So after her first single, ''Your Song'' her next single is being lined up already. It was meant to be Girls but now that's being scrapped until January according to reports and Anywhere has come in it's place and she has shot the video for it.
https://twitter.com/RitasHQ/status/916095804112363520
I can really see this video being the female version of the Boys video
Poor Raye got the boot
Lmao it's so gonna be Summer Love
Didn't she say its about girl power?
Is this single still going ahead?
I think there'll be a remix of 'Your Song' feat. French Montana in the next week or two, and then they'll re-promote the original song again in March.
Well, she's STILL in the US promoting Your Song so who knows what's happening next tbh.
Rita is hosting and performing at the EMAs this year, so I reckon we'll have this out by then! Possibly even the album too...
Will debut a lot higher after the success of Your Song!
I assume that, if this is the next single, she's gonna perform it at the EMA's because she said on TRL that she is gonna be performing something brand new! I like YS, but I'm really bored of her promoting it!
It doesn't feature either RAYE or MØ and it's now coming out in January according to an ATRL forum member who met her.
Really not taking the word of an ATRL forum member who 'met' her as gospel. EVER.
But if it is delayed until the new year.
Looks like this has been scrapped as a single and replaced by ''Anywhere'' which is coming this month.
Is that because she literally performed "Your Song" anywhere?
(Still) looking forward to this, also hoping for a higher debut this time but it's unlikely with "Lonely Forever" currently in the top 10.
NOOO 😭😭😭 Need ‘Girls’ now.
So hyped for new music though, especially if it’s that soon.
so the person on ATRL was talking absolute shit, then? (as expected from ATRL)
Will be debuted at EMAs!
Looking forward to hearing this, but I was kinda hyped for 'Girls'. How the f*** has she gone from getting her campaigns spot on, to being such a mess!? I just don't understand.
Still excited though
Single dropping on 20th October, video same day! Not long to wait now!
So MTV have said that "Anywhere" will have its first performance at the EMAs but it comes out on the 20th October and over that weekend she has three high-profile performances (The Jonathan Ross Show on the 21st and Radio 1 Teen Awards/ITV's Your Song on the 22nd). I'm guessing they were wrong about the EMAs being an exclusive because I don't see why she'd perform anything else on Jonathan Ross. Maybe it'll be "Lonely Together" (hopefully not) but I don't think she'll perform something new at the Teen Awards. I guess Your Song will be an older song (probably her song ) given that it's a performance for a specific person.
When were her campaigns spot on? Literally, only the first album - the rest has been pretty messy (partly due to reasons beyond her control, in fairness!). I wish they weren't, I think she'd be even bigger than she already is if she was handled better.
Lmao knowing Rita she'll sing Your Song at all 3 :')
Keeping up the terrible artwork/font theme...
I actually love the artwork this era!
This one's not as strong as the 'Your Song' one but I still like it a lot.
I love the pose but not the font
'Your Song' was boring and generic tropical pop imo, I hope this one is better. What happened to the Marshmello collab that was supposed to be coming?
I always thought of 'Your Song' as being more like a pop Clean Bandit rather than being tropical per se.
Produced by Nolan Lambroza and Alesso.
yasss
PLEASE be better than the abomination that is Your Song.
Exciting!
Tomorrow Video/audio preview on her https://www.instagram.com/p/BabQQn5nk63/.
OCC have posted a review of the song:
SO READY FOR THIS! That preview is exciting and the review is awesome too! Hope she gets another big hit out of this!
It isn’t as instant as Your Song, it feels very similar in production and structure to Hailee’s latest track in places right down to the “chanting” effect in the chorus. Although the breakdown is more It Ain’t Me than it is Let Me Go which is a good thing as the breakdown is the weakest part of Hailee’s track.
At this stage I’m not feeling it to be a hit to the size of Your Song or Lonely Together but her name will see it into the top 10 I imagine.
Absolutely loving this.
i really like this!!!!! i feel like it'll grow loads too
WHERE ARE YOU LISTENING TO THIS?!
Can someone point me in the right direction pls?
And me please!
Just Twitter search it and you’ll see http://bit.ly/2gQyvby, it’s where I usually find songs once they are released in NZ!
