BuzzJack Music Forum _ Reality TV _ Strictly Come Dancing 2019 - Series 17

Posted by: ThePensmith Jul 17 2019, 01:55 PM

Strictly returns to BBC One this autumn - start date as usual is likely to be at the beginning of September.

What we know so far:
- All of last year's professional dancers, with the exception of Pasha Kovalev who bowed out in February, will be returning. Dianne Buswell confirmed on Sunday Brunch last weekend that the pro dancers start rehearsals at the end of this month.
- Dame Darcey Bussell will not be returning as a judge - her replacement is yet to be confirmed, but several names including Adam Garcia and Anton Du Beke have been rumoured to take her place.
- On the rumoured contestants list so far: DJ Dev Griffiths from BBC 1Xtra, Coronation Street's Jack P Shepherd, Boyzone star Keith Duffy, historian and presenter Lucy Worsley, social media star and cleaning expert Mrs Hinch, Atomic Kitten star Natasha Hamilton, former Blue Peter presenter Radzi Chinyanganya, former TOWIE star Dan Osborne and comedian/chatty man Alan Carr.
- Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will return as hosts of the show, whilst Zoe Ball will continue to present 'It Takes Two' weeknights on BBC Two once the live shows start, joined this series by a new co-presenter in Rylan Clark-Neal.

I doubt ITV would give Jack time off to jump over to the BBC laugh.gif

Last year was the first time I've been invested in a series of Strictly, hyped for this new one!

Alan Carr would be amazing *.*

Oh well here's hoping then because I've always wanted to see Jack do one of these kinda shows! I know Bev Callard has referenced in the past how she'd love to do it but ITV won't let her..

^ The article about it

Posted by: Liаm Jul 17 2019, 10:12 PM

Natalie had left Corrie at that point tbf so she was free to do what she wanted!

I'm here for Dan Osborne for one reason only *.* Natasha Hamilton can not tho, she was absolutely dreadful on CBB.

Posted by: Liаm Jul 22 2019, 03:05 PM

Motsi Mabuse, Oti's sister and judge on Germany's version, has been announced as Darcey's replacement for this series!

Posted by: Jade Jul 22 2019, 03:15 PM

An unexpected choice! ohmy.gif I wonder what that means for Oti, if there'll be a conflict of interest or if she'll be stepping down as a pro. Tbf I don't think it's much of an issue, Motsi judged Oti before on Let's Dance and I don't think there was any backlash over that. I've just been reading a bit more about it and apparently she came across as unbiased. Good to see that they have chosen someone with both dance and judging credentials, plus she seemed like a big personality on Celebrity Gogglebox. Potentially a great choice.

Posted by: ElectroBoy Jul 22 2019, 05:25 PM

Whilst I know that they are 'professionals; does seem a bit of a conflict of interests having a relative as a Pro.

Maybe Oti is sitting out this year?

Posted by: Liаm Jul 22 2019, 05:37 PM

They're professionals and adults, I'm sure it will be fine.

Julianne Hough was a judge on DWTS while her brother Derek was a dancer, andthat was fine, plus Motsi already did it in Germany with Oti as Jade said.

Posted by: J▲hq Jul 22 2019, 05:46 PM

Let's just be grateful it isn't Anton, or Harry Judd who was also rumoured

I'm delighted that the BBC are continuing to showcase diversity and aren't retreating to a three men & one woman line-up, and Motsi has the experience to back it up.

Damn would have loved Adam Garcia he's so pretty lol!

Posted by: ThePensmith Jul 23 2019, 03:42 PM

I'd have thought that would be a conflict of interest with Motsi being a judge whilst Oti is a dancer on the show?

I've just had an e-mail from BBC Shows and Tours confirming that the Red Carpet Launch is being filmed on 26th August and the Launch Show is being filmed on 30th August - ticket ballots have just opened for both on their website.

and Season 19 (her debut judging season) was the best dwts season by far so if the stars align this could be good for strictly x

Posted by: Medellíam Jul 24 2019, 11:14 AM

The judges judge the contestants rather than the pros so I can't see it being a problem, especially when there's three other judges on the panel too.

Posted by: Klaus Jul 24 2019, 12:09 PM

Will just be a shame that Oti won’t be able to win the series otherwise you get the wine mums going ‘I smell FIX 😡😡 xx’

I have no doubts she’ll be professional though and it’s nice to see a more unexpected choice on the panel who has the right experience.

Posted by: Mack. Jul 24 2019, 03:33 PM

Do we reckon there could be someone from Downton Abbey this year with the movie coming out in September?

Posted by: Spiceboy Jul 27 2019, 09:39 AM

Just noticed that Rylan is joking Zoe Ball, he has done so well for himself since leaving X Factor, although not in the music field he is definitely one of the most successful contestants from that show!

