A new song co-written by @zaralarsson called “Don’t Do Drugs” has been registered recently.

Written with Caroline Ailin (Dua Lipa, Lennon Stella, Tove Lo, Tove Styrke) & Daniel James Traynor (lots of NAO, but also H.E.R, Khalid, Dua, Years & Years).

"Don't Worry Bout Me" and "All The Time" didn't make the cut. The fact that the former is her best song to date in my opinion. Sigh!

Posted by: Bjork 10th January 2021, 10:49 AM

the list of songwriting teams involved is impressive

Posted by: jsweetxe 10th January 2021, 10:56 AM

i'm actually quite shocked she managed to get such a high profile set of credits considering how much she's been commercially flopping lately and Max usually never touches anything that isn't going to have a fighting chance (her management's fault, ofc)

Posted by: TalkAboutWall 10th January 2021, 11:25 AM

She’s been planning this album for years, so I can imagine she wasn’t flopping when recording this! It’s a huge list of massive writers and I’m excited for almost every song!

The max Martin song better slap

I doubt that this album was recorded was back in 2018(?) when she was still commercially viable.. at least I hope not? If Zara needs anything right now it's a killer album. Even if it's not a massive seller, at least it should be good as her last effort was messy.

All The Time is #9

Poster Girl (song) has been described as pop perfection and a head scratcher as to why it wasn’t released as the single over talk about love

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 12th January 2021, 04:30 PM

RAGING at DWBM and 'All The Time'

Why couldn't they have put those two on it? It's not like anything else on this album is gonna be bigger!!

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 12th January 2021, 04:34 PM

Is 'One Bullet' gonna be the 'Wanna' of this album? (which I'd still quite like a studio version of)

Posted by: JulianNial 12th January 2021, 06:03 PM

Oh wow those writing credits are insane! This better not disappoint.

ALSO FUMING that 'All The Time' is not included, also like 'Don't Worry Bout Me', so praying ATLEAST for streaming bonus tracks. Other wise that's just tragic.

Posted by: TalkAboutWall 12th January 2021, 08:00 PM

permission > wanna

It shows how messy zara is though, she legit performed one bullet (kinda boring) last month on a final and that didn't even make the album, what was the point

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 12th January 2021, 11:52 PM

This is the sort of thing that stops me from being able to properly invest in her, much as I'd like to.

zara's label really f***ed up during the 'so good' era by pushing the more pop-r&b sound instead of the pop and going back on themselves when the poppier songs were doing better.

I think that's part of the problem sadly, even after 5 years she hasn't established any musical identity. sad.gif

she obviously wants to do pop and the label intervene...

interestingly... on the same label as camila, meghan trainor & 5H (previous) and i'd say they all struggled with the "are we pop?" or "are we pop/R&B" sound...

They've always been a bit of a crap label. I feel like their specialty is finding one hit wonders and then destroying their career... well it is basically Syco with a different name isn't it. The same label that signed so many flop artists and allowed Camila to release 'Consequences' over 'She Loves Control'. That was brutal. laugh.gif

That's what I don't get, since she said it's to do with saving space for new tracks... my guess is because it's still streaming relatively strong. In my imagination though 'All The Time' could have taken off and been rereleased if were included... that's my dream finished. laugh.gif

Posted by: dannjohn 15th February 2021, 10:53 AM

Tho the amount of fans moaning about 'all this time' might prompt her to stick it on the end.

first review is a 5/5

Pop will prevail. That’s the mantra that runs through Zara Larsson’s much anticipated second full-length. After the wild success of her 2017 debut ‘So Good’ – still apparently the second most-streamed album by a female solo artist on Spotify, dontcha know – ‘Poster Girl’ isn’t letting up in the slightest. This is strictly a ‘no ballads allowed’ zone.

