BuzzJack Music Forum _ Pop _ Fifth Harmony Rate - THE RESULTS

Posted by: Sean. 13th June 2015, 03:28 PM

So results are coming over the next few days! biggrin.gif

Any predictions as to which track is Worth It to smash to the top and which ones will fall sooner rather than later?

Posted by: JosephStyles 13th June 2015, 03:38 PM

Leave My Heart Out Of This to not be as low as I'm expecting it to be please sad.gif

It's gonna do better than you think x

21. Like Mariah

Kicking off our results in last place, is a track that apparently is quite unliked and that is "Like Mariah". For a debut album, Reflection contains a lot of name dropping but this is the only track on the album that has a name in it's title. For me this is where the track belongs so I am happy it has ended up coming in last place as Camila's vocals are TRULY grating on this track and I think that might be shown in the fact this song didn't get a single 11! kink.gif

I think this should have been left open until there album comes out over here which is very soon I believe ? You would have probably got more rates and feedback. Looking forward to the results however smile.gif

Given the BO$$ preorder changed several times over here and the album in the US changing several times, I ain't holdin' my breath for it's scheduled release in a few weeks kink.gif

In all fairness I'm the same, all I can remember is the intro and some cringe vocal from Cabello rotf.gif

Movin' on to the first fatality from Better Together, we can almost hear Joseph crying at this wink.gif

20. Leave My Heart Out Of This

As I said before, we have our first fatality from the groups debut EP 'Better Together'. For me I find this ridiculously forgettable in comparison to some of the stronger tracks on the EP, but Dinah's vocals in that acoustic above are just perfect! Queen Dinah for the win wub.gif

Joseph this one is for you! kink.gif

Posted by: *Tim 14th June 2015, 10:13 AM

Nearly that whole EP was tragic so not surprised. I liked Like Mariah tho

Posted by: Nick F1 14th June 2015, 10:25 AM

Body Rock ftw

Posted by: JosephStyles 14th June 2015, 11:54 AM

You guys are CRAZY. I mean I've only heard the EP once but that track really stood out to me!

Posted by: Sean. 14th June 2015, 04:36 PM

Ignoring Joseph's minor meltdown, we move on...

19. All I Want For Christmas is You

Yes, I shamefully sat and watched the video again as an excuse to listen to this amazing cover. Covering Mariah, the girls delivered a good vocal and a really cute video which for me is a lot better than the original. I'd have liked to have seen them deliver a full Christmas EP but taking part in a label EP was more than satisfying. Apart from myself who gave this an eleven, Liam gave is a 09 whereas some of you need to reevaluate your taste (kidding!) having given it a 0. I hope one day the girls release their own original Christmas tracks in turn as to the likes of Kelly Clarkson, but for now I want December to hurry up so this can be played guilt free! laugh.gif

Posted by: Sean. 14th June 2015, 04:38 PM

18. Suga Muma

Up next we have a track that Meghan Trainor had a hand in writing, being both a label-mate and close friend of the girls. Suga Muma comes in at number 18, with Dion and Nick both giving it 8/8.5 a piece, as did American Oxygen and Joseph! Some of the lower scorers seem to have averaged this between a 3 and 6. Wikipedia describes this track as the girls shaking off lazy dudes, which is something I'd expect from a girl group which contains Normani who is full of sass 99% of the time! This track didn't achieve a single 10 or 11 either and is the only Trainor penned track across the rate not to achieve a score of 11! Movin' on next, what does everyone want to come out next - predictions please! biggrin.gif

Posted by: Sean. 14th June 2015, 04:42 PM

Here are the rankings so far and the total score for each song:

21. Like Mariah: 64.5
20. Leave My Heart Out Of This: 65
19 All I Want For Christmas: 68
18. Suga Muma: 72.5

Tomorrow's batch of results sees two "Better Together" tracks and two "Reflection" tracks going. There is literally half a mark between Suga Muma and the next track! ohmy.gif

Posted by: Sean. 15th June 2015, 06:46 AM

17. Don't Wanna Dance Alone

And so we have the first fatality of today's batch of results! Not to be confused with The Jam produced and overly horrific "Don't Let Me Dance Alone" from The Saturday's last studio album "Don't Let Me Dance Alone", we lose another Better Together track! In comparison to the other tracks on the EP this just isn't as good for me and apparently a few of you think that based on some diverse ranges in the scores, the lowest of which being a 5.

Oh, I like that one. sad.gif

16. Them Girls Be Like

Them Girls Be Like comes in at 16. I can't make my mind up over this song - referencing everything from social media to Mean Girls ("YOU CAN'T SIT WITH US!"), this song definitely is different from anything I've heard from a girl band in recent times. One minute I like it, the next I don't! However DJHazey gave this a 9 so at least we have one lover of this song on Buzzjack!