Sent to you both!
I like it on first listen, probably not as much as "Your Song" but it feels very accessible so will hopefully grow on me <3
Thanks!
I'm not enjoying this that much on first listen, it's pretty bland. I loved Your Song tho so maybe it'll grow.
Love this! It feels very familiar and it felt like I knew the words by the 2nd chorus. I get huge 'Lonely Together' vibes from this tbh. I should hope it will do well! Hopefully she has an XF performance lined up!
TUNE
Such a euphoric hit and VOCALS <3 It's basically Lonely Together but with real vocals *.*
Doesn’t scream hit. It’s similar to Lonely Together.
This is amazing!! I loved Your Song but this is even more instant for me, has to be huge
It's nowhere as near as good as Lonely Together. Hope it grows, but it's not doing much for me at the moment.
Sounds like a decent sized hit though, very suited to the winter months and tailored for an X Factor performance.
A billion times better than the f***ing vile 'Your Song'
It's definitely quite smiliar to 'It Ain't Me'
Oh this is great, a proper step up from Your Song.
Really great song
Oh wow, take back what I said. Must’ve heard a bad quality preview because this is incredible?!
I like this but I don’t love it like I’ve loved all her singles from ‘I Will Never Let You Down’ onwards 😭
I’m sure it’ll grow and I’ll end up adoring it but right now it’s not a patch on ‘Your Song’!
This is way better than I was expecting!! Miles ahead of Your Song
Average at best, definitely preferred "Your Song".
Nothing compared to "I Will Never Let You Down", which feels like 10 years ago now even though it was just 3 and a half years ago
This is such an earworm! Loving it so much now! It's a lot more laid back than "Your Song" and "Lonely Together", pretty much perfect for this time of year. I think I prefer the latter at the moment but it's definitely better than the former for me currently.
The chorus line is sampled from some 17th century poem or something?! 'Over the hills and far away' - ha Rita at sampling something so old that she doesn't have to pay royalties for it :')
This is SO good, I haven't turned it off today! Can't stand the basic woman herself but this is easily her best song for me by far!
I think I still prefer Lonley Together but this is growing a lot!
Loving this! Liking it more than Your Song already.
What a star!
She looks incredible! Icon filming in Times Square too *.*
I love how melodic the chorus is! My first thought was that this sounds like a BJSC hit Quite an interesting sound from a very mainstream artist! I think I'm preferring this to both Your Song and Lonely Together - although I'm not sure if it'll be as commercially successful as those two are?
Rita is everywhere right now
Hope this is her third top 10 of the year!
SO much better than Your Song, and even that was good.
Literally OBSESSED with this song - have not stopped streaming it, hope this is huge for her.
This has debuted higher than Your Song on Spotify! (44 vs 50)
Sounds quite nice. We’ll see how well it does. Top 5 I think is probable.
Performing this on Jonathan Ross tonight and Teen Awards tomorrow (between 2:30-4:30pm - she's hosting as well iirc?) and then at 9pm tomorrow the 'Your Song' programme is on, here's a photo of Rita performing:
Those children definitely did not exist when 'ORA' came out so it's gonna be "Your Song" lmao.
Another awesome song from her it's quite heavily edited though.
Just heard this. First impressions - not that good and sounds bit bland.
I wasn't sure on this on my first few listens but I am loving it so much now!! Another killer single from Rta, have it on repeat *.*
This will be the next number one
I can't quite see it making #1 unfortunately but I do think it's off to a fantastic start. Her Jonathan Ross performance was excellent and she'll surely get an X Factor slot too?
She absolutely slayed her greatest hits medley ("Your Song"/"Lonely Together"/"Anywhere") at the Teen Awards *.* I have to see this woman live, if only she'd put the album out so she could tour something.
Like Theo says, I absolutely HAVE to see her live next time she tours. She's such a star and always sounds brilliant in live recordings!
At first, I wasn't that keen on this and it took a fair few listens to even remember how it goes but it has grown massively in the last couple of days. I still think Your Song was a bit more instant but I hope this can be another big smash for her
She was very good at R1 today
Great performance! LOVING this so much. It HAS to be a hit!