By going for front-to-back bangers, Larsson is playing to her strengths. With that Swedish high-def pop heritage, every song could be a chart smash. In context, they complement too. Previous single ‘Ruin My Life’ remains an earworm of the highest order, while opener ‘Love Me Land’ is achingly cool. Some of the newbies are total scene-stealers, though – none less so than the brilliant ‘FFF’ (that’s Falling For a Friend, ‘FYI’). A massive pop banger with a sky-high chorus and an instrumental break that sounds like it could perfectly soundtrack that dancefloor scene in The Inbetweeners movie, it’s ridiculous fun.

In embracing music’s most rewarding artform, Zara Larsson has yet again affirmed her place on the brightest of billboards. Pass the blu-tack.

5/5

Posted by: Klumzee 3rd March 2021, 03:17 PM

who wrote this review? Was it you? ph34r.gif

I want a top quality album from her but I'm struggling to have much faith in that considering how dis-jointed the era has been so far. Look What You've Done was a breath of fresh air for her and Ruin My Life and Love Me Land are two good singles to have on the album too so it could surprise?

I'm already marking it down due to having the audacity to put wow on the album over all the time

Posted by: George.keh 3rd March 2021, 04:50 PM

I am actually super excited for this album- as sad as it has been seeing her lose all the commercial success she was so consistently receiving, I'm not mad at her being a popular with the gays kinda artist haha

NME 4/5

Even Zara Larsson concedes that this album has been a long time coming. “You can always find excuses not to have a release, which is what I’ve been doing for, like, four years,” she told NME last month. Still, pop fans needn’t panic. Though ‘Poster Girl’ arrives nearly two-and-a-half years after its lead single, the faintly masochistic R&B bop ‘Ruin My Life’, it doesn’t sound tentative or desperate. When Larsson sings “this girl’s having fun” on standout banger ‘Look What You’ve Done’, you can tell she means it.

Her third record begins with last year’s ‘Love Me Land’, a stunning dance-pop song that deserved to become a huge hit like Larsson’s 2015 breakthrough singles ‘Never Forget You’ and ‘Lush Life’, but somehow didn’t. “Never thought I would love again,” she sings blissfully. “Here I am, lost in Love Me Land.” This evocative line, which almost sounds ripped from a lost disco classic, introduces the album’s recurring theme: love in all its ecstatic, messy and sometimes frustrating glory.

Nine tracks later, on the equally dreamy ‘FFF’, the Swedish star delivers an even more dazzling lyric, asking, “Is there a spark for us, or is it just purely platonic? / Is this a story arc?”, before concluding: “It’d be iconic.” ‘FFF’ turns out to be Larsson’s shorthand for “falling for a friend”, which as many of us know, can definitely be messy.

Thankfully, even a loved-up Larsson is too cool to give us saccharine Valentine’s Day sentiments; the glistening, mid-tempo tune ‘Need Someone’ wrong-foots you slightly when she sings: “I’m happy, I don’t need your love / I’m happy, but I want you.” It’s the sort of subtly empowering line that really suits Larsson, a straight-talking pop star known for promoting sex-positivity and calling out toxic masculinity. And she isn’t afraid to get a little risqué, telling a distracted partner on ‘I’m Right Here’: “I could have two girls in this bed / Wouldn’t even get your attention.”

Third Review 4/5 DIYMAG

Pure pop escapism.

LABEL: BLACK BUTTER
RELEASED: 5TH MARCH 2021
REVIEWER: EMMA SWANN
RATING: 4 STARS
If 2020’s biggest album (Dua, obvs) offered up killer dancefloor vibes at the precise moment it transpired nobody would be seeing one any time soon, that Zara Larsson’s third hits on the cusp of spring, with its increased daylight hours and promise of meaningful human interaction in the middle-distance is a stroke of genius. Take the Marshmello-produced, and curiously understated ‘WOW’, the vocal swagger of opener ‘Love Me Land’ or peppy title track. Or the breezy ‘Need Someone’, which makes like Calvin Harris’ ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1’, and begs to soundtrack a road trip. The Young Thug-featuring ‘Talk About Love’ packing a nostalgic punch, with a chorus that hits in all the right places, the earworm-and-a-half that is ‘FFF’, or even ‘Look What You’ve Done’, disco-tinged both in string section and empowered lyrical melodrama. Musically rose-tinted, ‘Poster Girl’ is pure pop escapism.

