Some decisions that go to the video assistant referee are to be shown on big screens in Premier League grounds.
Graphics will explain any VAR-related delay to a match, and any overturned decision, from next season. |

Old Trafford doesn't have a screen inside the stadium where replays can be shown so it will be interesting to see how VAR will be implemented there. If you miss something that happened on the pitch then the only way to watch it back is by looking at the TV screens in the area where food and drink is served.

At least Brighton's last few fixtures aren't as bad as the last few seasons. For the last two seasons they have needed to go into those fixtures outside the bottom three to be confident of staying up. That isn't quite so essential next season. Obviously they still have to play all other sides twice, but it's always nice to have hope of getting some points out of the last few matches.

Rare you get a top 6 encounter on the first weekend actually. I know there was Arsenal vs. City last year but doesn't seem to happen very often!

A tough start for Manchester United having to face Chelsea in the opening match then playing Wolves away in the 2nd match. We've also got Leicester and Arsenal in the opening weeks of the season as well. Speaking of Arsenal their start is even worse than ours, they've got Liverpool and Tottenham in August then Watford away straight after that. Their April/May doesn't look too great either.

There were a few seasons a decade or so ago when there was a strong suspicion that Sky had some influence on the fixture list. A number of the most attractive fixtures seemed to be at convenient stages of the season for a few years in a row. That has been less apparent in recent seasons which means that well-timed fixtures for next season may just be a coincidence.

There is only us and City that will challenge, the other teams are way behind right now. I think the Club World Cup will be a distraction, but it also depends on other factors too. Totally agree though that it's not ideal. On the bright side it could be worse. |

Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez has received a £12m-a-year offer to take over as manager at Chinese Super League club Dalian Yifang.
Benitez, 59, is out of contract at the end of June but has been offered a new deal by Newcastle owner Mike Ashley. |

The Magpies finished 13th in the Premier League last season as Spaniard Benitez, who took over in March 2016, secured the club's top-flight status. |

And suddenly the odds on Newcastle being relegated next season plummet. As long as Ashley remains in charge, they will surely struggle to get a new manager of Benitez’ calibre.

I really don't think they're that bad a team. Definitely overperformed under Rafa (them getting 10th the season before last was bloody unbelievable) but wouldn't put them anywhere near relegation candidates. They've even starting buying players now!