BOP!!!!!
I thought the performance was a bit poor tbh. Vocally she was great, but the choreography was flat and wtf was she wearing? Those things are out of her control so not a criticism of her, but it spoiled my enjoyment of the performance.
'Anywhere' is pretty catchy and I can see myself really digging it very soon.
Okay this is a timeless anthem which deserves #1s, Grammys and critical acclaim
actually burbashook
Love it.
Me when I heard this song
Me on second listen
Oh God I'm now obsessed. What a BANGER
Definitely the Rita I know and love!
After a couple more listens I'd say this is probably the best new track out at the moment. But that isn't saying much, it certainly doesn't blow me away like it seems to be everyone else on this forum
absolutely obsessed with this, actually just obsessed with her. going through her discography + i genuinely feel she has yet to put a foot wrong. she needs to do a tour so i can throw all my money at her.
Her best song.
This strikes the perfect balance between a hit and something the internet stans will love, it'll be huge *.* I find something new to love every listen, it just keeps growing. I don't think it's left my head since it premiered
Can say as someone who's usually mostly indifferent to Rita, this track is huge & uplifting.
Adore this, her best since I Will Never Let You Down.
Someone needs to do a Rita Ora rate.
For those interested, apparently this was produced by Alesso
4th listen and hooked. This could actually become "I Will Never Let You Down" levels of addictive...
This is seriously challenging Radioactive for my fave Rita song
I think this is the first Rita song I love, can't get enough of it at the moment. Previously I've enjoyed most her songs but nothing has been more than a 7/10 for me!
I've loved both of her recent singles, which is quite something considering how much I detested her in 2012 (although I did also really like 'I Will Never Let You Down' and 'Body on Me' as well).
This is probably my favourite song of 2017.
I do think at this early stage, it could go on to become my favourite of hers.
this is just brilliant - it's amazing that someone who could've EASILY have been faceless as an artist has put out two really BIG songs this year. both unpretentious, both sweet, both VERY appealing.
Not a fan myself. Marginally better than Your Song but that's not saying much, really surprised Alesso produced this, doesn't sound anything like his usual style...
She’s performing on The X Factor next week so this should outpeaked Your Song!
Perfect time to snatch the number one the week after *.*
Quite easily my favourite song of Rita's to date. I've only ever really loved Radioactive before now. Such a breezy and effortless but instant track with a timeless melody.
I feel like I slagged this somewhere on the forums but it's grown on me, awks. Quite good from Rita, thumbs up.
When I first heard it in the car I didn't think much of this but after listening several more times during the week, it's turned out to be an infectious grower. The chorus I can't get out of my head. Reminds me of some other song melody wise which I can't quite put my finger on
She needs to get this album up for pre-order!
Eek, so excited to see her perform this on the X Factor! I don't think it'll quite get to #1 as much as I love it but outpeaking "Your Song" is almost definite. Also if it goes top five, Rita will match Leona Lewis's record for most top five singles by a British female solo artist! 😍
Okay, realistically, if she gets moved up on Hot Hits this week she can climb into the top 20 on Spotify by the time the next chart week comes around, and she'll hopefully be able to reach #1 on iTunes on the back of her X Factor performance... so I think a top 3 placing a week on Friday is well within the realms of possibility
Tour announced for May!
Surprised she's going for academy dates tbh. I feel like she could go bigger.
So upset I can’t go because I’ll be doing my exams then😫
I HAVE to get a ticket!!!
So this is 6 in the UK midweeks!
Omg YES at both of those updates! I have to get tickets to the Leeds show but I agree that she should be playing bigger venues.
I think they've underestimated her size of venues because she's been away so long. Definitely should've gone for some small arenas instead!
I reckon one or two of them will have the venues upgraded or extra dates will end up being announced.
So hyped to see her *.*
Ffs at her touring during exam week when I'll also have dissertation stress, maybe next time in 2022 xo
Got tickets for the Brixton show, can’t wait 🕺🏻
Also got Brixton tickets! Going with Lew and sadly Ben is third wheeling us
This was featured on 'Hot or Not' at a Dutch radio station last week and 67% of the listeners voted NOT.