I am actually quite confident this will be a better album than the mess that ended up being So Good. I'm rather looking forward to giving it a listen!

Posted by: dannjohn 4th March 2021, 12:03 PM

i'm giving it a listen now

Posted by: jsweetxe 4th March 2021, 12:41 PM

I don't really like this sad.gif I don't think the album is bad, it's very nicely produced but it just comes across as very understated, a lot of the pop hooks she had on So Good aren't on Poster Girl, even songs like All the Time and Don't Worry Bout Me would've added a LOT of pop fun to the album.

The songs that stood out to me were Need Someone (this is v good, I love this), Poster Girl, as well as Ruin My Life which I believe is the best on the album. FFF is a banger too.

'Poster Girl' is my favourite too, I can imagine it being a hit, I'd say 'I Need Love' is my 2nd favourite new track, I'm not blown away, but it'll get some streams from me for sure.

'All The Time' would have fit so flawlessly after 'Poster Girl' or 'I Need Love' kink.gif I also feel like 'Don't Worry Bout Me' would have closed the album beautifully, so that's where I'll be placing those on my 'Spotify' version of the album.

Actually really excited to listen to this! 'Look What You've Done' has definitely revived my interest wub.gif

I'm not gonna listen again until It's on UK streaming, for some reason I really wanna listen to FFF again, I feel like with a glass of something it'll go off... plus it's Drag Race UK night so I'm gonna be boozed by midnight. laugh.gif

Oh don't get me wrong, production wise it's MILES better than So Good, I just think So Good had a few more catchier hooks and it had a bit more vulnerability (Only You stays her best mid-tempo) at least the fuzzy vocal production is gone but yeah, I think So Good is better with the pop hooks.

You're not wrong.

So for me the album is a 4/5 or a 8/10. It's pretty faceless and lacks an 11 but I like the cohesion and there are serviceable bops, the title track needs to be PUSHED ASAP.

I don't get why her and her team were so adamant about not including 'All The Time' when all of the fans were begging, it would fit SO well. In my Spotify edition it comes after 'I Need Love' and 'Don't Worry Bout Me' closes the album and it works so well.

Why did she have to include that? It's not like it did anything anywhere so there's no justification.

She almost has a cohesive album that flows really well. Swap out 'WOW' and 'Ruin My Life' for 'All The Time' and 'Don't Worry Bout Me', remove 'Stick With You' and 'Talk About Love' and it's perfect.

Overall: well done Larsson!

'Need Someone' is a good bop but it's ordinary in terms of who she's trying to appeal to. 'Look What You've Done' is RIGHT THERE and it's undeniable. Try and let that make a splash, release the video, promote it as hard as you can and then follow it up with 'Poster Girl' after.

Remember she has a Youtube concert on Monday! It's going to be very similar to Dua's show but for Free!

FFF and Need Someone are the clear stand outs to me after my first listen. Think the rest of the album will take a few more listens to grow on me.

Also, such a stupid decision not to include All The Time and Don't Worry Bout Me. They both would have fit so well on the album, makes no sense to leave them out. sad.gif

Posted by: Juliannnial 8th March 2021, 02:15 PM

I mean at least it's boosted the album nicely but seriously 'Lush Life' did not need that slot. If she started with 'Lush Life' and then mixed it with one of the new songs It would have made much more sense. dry.gif

Posted by: Jade 8th March 2021, 03:22 PM

I'm not feeling massively enthused about this album but 'Love Me Land' is my favourite Zara song these days so I'm glad that this era provided that. The rest of my top 3 would be... 'Don't Worry Bout Me' and 'All The Time' so I'm also disappointed that they didn't make the cut - I wish more filler moments could be switched out for those. 'Look What You've Done' and 'Need Someone' are also keepers at least - I was pleasantly surprised by the production and general vibe of the latter, has a dreamy Tame Impala quality to it. I think I'll give the title track more of a chance too because on paper it seems exactly up my street but just wasn't clicking for whatever reason.

