Consider me also disappointed that a chunk of the songs aren't included on the vinyl as the reason I decided to check it out today is because I loved 'Strange' so much last year and the album cover is great yet the red vinyl option shuns it?! Basically these vinyl decisions are a mess in general
I enjoyed it anyway, I did hope that a whole record from her would be mellifluous and indeed it was. It probably helps to be in the right mood as I was actively wanting something chilled out this afternoon. I could happily listen to her slower moments for ages in these instances. But the more upbeat songs on the album broke it up in a natural and necessary way too. I think my favourite album track right now is 'Tell Me Something I Don't Know' I am happy to report that 'Love Is Back' has grown on me sooo much now. I definitely get the Amy Winehouse comparisons - I think that similar soulful, smoky approach is why I'm drawn to her style in general. Other favourites include 'Not Your Muse', 'A Kiss' (those strings <3 there was some lovely production flourishes throughout actually, pretty sure I picked up on pan pipes during one song?! might've been 'The Promise'), 'Some Goodbyes Come With Hellos' (I love the airy vocal delivery on the chorus), 'Father's Son' and 'In The Summer Of My Life'. A solid debut - I look forward to where she can go from here. Pleased that she's storming the midweeks with good sales under the current climate. I want to help out although the vinyl situation is annoying, I might get a signed standard one or something to make the purchase feel a bit more worthwhile. Edit: oops maybe not - I think that one is sold out. |

"Tonight Tonight" is so good! "Stop This Flame" is still a bop too Really like "Love Is Back" as well, heavy Amy Winehouse vibes from it. I feel the album could be cut in half though, it's a bit too long imo.
