Robert Kubica will join the Alfa Romeo Formula 1 team as a reserve driver for 2020, with his backer PKN Orlen coming on board as a "co-title sponsor".

Not unexpected really.
I've no idea how the rest will play out for 2021 but... I'd like to see Ricciardo in the Ferrari alongside Leclerc. Hamilton and Vettel at Mercedes for their swansong seasons - team and drivers - Bottas can slot in at Renault with Ocon, and Albon stay at Red Bull. If Schumacher can start to deliver on his potential this year, he should replace Raikkonen and partner Giovinazzi (otherwise give it to Luca Ghiotto for an all Italian line up). McLaren and Alpha Tauri unchanged. Haas need to ditch both drivers to step up and Williams need to focus on Russell. Racing Point should dump Stroll for Nick De Vries but won't. Perez is ok. Unlikely I know. |

The British Grand Prix at Silverstone will now start at 15:10 local time compared to 14:10 in 2019, while the race at the Circuit of The Americas will begin at 14:10 local time instead of 13:10.

McLaren has lured one of Williams's long-time sponsors away, after signing a multi-year technical partnership with Unilever from the start of the 2020 Formula 1 season.

That's an incredibly boring looking driver lineup for this season, virtually no change and loads of dross still there

Yes it is rather unusual for there to be only one debutant but I'm excited to see Ocon back in a reasonably competitive team plus I do at least feel most of the line-up deserve their place. The only ones there I don't think should be there are Grosjean & to a lesser extent Stroll (he's still capable of the odd bit of good stuff). For their faults, both the Alpha drivers did enough last season to warrant retaining and then Magnussen just ticks along well enough. Giovinazzi was someone I thought would struggle last season but he surprised me to be fair.

Yeah agree with most of that. I don't mind Giovanazzi and he's still quite new. It's ridiculous Grosjean still has a seat and I don't see Stroll being a loss. Perez, Magnusson, Kvyat is all just a bit meh, same with Hulkenberg, don't think you could argue against him still being in but don't see him being a loss, just feels really stale having the same drivers in the mid-lower table teams for so long.

Ones that don't need to be there are Grosjean, Kvyat, KMag and some extent Stroll from his pot of money from Daddy.
On the grid this year, no big changes. Perez he'll never be a top driver always the best of the midfield. |

I never liked it that you need to bring $$ and sponsors and if you're a billionaire you can buy yourself a seat
It's unthinkable in all other sports, that a billionaire could play football for Real Madrid or Barcelona |

Perez he'll never be a top driver always the best of the midfield. I’m amazed to say this but Kvyat has been much improved in 2019. I’m currently giving him a years grace. |

To be fair yes, probably taking back what I said about Kvyat he did improve in 2019 with his second bite of the F1 cherry.

I never thought Kvyat was ever that bad myself. His torpedo reputation gained traction more through a Vettel meme than anything, he wasn't up there with the repeat offenders of Maldonado's ilk for example. He's also very quick, people forget that in his first season at RBR he finished higher than Danny Ric in the standings (who himself had kicked Vettel's posterior the season before). The demotion in 2016 was harsh but of course you can't say it wasn't justified when the replacement wins at literally the next race. I'm intrigued to see who comes out of top between him & Gasly this year.

Early rumours suggest Ferrari's 2020 challenge may be disappointing
https://www.essentiallysports.com/scuderia-...-with-2020-car/ Mind you, at least that's better than Alfa Romeo, whose chassis failed early crash tests |
