New single out tomorrow, 7:30pm on Radio 1!

Posted by: gavindeejay 19th September 2018, 08:31 PM

About time! Hopefully the new album will come before Christmas!

Posted by: pippa 19th September 2018, 09:00 PM

It is likely the album will come in the last quarter.
It will be very interesting to see how the new album will be received.
Their last album didnt sell nearly aswell as the others,.

Posted by: gavindeejay 19th September 2018, 09:24 PM

Their last album was released in Q2 if I remember correctly. A Q4 will give them more Christmas sales as well as more promo opportunities. It’ll be interesting to see if they go back to their old sound or stick with the sound from their last album or something different?

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 19th September 2018, 10:04 PM

They've played it live a few times, I'm really liking it!

Posted by: Bjork 20th September 2018, 05:49 AM

for what I read they're not going back to the album 1 sound and stickling to album 3 sound, anyone can confirm?

they've had quite the long break this time, so hopefully enough time to write great songs (again)

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 20th September 2018, 11:06 AM

I totally thought they'd been away since 2012, I wasn't even aware of a third album. ohmy.gif

Posted by: Bjork 20th September 2018, 11:28 AM

in the third album they kinda changed musical direction, abandoning the banjos and replacing them with guitars
cost them a lot of fans I'd say + there songs were not as good

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 20th September 2018, 11:32 AM

On paper, that sounds to me like they basically became Kings of Leon. Am I warm?

Posted by: Klaus 20th September 2018, 11:59 AM

The third album is really quite underrated!

Yes, there’s nothing ground-breaking there and it largely doesn’t even touch the first album. However, I still ADORE Believe and Ditmas is also fantastic.

They’re kind of stuck in a whole because they were criticsed for the overuse of banjos and Babel did feel like rejects from Sigh Mo More (which it essentially was anyway) but then the guitars angered all the fans.

Posted by: Bjork 20th September 2018, 12:23 PM

Imho they didn't need that radical departure in sound, they need to find a balance, some banjos is nice, too many banjos I agree is annoying, but they didn't need to go from 100% to 0% banjos, of course they alienated a lot of fans
agreed the lead single Believe was pretty good and a couple of singles were not half bad
but there was nothing remotely on par with Little Lion Man or Winter winds

but I'm still hopeful and hoping they've had plenty of time to work on songs without hurry

Posted by: Bjork 20th September 2018, 08:14 PM

album is called Delta out Nov 16

first single

Posted by: gavindeejay 20th September 2018, 08:17 PM

Really like this! Great to see the new albums out on my birthday! smile.gif

Posted by: Hans 20th September 2018, 08:21 PM

"The Wolf" and "Believe" from "Wilder Mind" I still thoroughly enjoy! Loved them at the time. Became karaoke staples too tongue.gif

This new one isn't hitting on first listen, but "Believe" was the same, I went on to love that one, and it feels like a similar structure.

Posted by: gavindeejay 20th September 2018, 08:27 PM

Can anyone else hear a slight hint of U2 in this or is it just me?

Posted by: Steve201 20th September 2018, 11:54 PM

These guys came back out of nowhere and the albums out soon too!! Class to see, Q4 needed more big returns as I'm sure we'll have Adele in 2019!!

So are they still big enough to get a instant A list of playlist add tomorrow?

tracklist
https://genius.com/albums/Mumford-and-sons/Delta

it's produced by Paul Epworth (Adele, Florence) so that's already promising

Yes it reminds me of a bit of 'Where The Streets Have No Name'.

New single 'If I Stay' releasing tomorrow at 5pm!

Posted by: gavindeejay 24th October 2018, 06:57 PM

Great news. Looking forward to it smile.gif

Posted by: Bjork 24th October 2018, 07:10 PM

new single already? Guiding Light was fantastic but could have done with more support, think it's only been b-listed by R1
worst part of course it's always Spotify, Guiding Light has been on HH for a while but always at the very bottom, which is useless

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 25th October 2018, 04:23 PM

Not feeling the new one tbh, a bit slow for me.

Posted by: Bjork 25th October 2018, 06:28 PM

love it! different but equally good

Posted by: Steve201 25th November 2018, 10:44 PM

What does everyone think of this album - after first listen it was pretty boring for me!