I can't believe. Everybody on the internet loves it
Got tickets for Birmingham
YAAAAY, got tickets to see her at Newcastle!! Can't wait to see what more bangers she has in store for us between now and May 2018 *.*
Going to see her in Glasgow, yas!
Got a ticket for London!!! (thanks Joe!!)
I'm so tempted by Bristol bc nobody good ever comes but it's the worst week going for me, at least it's a Saturday I suppose
Up to #11 in the UK (while being #2 on sales alone 🙃)
You're kidding! I can't believe that it fell from midweek #6 to outside of the top 10! Obviously she still has plenty of time and I'd say top 5 is certain after her X Factor performance.
Argh :/at least XF is still to come but this and Havana top 2 would be EVERYTHING
Unfortunately it looked like a couple of days of streaming were missing in Monday's midweeks, hence the misleading #6 position (it ended up at #11 come Tuesday's mids anyway) It's on lock for top 10 next week anyway so I'm not disappointed!
From Sunday night's X Factor:
She slays this every single time! She's still #2 on iTunes behind an X Factor contestant so if she can hold off "Havana" until they drop off from #1, she'll become the iTunes #1 and hopefully build a lead for next week's official chart! It's currently #16 on Spotify too, its highest position yet and #4 in the midweeks!
Yay at this leaping up on Spotify! This needs to be #1!!
#1 on iTunes!!!
Two songs in the top 10 at the same time *.*
*_*
Coming for Leona's record with the Sean Paul collabo!
Edit: She's confirmed as a performer on Sounds like Friday Night although I'm not sure on which date! Hopefully she's a guest host so we get two performances
Slain by her performance of this at the EMAs! I loved the rainbow dancers towards the end!
This is #8 on Spotify so a climb in the official chart is coming!
An icon.
Really enjoyed the EMAs performance! My favourite she's done so far. I'd put Jonathan Ross performance second, and X Factor third.
Set for #2 this week! #1 the week after.
Unironically love this. It's took seven or so years but Rita Ora's won me over, this and the Avicii song are bona fide bops.
I just wish the production hit a little harder on the chorus - it can sound a little flat, especially live. It's insanely catchy though.
It's interesting how she's been a bit of a joke for a few years and completely turned it around. that hustle~
Goes to show how fickle the GP / media are...
Has she ever been seen as a joke? At the very most I'd say only within the internet-dwelling forumers and their obsession with 'flopping' popstars for the lack of album after I Will Never Let You Down and Body on Me but the GP would be none the wiser! I think she's popular as ever with the public it's just more obvious at the moment as she's releasing material.
I think it's that time she put that tweet out "I'll release my single if I can get xyz amount of retweets" and it didn't even get half the retweets she wanted...
I'd say it was also to do with Rob Kardashian that people viewed her as a 'joke' for whatever reason.
The EMA performance was fantastic! So, so good
Official #2, Queen's highest charting single since "I Will Never Let You Down"! *.* #1 on the sales-only chart too!
She's performing on Children in Need tonight, official #1 next week?!
She's making up ground on Spotify and pulling away still on iTunes so definitely a shoe in for #1 this week! It could be close!
Another great performance! She puts so much energy into every performance!
Anywhere is pretty fantastic and the promo has been amazing!
I can’t quite believe the success she’s having after the poison/body on me ‘era’. She’s pulled it back massively, just shows her popularity I guess. Her music output lately has been great though
This is a solid pop song, if a little generic.
Now she’s back to being a joke again thanks to The Voice Germany
Nothing embarrassing from what I saw?
They didn't recognise/realise it was actually her, but she was said to have been a doppelganger and if the coach's didn't realise she was there as a joke/bit of fun, it's hardly their fault to not expect the actual one to turn up...
Also, where the hell has this "she was/is a joke" come from?
I guess it shows that her star power isn't strong enough in Germany, for her not to have been instantly recognised the moment the coaches laid eyes on her, and having to tell them. She wasn't even in disguise!
"Rita Ora's prank backfires when no one recognises her" isn't a very cute headline.
At least Anywhere is slaying.
It would've backfired if no one turned for her
STILL not getting sick of this! Looks like it'll spend its 5th week @ #01 in my personal chart on Sunday
59p now, watch Ed come and steal it this week :’)
Has she got anymore promo this weekend?
