28th February 2016

It’s a 4th week for Faded, that’s the whole of February on top, but there are 4 top 5 climbers hot on it’s heels. Pet Shop Boys first official single from Super replaces Inner Sanctum in the top 10, up 31 places to 2. Not many PSB singles peak at 2, so next week should see if they can keep up the chart-toppers. David Bowie gets yet another classic in the top 3 as Oh You Pretty Things replaces Changes in the top 3, appropriately all very Hunky Dory. Bomba Estereo groove to 4, up 20 places, and Vaults vaults 10 to 5 with the movie soundtrack song, her first top 10. Not seen the film yet.

Up 81 places, probably the biggest jump ever in my charts (being as I rarely have a top 100!) it’s the very late Sammy Davis Jr with the help of a fab Sky advert landing at 15, his highest ever chart placing and 4 years since Rhythm Of Life charted. There are, depressingly, a plethora of late music stars in my charts. Of the new ones, FKA Twigs gets her first top 20 with a lovely toon, and King (not the 80’s pop stars) go top 30 with the lovely The Greatest. Josef Salvat gets his first top 30, and Primal Scream and Holly Johnson return to the top 40 with new tracks, Holly’s is his biggest since the 80’s!

Others: I’ve been to see the fab Deadpool, which has a great soundtrack of oldies, 4 of them enter (Chordettes Back To The Future classic Mister Sandman; DMX; Neil Sedaka; Ray Charles), while there’s a song contest invasion of new stuff, and a few non-BJSC new tracks, including a welcome return to 6-years-absent Corinne Bailey Rae, who last hit my top 10 in 2010.

Hi John! I see Florence is still continuing that incredible chart run, not just the queen of peace but the queen of your chart it would seem. Fab return single from Birdy, she continues to impress. Cake By The Ocean is super catchy, looking forward to it impacting the UK. Surprised When We Were Young is a new entry as I recall you charting other songs on her album...hope to see it climb anyway! Ex Cops finally dropping out but what a run, best of luck to you on the current UP contest!

Hi Riser, Yes Flo is about to enter the all-time 50 greats in my chart "sales". That's pretty successful! love that Birdy single, shame it's under-performed. DNCE should become a hit, hopefully, so you were ahead of the game there! laugh.gif When We Were Young entered last December, so technically it's a re-entry - I just like to keep separate chart runs if they are in different years for records entering my charts after a suitable gap. well remembered! Good luck to you in UP too, I have my suspicions which might be yours, but I may be totally wrong (I never guessed Ex Cops and that was the record of the contest last time) cheer.gif

cheers!