Honestly, Love Me Land is the first song where I felt Zara finally started to find her own groove and sound - most of the other songs she's done sound like "Oh, that's very Rihanna etc"; with "Love Me Land" I can't imagine any other artist doing the song and that's a good thing.

I mean, I'm harsh on her, but that's mostly because Swedish media is so littered with her continuous brain farts (Zara, you don't need to share every thought in your head), plus I want more if I'm gonna stan.

I had a quick listen to the album but most of it didn't really stand up to LLM.

Posted by: dannjohn 8th March 2021, 05:07 PM

I don't why she didn't at least mash it up with a new single... mad.

Posted by: Tafty 8th March 2021, 05:30 PM

It really annoys me when the label/broadcaster decide they want them to promote an older song.

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 8th March 2021, 05:34 PM

Posted by: tommie 8th March 2021, 05:38 PM

Forced and forced... tv shows decide what they want a performer to sing as they don't want people to tune out. Her latest singles have bombed so I assume they wouldn't book her unless she did something popular.

It sucks, but not unusual.

Posted by: Tafty 8th March 2021, 06:04 PM

The thing is... it SHOULD be unusual. I don't get the point of even asking someone in the middle of a brand new campaign to perform a song that's 6 years old. Don't want them to promote their new material, why bother asking them to perform and not get someone else who has a currently popular song about? It just makes no sense to me and it really sucks and makes it so hard for someone to get past that "sophomore slump".

At least compromise and ask for a medley that included that older song or better yet, ask her to perform a song that was actually a HIT from the album. She could've performed 'Ruin My Life'. It just makes a mockery of the artist who wants their new work to be heard. How are they expected to do that if they're asked to perform a song that's not relevant to that campaign? Tbh, I wouldn't be surprised or blame her if she never promotes here again.

You need to remember that they don't give a crap about Zara's album campaign - all they care about is keeping the viewer tuned. And I guess Talk About Love wasn't going to cut it.

But yeah, Zara's team could've tried to compromise and gotten her to perform a medley. Bad negotiating on their part I guess.

This album deserves way better. I bought the CD to help her out, albeit it wasn’t signed and had no stickers, which the Amazon description promised.

Look What You’ve Done and FFF are both brilliant and I really like What Happens Here too while others are quickly growing.

Would secretly love her to have tacked on the Carola duet, although that was never going to happen. The absence of All The Time and Don’t Worry Bout Me are baffling though when Ruin My Life is on here.

The album is good! My first listen I thought it was FANTASTIC because a lot of the songs are very instant. On repeated listens it hasn't held up in my affections as much but it's still a good listen. I may end up getting tired of it soon if it continues on the downward trajectory it has since my first listen but hopefully not.

My personal favourite is 'I Need Love' wub.gif

Bizarre they’d still leave those two of, some of the best songs from this era.

Zara deffo just hates All The Time...

I bet she loves Flop About Love x

Yeh she gets annoyed when fans asks why it’s not on the album

Talk about love is one of her favs 💀

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 16th May 2021, 12:04 AM

Is she crazy?

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 18th May 2021, 09:45 AM

apparently deluxe is coming this friday

Posted by: Juliannnial 18th May 2021, 06:17 PM

I swear I'm disowning her.

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 18th May 2021, 09:28 PM

Seems like a Headie One feature is going to be on the album and a khalid or Khaled !

