeing the Forum in the weekly top 10 Charts for a while but it was a fun with the conclusion of the Premier League & Prediction threads.

At least there'll be Wimbledon, World Matchplay (well at least for us 2) & the F1 season to keep us going through an otherwise uninteresting Summer of Sport from a personal viewpoint.

The summer transfer thread, F1, football fixtures will also keep us through. Would be great to see the forum in the Top10 in the next 2 months though.

Posted by: Houdini 6th June 2017, 10:39 PM

There is the Athletics World Championships coming up soon as well, it's a shame the Olympic games couldn't be held this year instead of last year. June or July would have been a perfect time for the games to take place.

I haven't been active at all recently/last month (away for most of it) so haven't contributed all that much but with the Confed Cup & Summer transfer threads there was healthy enough discussion here! Enough for an appearance in the top 10 forums recently, off-season! Well done all cheer.gif

Looking ahead to this month we have Wimbledon, 3 Grands Prix & the neverending supply of BS transfer news to tie us over (among other topics).

Oh, and the World Matchplay for us two Mack!

How do people feel July went for you on the sports forum?

All comments and feedback are welcome.

Sorry if I've been a bit quiet on here recently, because of being sore with whiplash following a crash on Saturday f*** that bought it all back from when I got run over when I was 16. I'm all right now thanks.

Posted by: Dobbo 1st August 2017, 06:11 PM

That's good to hear Mack, sounds like a scary incident.

I felt July was pretty successful considering it was still off-season. Wimbledon, the World Matchplay & a busy F1 month were my personal highlights.

Of course we're now fast approaching the return of the Football season so that along with another hopefully active PL Prediction thread bodes well for the immediate future!

Posted by: Houdini 2nd August 2017, 12:49 PM

Glad that you're feeling better after your accident Mack.

I think July was alright for the Sports forum, Wimbledon, Summer transfers and Formula One kept discussion going here. Really glad that August is here though as we've got the return of the football season as previously mentioned and the World Athletics Championships start in a few days so it should be an even more active month for this forum.

I'm looking forward to the Premier League prediction competition starting again and hopefully some more people will sign up for the fantasy football leagues that I created for Buzzjack ahead of the first game which is taking place next Friday.

Would be nice to see it edge back into the top 10 weekly forums but that will be a big ask with another international break imminent...

I think 2018 could be the best year of all time for this forum. The FIFA World Cup in June/July should see the Sports forum reach it's highest level of activeness. We'll be bound to have posters who don't usually post here take part in threads during that time.

I feel whilst the Forum itself went reasonably well, I haven't been too invested in Sports myself of late. But that should pick up in coming months of course with CL returning & new F1 season.

The PDC Darts Final & Australian Open were my highlights last month.

Also not certain on how well we're doing in the weekly Forums stats.

Very well Mack, very well! I mean, the numbers in the early weeks of the month spoke for themselves - we were running third (!) behind the big 2 in the Weekly Forums posts, certainly nosebleed territory.

The World Cup was not only a success for England but for the Sports Forum, really was great to see such an array of names posting regularly in here. See y'all back here in 2 years.

Also had 4 Grands Prix, Wimbledon & The Matchplay last month amongst other things so things were ticking over very nicely indeed.

Looking ahead of course the big story is the Premier League is back with the accompanying Predictions thread so I sense another boost in activity heading into August biggrin.gif

As expected to now be consistently out of the top 10 weekly forums but to be quite honest, what does anyone expect?

With talk of now Sport being slowly phased back I think we have good reason to believe those numbers will rise & we'll be back to chipping away at the league table. I, myself haven't contributed enough during this period (there's always top 10s, opinion-driven chats etc., look-backs/nostalgia trips to continue discussion) but let's keep a brave face on and return with a bang!

Posted by: Mack. 6th May 2020, 03:49 PM

If anyone can any suggestions, at all in what you like to see, then feel free to mention it.

I did expect to be out of the Top 10 this month.

Cheers, dobbo. It is very much appreciated.

It looks like there was a healthy increase of discussion in the Sports forum during May compared with April and March which is good for the forum. June looks like it could be even better if all goes according to plan with the return of a number of sports during this month.

Posted by: Dobbo 2nd June 2020, 10:18 AM

Great that we managed to sneak back in to the top 10 weekly forums despite the sporting calendar being shredded to pieces! Shows what a robust & gusty little community we have here. My highlights have been the regular quizzes & Severin's top 50 drivers thread.

As Houdini alludes to June is the month we will (hopefully!) see a long-awaited return of many sports so I would hope to see discussion potentially get back to the levels we were seeing pre-pandemic!

Contributions fallen slightly to knock us out of the top 10 weekly forums but it's always quality over quantity in my book. I really enjoyed March on this forum, Mack.

The business end of the football season should produce plenty of discussion, not least starting from tonight with the tasty CL & EL QFs.

Posted by: Houdini 6th April 2021, 03:27 PM

There's the Euro's and (if it goes ahead) the Olympics to come this summer so that should get some casual interest to add to things as well. I also think March was a good month for the forum especially when you compare it to March of 2020 and as Dobbo said we're now at the business end of the football season or "squeaky bum time" as Sir Alex Ferguson would say!

Not sure if this is a productive idea given there are already so many threads to discuss football in general, but have you ever trialled specific club related threads? As there are quite a few Manchester United fans that post a lot in the Sports & Fitness forum in various football threads, and as it’s a club under heavy scrutiny at present, would it be a good idea to have a club thread for this team in the Sports forum, and of course any other clubs that matters to the members of the Sports & Fitness forum?

Like I said, it might not be a good idea, potentially divisive, but just a minor idea I had today.

Mad consistency after that small blip in the top 10 weekly forums!

October was pretty action packed with the Premier League really taking shape now and no fewer than 7 races across F1 & MotoGP to follow.

November and December should be the big ones though with the much-anticipated World Cup and potentially a lot more traffic from non-regulars!

Glad we've remained a mainstay in the top 10 weekly forums as at times it felt a little dry on activity (partly myself to blame). Well, a few of the seasonal comps have drawn to a close now and we've just a couple of big finals to go in the football calendar. Motorsports & Wimbledon will take my central attention for the summer months.

We're always solid in the bottom half of the top 10 weekly forums. With the Premier League returning this month, I want to see us breach that top 5 once again punch.gif

Well it has been a pretty barren month but that's understandable. Strong showing in the final week there.