She seems to be all around the world promoting this so nothing in the UK until her Sounds Like Friday Night performance probably.
She's performing live on Sounds Like Friday Night THIS Friday night!
Also, https://open.spotify.com/album/3za37Q4l0sSoMFgItC8JPU and https://open.spotify.com/album/7JdaTcp2GIiBv3XSGLAe8W remixes for this are available (go stream them on Spotify! ) I don't really think the William one adds much to the song but I really like the R3hab one and I'm not usually one for remixes.
If only she performed last Friday she would most likely be very safe for number 1 this week.
Really liking the r3hab remix
It's my least favourite performance so far, I didn't like the microphone stand hugging at all. It's a shame she was on the smaller stage as the song works a lot better when she has space to move around.
Official #2 again (3 weeks running) and likely to be #2 or #3 next week. A shame she's missed her opportunity for #1 now but I'm very impressed that she's managed another long-running hit. Album announcement now please.
Hope that it’s #3 this week. I’d rage if it was #2 because that would mean that it would’ve been #1 without the Ed remix.
Performance in the Love Lounge this week! I'm not sure which day but I hope she does a Christmas song for her cover.
I think her album will be announced over Christmas/in the early days of 2018 with a release in January/February (maybe to coincide with BRITs performance). Just hope the third single is as good/successful as Anywhere - don't want her to be Stooshe'ed.
Anywhere is going to be hard to beat it is so addictive. With 3 top 10 hits all with respectable sales, she should be able to carve out a successful 2nd album.
Live Lounge from 12pm today with a Christmas cover of one of Rita's personal icons *.*
Wait I hadn't actually heard the adlib on "Last Christmas" until now - "happy vegan Christmas" ?! What the hell Rita babes??
Rita returned to the Voice Germany at the weekend to perform "Anywhere" with one of the finalists who ended up finishing second. The other guests performers were Kelly Clarkson, James Blunt and Beth Ditto - *_* at them getting much bigger names than the X Factor here!
Beth Ditto? There's a blast from the past
Her new album was released this year and it's an absolute masterpiece - you should check it out!
Still not tired of this! It's most definitely my favourite single by her now (going above I Will Never Let You Down in my affections)!
This is now platinum in the UK I'm so glad this has been such a big success for Rita *.*
YASSS
Ready for it to become her biggest seller
Hugely deserved!
What are her biggest sellers, total wise?
^ Check here for her best sellers list: http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?s=&showtopic=208662&view=findpost&p=5919013 (Your Song, Lonely Together, Anywhere & For You updated figures can be found in the first post of this thread)
This is an amazing song, the live lounge cover is incredible too!
It still sounds so fresh so many months after its release and its wonderful that it is still in the charts.
It is also great that this will become a platinum certified single for her.
It already is platinum certified! It's sold around 831,000 so far.
has it outsold 'Your Song' yet? I hope it does.
872,000 for Your Song as of 20th April Maybe another month or so until Anywhere overtakes?
I had thought Anywhere was just under 600,000 sales.
How often is a 2nd single bigger than the 1st single?
This is doing so well on Spotify due to the nice weather this weekend! It's set to overtake "For You" officially this week.
This still goes OFF tbh
It's still such an incredible anthem.
Hard to believe this will soon be a year old, she had everything going for her after this and she managed to colossally f*** it up.
I love anywhere as much now as i did when it was released, they really screwed up not getting the album out when anywhere was released as it was the perfect song to launch the album.
Congratulations to Rita on winning Popjustice's £20 Music Prize for "Anywhere"! Definitely one of the best pop songs of the last 12 months and a fully deserving victory for her.
Such a deserving winner
Perfect outcome!!!!
Not only the best pop song of the last 12 months...of this decade for me <3
Wholly deserved
Certified 2x platinum
Rita Ora, multi platinum, multi talented *.*
Deserves 5x plat at least tbh
It is her strongest release from her whole discography.
That said, i have much enjoyed the Phoenix era over her debut despite how long it took to get released.
One of the few songs from last year which I regularly return to. What an absolute triumph of a pop song
