Mikey’s Reload Top 40 Chart: 26th March, 2006



Chart Commentary
This week my chart marks a landmark, Embrace becomes my 50th No1 in the spate of 2 years since I’ve started compiling my chart nearly 2 year’s ago, it’s the first single taken from their new studio album ‘This New Day’. Starting with a simple solo piano line, before sweeping strings and a gospel choir build to the atmosphere of a corker of a tune. The Feeling sits comfortably at No.2 for a second week, determined not to be shifted from the top 3 with their infectious track ‘Sewn’. Pink and KT Tunstall remain at their respectable positions of No.5 and 6 for a second week. 'All Sparks' is the latest offering to be taken from Editors' phenomenally successful debut album 'The Back Room', and nicely climbs a further 9 places to No.9. The innovative Yeah Yeah Yeahs to emerge from New York earns them a place in the top 10 at No.10, also been the highest climber of the week with their new release single 'Gold Lion' up 17 places and what a mighty return it is! With Karen O's war cries and searing guitar riffs over pounding and menacing drumbeats, taken from their forthcoming album 'Show Your Bones'. The highest new entry of 5, possibly the most energetic, lively and joyous single to be released so far this year, 'Why Won't You Give Me Your Love?' is the new single from, the Scottish band, The Zutons, in at No.14. Franz Ferdinand makes a welcome back return, in at No.20 with The Fallen as a re-entry. Mary J. Blige with U2, Will Young, The Crimea and The Strokes make up the rest of the new entries inside the Top 40.
