That lead for the Live Lounge song is astonishing - beating The Weeknd 28 to 1 on this update, at that rate it'll quite likely already be top 40 tomorrow and maybe could even be challenging for a top 10 debut (assuming The Weeknd is maybe selling about 1k a day). Think there's a very good chance this would have been #1 next week if not for being released 12 hours early. Although it's possible it could yet still get #1 next week anyway if it can hold up relatively well (which it could do as Radio 1 will no doubt be plugging it heavily all week).

Quoting a couple of posts from the previous thread...

QUOTE(coi @ Apr 23 2020, 11:23 PM) *
The Rolling Stones up to #10 now, Matt Lucas #18 and Sing from Gary Barlow & The Commonwealth Band at both #56 and #102.

Was this Big Night In thing just celebrating charity singles in general? laugh.gif Seems a bit random for 'Sing' to have cropped up again. I'm here for the baked potato resurgence tho. x

QUOTE(Glenn 69 @ Apr 23 2020, 11:29 PM) *
Pity these sales will have no effect on the chart and may stop Tom being No1 (he hasn't been this close to The Weeknd all week)

? It won't stop Tom from #1 unless it somehow sold like 80k+ in 12 hours lol ~

The Weeknd would be at 0.1247 in this update if the Live Lounge song was excluded, which is essentially no change from where he was in the previous update (it's actually very slightly lower than he was before).

wow incredible lead, that suggests the Live Lounge song did maybe 25K yesterday evening (The Weeknd is down to 0.03), guess we'll see today as that's sure enough to chart and the sales will be revealed...

Nice to see the iTunes chart being genuinely influential on the charts again, even if it is just for the quarantine period and focused on charity singles.

I imagine if people are using iTunes more, then they might download some other stuff they see at the same time. When I did download stuff, it was rare it would just be the odd one song especially if there are some decent 59p tracks.

Who knew Cher Lloyd had another release!

She still releases decent tracks too! Hope it does something at least on iTunes.

True. I downloaded the Radio 1 track last night as well as the Captain Tom/Michael Ball song and got the 59p Ava Max single at the same time which I probably wouldn’t have otherwise.

I can't remember a time where a song was out for less than 24 hours and had enough sales to get into the chart. It will be interesting to see exactly how many people bought this song yesterday.

I swear The Chainsmokers’ “Something Just Like This” reached the top 40 after being released on a Wednesday night...?

Yeah it did, the BRITs performance was that night too. This was released on Thursday afternoon though, so it would have had even less time!
