Top 40 Chart Commentary

In another close race for #1, Calvin just gets a seventh week with 'My Way', leaving Bassjackers and KSHMR at #2 for a second week. Gryffin re-peaks yet again with 'Whole Heart' up to #3 swapping positions with Offaiah, and The Weeknd climbs up to a new peak of #5 with 'Starboy'. Another track by The Weeknd, also featuring Daft Punk, is a top 50 entry at #48. Look out for that in the coming weeks.

Also in the top 10, Nora En Pure climbs to #7 with 'Tell My Heart' and then we have our first new entry. Mike Mago and Dragonette previously collaborated on 'Outlines', which peaked at #8. Their follow-up titled 'Secret Stash' gives them another top ten hit, as it enters at #9. It becomes Mike Mago's third top 10 hit following 'Outlines' and 'The Show' (#5 hit, but 'Outlines' spent a lot longer in the chart than it) and Dragonette's third top 10 hit also (their highest charting hit is 'Hello' with Martin Solveig, a #3 hit).

Trance producer Markus Schulz has never had a chart hit before, but that changes this week as 'Destiny', which has been bubbling under for a few weeks, enters the chart at #16. The song is actually over a year old but was only recently brought again to our attention.

Zara Larsson is the biggest climber within the top 40 with 'I Would Like', which jumps 17 places to #23 this week, overtaking previous hit 'Ain't My Fault' down to #29.

After bubbling under for ten weeks, Alma's 'Karma' enters the top 40. Now that her previous hit 'Bonfire' is slipping down the chart (#35 this week), more attention has been brought to this and it's at this week's #33.

A new EP titled 'Jackpot' was released by TheFatRat this week. Three tracks from the EP enter the top 40 this week, 'Epic' (#36), 'Jackpot' (#38) and 'Elegy' (#39). A fourth track, 'Prelude', is new at #49 meaning the entire EP is in the top 50. Clocking at just 1:28 it may well be the shortest song to enter the top 50 (*writer's note* actually it's not, Rihanna's 'Birthday Cake' is 1:18, and yes that did chart). A final new entry comes from Watermät at #40 with 'Fade'. Watermät previously had big hits with 'Bullit' (#2) and 'All My Love' (#4).