Posted by: Bjork 26th November 2018, 08:33 AM

I'm a big fan but yes the album is a bit of a let down,
I really like Guiding Light the single, thats easily the best on there album
I'd say it's kinda similar to Wilder Mild but a bit worst, miles away from the brilliant first 2 albums

Disappointing album rather than boring Id say

Posted by: T Boy 26th November 2018, 05:54 PM

It’s not making much impression on me. Easily the least favourite album I’ve bought this year.

I had high hopes after purchasing the vinyl of Sigh No More a few weeks before and relived how great that album was.

Posted by: Steve201 26th November 2018, 10:13 PM

Sign No More is a masterpiece!

Posted by: Steve201 3rd February 2019, 10:48 PM

Is there no other planned releases from this? Campaign seems to have just stopped!!

I was thinking about this the other day when I heard 'Little Lion Man' on the pub jukebox. I should imagine they'll announce something before the end of the month.

Posted by: gavindeejay 5th February 2019, 07:06 PM

'Beloved' has been announced as the next single

"Mumford & Sons have announced Beloved as the second single from their acclaimed fourth album, Delta.

Delta dropped straight at the top of US Billboard chart upon release, for the third time in as many albums. It simultaneously entered the UK chart at 2 in a last gasp chart battle with Michael Buble and Little Mix.

Upon release, Mumford & Sons quickly took Delta out on tour, selling out arenas in the UK, the US and recently completing a run in Australia and New Zealand. Moving their huge multi-platformed stage into the centre of the round, it’s a show that suggests to their fans a more intimate performance within a typically vast setting. With the band and an assortment of additional brass and string players in full flow, it makes for a rousing, jubilatory spectacle".

Good to see, I do wonder if radio 1 will drop them though, felt they weren't totally on board with Guiding Light and held back from A listing it until late on. Felt a bit like their support for the Killers last material!

Radio 1 still play ‘The Man’ quite a lot so I’d stil say their support for The Killers is there. I’d think they’d at the very least C List this see how it goes. This era has been disappointing for Mumford in terms of their music.

Posted by: Steve201 8th February 2019, 04:58 PM

Yeh agree on both points, and I agree I have heard the Man quite a lot post release!

Posted by: lewistgreen 16th February 2019, 08:32 PM

I quite like Beloved. Radio X have picked this up, R1 will probably playlist it (they A Listed Guiding Light!) and even R2 might give it a shot.

New single version of Beloved is out tomorrow

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 20th March 2019, 06:31 PM

Beloved vid out now!

Posted by: Bjork 21st March 2019, 02:14 PM

wow great video
and the song has grown on me a lot, but seems like they're not as popular as they used to be

Posted by: gavindeejay 21st March 2019, 03:58 PM

It does seem this album campaign has all been a bit low key!

Posted by: Steve201 21st March 2019, 08:10 PM

The first 4/4 songs on the album have grown with continued listens but it does fade out and the final songs all sound underwhelming and samey!

Posted by: Moses 25th March 2019, 05:34 PM

Gave this another chance this morning. It’s really quite dull on the whole, as I originally thought on first listens. "Forever" of the unreleased tracks is very nice though.

Posted by: gavindeejay 9th May 2019, 06:05 PM

Next single is ‘Woman’

Single version now available and playlisted by Radio 1. I really like this

Posted by: gavindeejay 19th May 2019, 05:29 PM

Terrible single choice! Such a boring song!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 22nd October 2019, 04:43 PM

New song out tomorrow!

Posted by: Bjork 22nd October 2019, 05:38 PM

even if Delta was a huge let down

Posted by: Steve201 22nd October 2019, 08:17 PM

Is this being repackaged for this gifting season?

Try and squeeze a few extra sales out of it? I think an E.P may work better for them.

New/old version of ‘Forever’ out today.

This version and ‘Blind Leading the Blind’ really should of been on the album.

Nooo the original "Forever" is gorgeous! My favourite on the album by far! In fact, one of my favourite of theirs all-time.

When I saw 'Garage Version' on the release schedule I was thinking, how on earth will this sound on a garage remix, then played it and it was ... not a 'garage' remix laugh.gif A good version though, I do like it.