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 18th May 2021, 09:52 PM

Deluxe version apparently includes

Morning
Last Summer
I need love (live)
Ruin my life (orchestral version)
Never forget you (orchestral version)
Right here (alok remix)
Sag Mig Var Du Sar

Posted by: Frenchie 19th May 2021, 05:05 AM

Looking forward to the new tracks.

Honestly who cares about the other add ons when there could have been All The Time, Don't Worry Bout Me or Like It Is. Her label are so trash she needs to escape asap.

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 19th May 2021, 02:56 PM

Right Here music video coming Friday

Posted by: Frenchie 19th May 2021, 03:04 PM

Ooh plz be the next single!

Posted by: Cameron 19th May 2021, 08:04 PM

Only Zara would add Never Forget You to the album...

Posted by: Tafty 19th May 2021, 09:18 PM

One of her earliest hits, but not 2 songs which fit the album perfectly and were only released like 2 years ago?

Ridiculous. I don't care if they're playing into the "Summer Edition" or whatever both 'All the Time' and 'Don't Worry Bout Me' slap in the sun! Ughhhhh. WHAT ARE HER LABEL DOING? FFS!!!

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 19th May 2021, 09:25 PM

THE ALBUM COVER....

I——//

How do I continue stanning when I think I hate her

Posted by: Juliannnial 19th May 2021, 09:57 PM

I'm here to celebrate 'Right Here' getting a music video, but the rest I'm choosing to ignore. Of course I'll listen to the new songs but I'm just so miffed.

Knowing her taste in her own music, she probably doesn't want them on herself (or even potentially hates them)

Amazed they're actually bothering with this though!

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 20th May 2021, 01:01 PM

Last Summer was written with Raye!

Morning and Last Summer are good songs, nothing amazing but at least we’ve got more material!

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 20th May 2021, 01:47 PM

Last Summer cheeseblock.png

Posted by: Dangerous Julian 20th May 2021, 02:52 PM

I've just listened to the snippets on iTunes 'New Zealand'.

'Morning' is a bop! Does a great job of being a Summer jam, but wow the instrumental sounds a lot like 'I Don't Care'.
I really like 'Last Summer' I can see it being a big grower.

Nice to have new material, I'll be revisiting this (well my own version) tomorrow. 'All The Time' still needs it's place and 'Poster Girl' should be a single with a feature.

Posted by: George.keh 20th May 2021, 02:53 PM

Never Forget You lol.

I hate the new album art ew why couldn’t it just be the same in blue without her walking past it but I’ve learnt not to expect anything from any deluxe version considering Ariana and Chloe x Halle’s recent attempts being around 7 minutes of new content

Posted by: Frenchie 21st May 2021, 04:09 AM

Last Summer is a bop dance.gif

Not too fussed by Morning on first listen.

Apparently the Right Here video is the Alok remix, which ruins the chorus which is the best part of the song mad.gif .

Posted by: Cameron 21st May 2021, 05:49 AM

I’m unstanning

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 21st May 2021, 07:56 AM

How can she release the same album without any single promoting it

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 21st May 2021, 11:46 AM

You stole my sunshine, my f***ing summerrrrr

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 21st May 2021, 10:17 PM

Last Summer

Posted by: Tafty 23rd May 2021, 03:40 PM

'Morning' - Will need a few more listens. It's completely passed me by.
'Last Summer' - INSTANT. ADORE THIS! Extremely 80's. But a pop banger!

I took a listen to 'Ruin My Life (Orchestral Version)' too... WHO AUTHORISED THIS WITHOUT (CLEARLY) LISTENING TO IT?! They kept the backing track of the original track in, amped up it's volume so that it COMPLETELY drowned out the Orchestra!? I'm SO pissed. I was counting on that being really, REALLY special sad.gif

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 23rd May 2021, 09:30 PM

I hope Zara stays releasing songs like look what you’ve done, last summer etc, if they had proper releases and promotion I really think they would have been successful. She needs a good team and a good label.

Posted by: Billy. 26th May 2021, 09:13 AM

I think Last Summer is my fav release of hers so far.