Posted by: Sean. 15th June 2015, 07:03 PM

15. Better Together

As we enter into the top fifteen, the title track from the girls debut EP "Better Together" is the next to fall out. Far more enjoyable than some of the tracks from Reflection apparently, so I am slightly confused as to why I gave this a four! Liam, troylovesmusic and Dion are among the highest ranking on this one. The guitar in the acoustic video above is just perfection and this is actually a track in which Camila is slightly tolerable. This track also served as a promotional single from the EP as well.

Posted by: Hurricane 15th June 2015, 07:08 PM

I forgot how that one goes as well tbh.

Oh Hurricane! kink.gif

Sorry everyone about the delay in results, have been on a loop of working and volunteering these last few weeks/days in particular, will be done by the end of the weekend! biggrin.gif

14. Top Down

Unfortunately this one isn't at the top and isn't down the bottom either so landing just under the halfway mark is "Top Down" which to me is a great opening. The track took a while to grow on me but some of the lyrics I find are a bit annoying - especially Normani's "woke up realer" which sounds a bit odd to me! Most of the scores were up the higher end of the scale between 6 and 10 but LeeWallace was one of the lowest raters with this one! The Reflection tour sees the girl sit in a car to match the lyrics of the track as well! Aside the rate, here is what some of Buzzjack have said about the opening track/where it ranks in their favourites!

QUOTE(lewistgreen @ Mar 31 2015, 02:05 PM) *
The 3 singles (obv.), Top Down, This Is How We Roll, Like Mariah, We Know, Going Nowhere and Brave Honest Beautiful wub.gif

'This Is How We Roll' and 'Top Down' are definitely the stand-outs aside from the three singles for me but it's a very enjoyable album overall! Great debut wub.gif

13. Everlasting Love

Buzzjack you disappoint me! Realistically one of like three ballads the girls have released, Everlasting Love comes in at 13. To me this is one of my favourite tracks on the album and if you're in The Saturdays or Little Mix forums, you'll know I am a total sucker for girl band ballads wub.gif this track is absolutely stunning both vocally and lyrically but I am glad it didn't rank too badly in the end! Most of the scores were 7's and 8's but I just had to give this a 10! Ally really shines on this track and I'd have loved for this to be a single? Will it? Probably not given it doesn't scream summer ballad smash whatsoever and with rumours of a rerelease I am going to bite my tongue on this one for now! laugh.gif

Note: This and Top Down both achieved the same score, just ordering alphabetically laugh.gif

Posted by: Sean. 17th June 2015, 06:48 PM

12. Going Nowhere

Not to be confused with the track by Little Mix, up next is Going Nowhere. For some reason I think it was last night I had some of the lyrics come to me a in a dream but unfortunately that has not swayed my judgement. I believe this is on the deluxe version of Reflection - American Oxygen gave this a 10 whereas Tim gave it a 06 and there were a few 5's in the rate too. Scoring a respectable 83 points, there is literally 0.5 between this song and the next track(s)!

Posted by: Hurricane 17th June 2015, 08:14 PM

Top Down is amazing, shame. sad.gif sad.gif

Posted by: Sean. 18th June 2015, 08:38 PM

11. We Know

Again, for 11 we have a rank between this and another track, both scoring 83.5. The lowest score for this track was a five, which I am quite pleased about. The girls sing about knowing all about a guy and how much of a player he is and I believe this was one of the earlier tracks to be recorded for the album? Who knows, but all we know is this just missed out on making the final cut!

Posted by: Hurricane 19th June 2015, 03:10 PM

I actually LOVE We Know. Should have given it a higher score.

10. Body Rock

As we move swiftly into the top ten, we have Body Rock in joint ranking with "We Know", both scoring 83.5. Not a bad start to the top ten, but more surprises lie in store in time of course!

Posted by: Sean. 22nd June 2015, 09:12 AM

09. Who Are You

Up next, scoring 85.5 is "Who Are You". My question is who are you, Buzzjack!? This song is absolutely stunning and is up there with my all time favourite girl time ballad, possibly challenging My Heart Takes Over and I Hate This Part for sure. Having had a hand in writing the song (:wub), the girls and Camila describe the song as a relationship which goes from one extreme to the other which I think is exceptionally relatable. For me this is such a standout track on the Better Together tracklisting. Would I rank this higher than number nine? Most definitely.

Posted by: Sean. 22nd June 2015, 09:12 AM

08. Me & My Girls

Another song that the girls had a hand in writing which also comes from Better Together is Me & My Girls. I believe this was the B-Side to Miss Movin' On but also appears on the EP itself. Out of all their videos this is probably the most fun for me!

Posted by: Sean. 22nd June 2015, 09:16 AM

The results currently look like this.

