October 6th 2009
The official premiere of Bad Romance at Alexander McQueen's Plato's Atlantis. On 6 October, 2009, Alexander McQueen’s Spring/Summer 2010 show Plato’s Atlantis became the first ever live streamed fashion show. Under the direction of Nick Knight and with support from IMG, SHOWstudio streamed what would become Lee Alexander McQueen’s final catwalk presentation live from Paris, arguably making it his most popular as well as critically revered collection. |

The artwork for Bad Romance shows Gaga veiled behind a blood-red sheet. It perfectly encapsulates the blur between love and horror that the song explores. What are your opinions on the single's artwork? |

Love the artwork now but at the time I wasn’t so sold.
I remember and miss the days where a singles artwork would be seen as a big deal / important. Even album covers now don’t feel like much of an event anymore |

Love the cover!
I think the cover art is still important but not in a sense of making people to feel that they should BUY the product. It is important part of the vibe and feeling of the music/current era. |

The music video:
Directed by: Francis Lawrence The video was shot on a low budget, in 2 days. The end result would shake up the entire music video landscape. It was the first video to ever reach 200 million views, becoming the most-viewed video on YouTube at the time. It now has a total of over 1 billion views. The video is consistently ranked as one of the greatest music videos of all time and was voted the best video of the decade by readers of Billboard. It received 10 nominations at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, in the categories of Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Art Direction, Best Special Effects, Best Choreography, Best Direction, Best Dance Video, Best Pop Video, Best Female Video and Video of the Year, tying with Peter Gabriel's song "Sledgehammer" for the record of most nominations for a single video in the history of the MTV Video Music Award. The video went on to win seven of the categories. It also won the Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video. It was a truly, game-changing moment of visual/music art. What are your thoughts on the music video? |

The fact it was a 48 hour low budget shoot blows my f***ing mind. What an absolute moment.

An incredible masterpiece. THAT's how you make a statement with a video. The way it captured the world too was magic - the looks, the styling, the art direction, the choreography, the birth of the monster ~ the rest was history *.*

I don't think the budget was *that* low, obviously it's not Larger Than Life in terms of spending cash but wouldn't call it "low budget".

Live performances
I'll be going through most major live performances of Bad Romance! There were loads, so buckle in, it's a fun ride The song was first heard on 'Saturday Night Live' where a part of the song was first performed. She played an acoustic performance of the song after finishing 'LoveGame'. It was then performed on 'Gossip Girl'. Gaga worked with the producers and script-writers of the show to ensure that the song fit with the rest of the episode. What are your thoughts on these two initial performances? |

She needs to include her songs in a hit show again, maybe the 3rd season of Succession or sth
Not so keen on the SNL performance tbh. This post has been edited by SKOB: Oct 22 2019, 07:17 AM |

She then performed at the American Music Awards, coupling the song with 'Speechless'. It featured the now iconic choreography followed by a piano-led performance.
She did the same two songs on Ellen. It was a much slower, more stripped back performance of Bad Romance here: |
