PJ Harvey was surely already going to do a drop from about 1-15 even without Prince factored in, so I wonder if she might be about to 'do a Bionic'?

Christina Aguilera set the bar quite high with the drop to 29, Not inconceivable that PJ Harvey will drop that far but it is a week where the new releases list is a bit thin. How many Prince Albums are we expecting in the Top 30? About 15 if the Amazon Best Sellers list is anything to go by.

I suspect nowhere near tbh. I can't see her suffering a much worse sales decrease than The Lumineers and I can't see the threshold to the Top 30 being increased to ~4.5-5k.

She'll probably drop to around 18 or 19, though it won't be long before we see that record broken by a fan base act if the market continues to weaken.

I'd hazard a guess that she'll sell another 3,500-4,000 this week, which would have been enough for the 14-16 region last week, and assuming 5 or 6 Prince albums file in above it might *just* cling into the top 20. I do agree with Dr Blind that I don't think Xtina's will keep that record for much longer.

While Prince will lose out on number 1 in the singles Purple Rain should manage a new peak which is good. His albums will sell for a good few weeks to come. I agree the record company need to release an updated Greatest Hits.

Looks like Beyonce won't be on Spotify...

LEMONADE: DOWNLOAD TONIGHT, TIDAL FOREVER
Sources close to the situation say that Beyoncé's new set, Lemonade (Columbia), will be available for download on iTunes and Amazon tonight, and physical product will arrive later in the week. Tidal will have a permanent exclusive on the streaming front. There is, these sources add, no plan to take the album wide on that platform.

The exclusion of Spotify, and other services with freemium tiers, for streaming is the latest manifestation of Sony's windowing efforts to limit free access, following the success with Adele's 25, which was kept off streaming services except for single "Hello" and achieved astronomical sales.

I massively underestimated Prince in the singles chart, Purple Rain WILL make the top 10. When Doves Cry looks like it'll manage top 15 too.

Drake sold 19.3k yesterday and 'Purple Rain' managed 6.7k - definitely staying Top 10 and likely a new peak!

Album sales are horrific when you remove Prince - Katherine Jenkins is on 3.6k and sold less than 400 copies yesterday, eek! Sia sold the most yesterday outside of Prince (for The Very Best of Prince, he sold 5k yesterday). FYI, PJ Harvey is #16.

Beyonce sold 68k digitally in only 2 days in 2013. I know it was Q4 last time, but that usually only gives physical albums a big increase in sales, and Beyonce has twice as long to sell this time. Prince is looking to do 45kish, so it could be an interesting battle, considering how easily and quickly she overtook Prince on iTunes. Anti hugely under-performed but I do wonder how much all the millions of free copies she gave away effected that.

That's abysmal for Katy B, any hype around her album release has been swallowed by Prince and Beyonce.

Yeah, I would imagine it will end up being pretty close between Beyonce and Prince.

To think if Prince hasn't unfortunately passed and Bey hadn't released we would have had a #1 album with about 7,000 sales though ohmy.gif

Thanks Liam

Katherine Jenkins would have been #1 on very low sales, Katy B would have been #8 at least without the Prince albums, not bad given the situation.

I can see Drake staying at #1 for a few weeks yet, hardly new releases in the next 2 to 3 weeks.

Looking at the price of 'Lemonade', I am not sure it will do it as I feel like paying £13.99 may put a lot of people off.

The price is so high due to the film obviously but if you were to buy every track individually without the film, you would only be paying £11.88. If someone buys every single song on the album individually will that count as an album purchase or will that just go towards each song individually on the singles chart?