Posted by: dannjohn 26th May 2021, 09:31 AM

i just don't see what the point in this re-release was?

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 26th May 2021, 10:18 AM

To provide us with last summer tbh

Posted by: Juan Carlos 8th July 2021, 08:51 PM

A new re-release of the Summer Edition of the album will be out tomorrow, including the Billen Ted remix of "Morning" and "I Need Love", which features Trevor Daniel. The latter was an Amazon Original exclusive release.

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 8th July 2021, 08:56 PM

WHY

What is the actual point

We still don’t have all the time

Posted by: Frenchie 8th July 2021, 09:06 PM

Why is the label wasting money on these pointless remixes, it makes zero sense blink.gif

Posted by: dannjohn 9th July 2021, 12:22 PM

does commissioning remixes really cost that much?

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 9th July 2021, 01:35 PM

I think she’s working with billen ted on new music so was probably done as a favour

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 12th July 2021, 10:59 PM

I really do love the Trevor version

The way this had three different times on the album though

instead of just randomly adding songs to this album... why don't they actually send a song to radio?!?!?!?

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 19th July 2021, 02:54 PM

there's still small hope that radio 2 might help her next song be a top 100 smash tbh

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 19th July 2021, 10:57 PM

On iTunes

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 2nd October 2021, 06:56 PM

it works so well live.

If it's anything like 'Don't Let Me Be Yours' they can keep it.

Doesn’t he have a label now? He should sign her ASAP if so.

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 22nd November 2021, 01:28 PM

She's performing a tour in Sweden and Norway.

the looks cheeseblock.png

Posted by: DangerousJulian 23rd November 2021, 03:34 PM

She looks SOOO GOOODD!!

Posted by: Frenchie 23rd November 2021, 03:41 PM

I forgot how good this album is. I just listened for the first time in months and it really slaps. Literally no skips. It really deserves so much better.

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 23rd November 2021, 05:53 PM

How the campaign should have went and album tracklist

Single 1: Love Me Land (better promo and payola because this slaps)
Single 2: Look What You’ve Done
Single 3: Poster Girl (released as instant grat before album then add a rapper)

Love Me Land
All The Time
Poster Girl
Last Summer
Right Here
Look What Youve Done
Need Someone
Ruin My Life
I Need Love
Talk About Love
Morning
Stick With You

Posted by: DangerousJulian 24th November 2021, 07:28 AM

That would have been SICK and a much stronger track listing.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 24th November 2021, 10:56 AM

I'd definitely remove 'Talk About Love' personally.

Completely! I'd replace it with 'FFF' in Lee's tracklist.

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 21st January 2022, 10:28 PM

she’s apparently worked with Alesso and centralsee

Posted by: Frenchie 21st January 2022, 10:49 PM

She's teasing a feature on twitter also

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 21st January 2022, 11:09 PM

guessing alesso or central see she needs it

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 24th January 2022, 09:56 PM

there’s also a nicki minaj version of wanna that has leaked with Zara! I’m surprised they didn’t push it tbh

Posted by: dannjohn 25th January 2022, 04:35 PM

'wanna' is a song thats been around since the first album hasn't it?

Posted by: JulianaGrande 25th January 2022, 06:26 PM

It has yes, but there were licencing issues with that and also 'Permission'which is another bop that deserves justice, then 'Wanna didn't make the cut for 'Poster Girl' for some bizarre reason. She's just sitting on all these smashes. 'Smoke Rings' would have been perfect on the album too. I still have it stuck in my head.

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 26th January 2022, 05:34 PM

wanna was made for so good, she re did it for poster girl and it even had a nicki feature, she decided against it and it went to another artist who sampled it

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 8th June 2022, 11:52 AM

Zara now owns all her music as well as creating her own label, incredible

Posted by: Ho-Lee Smokes 8th June 2022, 05:25 PM

somebody tweeted her that and she says it’s a good idea