21. Like Mariah: 64.5
20. Leave My Heart Out Of This: 65
19. All I Want For Christmas: 68
18. Suga Muma: 72.5
17. Don't Wanna Dance Alone: 73
16. Them Girls Be Like: 75.5
15. Better Together: 79.5
14. Top Down: 82.5
13. Everlasting Love: 82.5
12. Going Nowhere: 83
11. We Know: 83.5
10. Body Rock: 83.5
09. Who Are You: 85.5
08. Me & My Girls: 88

Which means the following tracks are left: Miss Movin' On, Boss, Sledgehammer, Worth It, This Is How We Roll, Reflection and Brave Honest Beautiful.

PREDICTIONS PLEASE! biggrin.gif

Posted by: *Tim 22nd June 2015, 10:15 AM

Bo$$, Sledgehammer, Worth It, This Is How We Roll, Brave Honest Beautiful.

Only here for these, so they should be the top 5 with Worth It or Bo$$ snatching the win and Brave Honest Beautiful completeing the top 3

Posted by: Sean. 23rd June 2015, 07:36 AM

07. Reflection

"I ain't talkin' about you I'm talkin' to ma' own reflection" is quite possibly my favourite lyric from the album "Reflection". So it pains me a little bit to see "Reflection" come in at number seven. The poor host in this video can't even introduce the song because Camila rudely interrupts (if you haven't noticed yet I REALLY don't like her). Luckily Queen Dinah explains that the song is about talking to a guy and then going "jokes I was on about me", so this is definitely another sass filled song from the album and a real girl power tune! Single material? Definitely! Scoring 94.5, Reflection sits comfortably inside the top ten.

Posted by: Sean. 23rd June 2015, 07:44 AM

06. Miss Movin' On

Movin' onto number six, we have the girls debut single Miss Movin' On which is your traditional girl band break up song. Swiftly released after their finishing on X-Factor, the girls launched the Better Together campaign with this cute little number, which mostly scored nines and eights across the rate with Hurricane's 5 being ignored for obvious reasons wink.gif kink.gif (kidding, obvs)

Posted by: Sean. 24th June 2015, 09:33 AM

05. This Is How We Roll

Rollin' in next at number six we have This Is How We Roll, produced by Dr Luke. Definitely proving popular on Buzzjack, this track managed to achieve 99.5 and is only just infront of Miss Movin' On. A maturer sound from what we saw on the debut EP, This Is How We Roll reminds me a bit of Scream & Shout by Will I Am & Britney, but still an earworm!

Posted by: Sean. 24th June 2015, 09:38 AM

04. Brave Honest Beautiful

Somewhere in the American countryside, Meghan Trainor is weeping. Up next we have a Trainor penned track with Brave Honest Beautiful, which to me SCREAMS single potential. This track has proven really popular and has scored plenty of elevens and tens across the whole rate landing it in fourth place with 108.5. Probably my favourite Fifth Harmony track from Reflection, I am astounded to see this not make the tracklisting of the standard edition as it's pop perfection and another girl power song which is stunning.

Come on 'Sledgehammer'!

Posted by: Sean. 25th June 2015, 05:22 PM

Everyday is payday, swipe my card, then I do the nae nae. Really, payday isn't everyday especially if you're looking at my bank account (lol). Up next is the debut single from the album; "BO$$" (Boss) was released last summer and peaked at number 43 on the American charts and 21 here in the UK despite it's American-centric lyrics in places. Definitely a distinctive track which works well as a single release, this has performed relatively well out of all the other tracks in the rate and I am so glad there is a lot of appreciation for this track. There are comparisons on Buzzjack to this being a more urban version of Little Mix's "Salute", but for me this speaks much more volume in terms of girl power and independence. JosephStyles and LeeWallace gave BO$$ a score of 11 as did DJHazey with plenty of 10's to go around elsewhere. As we drift into the top two, it is a shown down between "Worth It" and "Sledgehammer" but which one is gonna be worth it and smash to first place?

Posted by: Kuki Sanban 25th June 2015, 10:59 PM

Sledgehammer FTW!!!!!

Posted by: Sean. 26th June 2015, 08:34 AM

And in second place we have "Worth It", which is currently smashing worldwide and is set to be released in the UK in the coming weeks along with the album "Reflection". The song has two interpretations - one of a girl being worth it in terms of sexual relations but in the sense the girls promote the song, about female empowerment. A catchy tune featuring Kid Ink, the video does give off a lazy vibe and reminds me a tad of Gentleman. I'm hoping this can do well in the UK as it's proved popular here on Buzzjack with a score of 118.

Hitting you next like a Sledgehammer is the follow up single to the debut "BO$$". Written by fellow labelmate Meghan Trainor (wub.gif), the song is lyrically about being close to someone you like and Lauren of the band has described this as more sensual in comparison to BO$$. Across Buzzjack this garnered mix reviews with some comparing the video to something to that of which The Saturdays would produce, but that hasn't stopped it from gaining plenty of 10's and a score of 11 from americanoxygen. Personally I think this would have been a better lead for the UK market instead of being included on the BO$$ single and I am so glad that this has performed well in this rate having snatched the top spot from current single "Worth It" with a comfortable 129.5 points!
