To commemorate Madonna's 61st birthday, I have the ultimate Madonna question to ask: if you could only choose one to experience for the rest of your life, would you pick 20th century Madonna or 21st century Madonna?
Think songs, albums, videos, tours... good luck! |

20th century because a world without 'Ray Of Light' isn't one worth living in tbh.
(That was HARD though I really enjoyed a lot of her noughties albums in particular) |

20th for me but it wasn’t an easy poll tbh.
Like A Prayer and Ray Of Light are my all time favourite Madonna albums / eras though. |

This is near impossible to choose. 20th has MORE to offer for me but 21st has her BEST for me (Confessions...). I'll have to think harder before voting

I saw this question on another forum and I've still not been able to decide! As you say Bal, 20th century Madonna has more consistent goodness to offer but, for all it's low moments, 21st century Madonna has the likes of Confessions, its tour and the S&S tour which are among my absolute favourite Madonna moments!

After much deliberation I have gone for 21st Century and am shocked to see I am the only one.
My reasons for doing so: it features my favourite ever album, the run of Music - American Life - Confessions is unrivalled in terms of her studio albums, it features my favourite tour/live soundtrack in Confessions Tour, I saw her live for the Rebel Heart Tour so that has special moments for me. Ray of Light being 20th Century was swaying me towards then but I have weighed out all my favourite moments that are personal to me from her and most seem to be in the 21st. |

Having finally heard every album, this is actually an incredibly tough decision. Obviously both centuries have superb songs... eek.
I'm ever so slightly leaning towards the 20th century. Crazy for You, Into the Groove, Papa Don't Preach, Like a Prayer, Vogue, Rain (yes, it's a huge personal fave!), Take a Bow, Frozen, The Power of Good-Bye + most of the Ray of Light album, so essential. This just about outweighs the immensity of Confessions on a Dance Floor being my favourite album, which would be a hard one to sacrifice. How about 20th Century minus Evita, let me have Confessions instead x |

I wonder whether the Ultimate rate will support these poll results! No spoilers ~

I choose the secret third option — the cusp of the 20th and 21st

I originally went for 20th and it probably still is... but not by as much as I thought, when I made my Madonna playlist the other day I chose my favourite 40 tracks and only 23 were before 2000 so it’s reasonably close.