Posted by: Liаm Jul 28 2019, 12:23 PM

Looks like.the following are competing:

Anneka Rice
Emma Barton
Catherine Tyldsley
Mike Bushnell

Posted by: Jαsє Jul 28 2019, 12:30 PM

CATH AND EMMA *.*

Posted by: AdamAloud Jul 28 2019, 01:54 PM

I'm gonna need Anneka Rice to make this jump from a helicopter on episode 1 thank you

Posted by: ThePensmith Jul 28 2019, 06:31 PM

ANNEKA RICE wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif

Also I've read rumours today of Jamie Laing from Made in Chelsea signing up to do it. Can see him doing it for sure, he's been to that show what Mark Wright was to TOWIE when he did the show in 2014 and he's established himself as a presenter and TV personality since so seems feasible enough!

Posted by: Klaus Jul 28 2019, 09:03 PM

omg no, i dont even watch religiously or anything but he pops up on every reality TV/panel show in existence

Posted by: Jαsє Jul 28 2019, 11:10 PM

Yeah he can be kept

Posted by: Liаm Jul 28 2019, 11:38 PM

Ffs if they're gonna stop being snobby about reality TV, there's so many better options! Maura from Love Island plz x

I'm also seeing rumours of Mrs Hinch to capitalise on social media personalities after Joe Sugg did so well.

But then I guess it is August tomorrow - this year feels like its going too fast

GMB have said the first three that will be confirmed on the One Show are to be:

Anneka Rice, Sam Allardyce and Jamie Laing

Although seems a bit odd for ITV to pre-empt the Beeb announcement in such a way... obviously haven't got their own programming to promote

Posted by: Mack. Jul 31 2019, 02:28 PM

Sam Allardyce

May be one of the worst dancers who may stay in week after week.

Posted by: ElectroBoy Jul 31 2019, 03:09 PM

Anther 2 names which seem to feature in articles:

Tina (S Club)
Bradley (The Vamps)

Posted by: Liаm Jul 31 2019, 06:15 PM

The One Show just revealed David James as the first celebrity!

And Chris Ramsey *.*

Posted by: Mack. Jul 31 2019, 06:46 PM

Yay for Emma! I'm not familiar with Chris but he's nice to look at I guess tongue.gif

Confirmed

David James (England Goalkeeper)
Chris Ramsay (Comedian)
Emma Barton (EastEnders actress)
Saffron Barker (Youtuber)

Posted by: Jade Aug 1 2019, 08:37 AM

Isn't she the one who complained and rolled her eyes on camera about her train journey getting delayed, because of someone committing suicide? Yikes

Looks like Joe Sugg has really paved the way for YouTubers on the show!

God this list is pretty dire so far... we need some better celebs and pronto.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Aug 4 2019, 11:04 AM

Chris Ramsey’s from the same place as me!! He should prove popular with the public could see him actually being quite decent as well. (South Shields).

Saffron could go either way on the show. With Joe he had a huge following and was pretty popular is Saffron as popular as Joe? I only knew of her from the whole train cancellation story.

Emma Barton will probably unfortunately be this years ‘she shouldn’t be on the show’ contestant up to now. Given that she once said herself she was too experienced lol maybe a judges favourite but not a winner.

Catherine too should be good. She’s been rumoured to do like every show going she was rumoured for Celeb X factor and I’m a celebrity so it’s good to see her on strictly. I think she’ll prove popular too with the public.

Not all that familiar with the rest of them.

Thinking we’ll probably get a musician signing though. One of the Vamps has been rumoured.

Could we maybes get another Casualty / Holby signing as well?

Posted by: Jαsє Aug 4 2019, 05:21 PM

Emma Weymouth is next to be confirmed

It's getting to the stage where it's a 2018 line-up level of "who?" drama.gif

Posted by: Jαsє Aug 4 2019, 05:23 PM

Emma Thynn, Viscountess Weymouth (née McQuiston; born 19 March 1986), commonly known as Emma Weymouth, is an English chef, model, and philanthropist. When her husband, Ceawlin Thynn, Viscount Weymouth, succeeds his father, Alexander Thynn, 7th Marquess of Bath as the 8th Marquess of Bath, she will become the first Black marchioness in British history.

Posted by: LexC Aug 4 2019, 06:15 PM

So I genuinely only recognised her from the trip me and the family made to Longleat at Easter (and by recognise I mean "saw on a few posters and some publicity material").

Lowkey think this is a pick for the wardrobe department to put her in a series of v lovely frocks.

Posted by: ElectroBoy Aug 5 2019, 08:02 AM

Michelle Visage; just confirmed

Posted by: kye Aug 5 2019, 08:47 AM

Posted by: Liаm Aug 5 2019, 09:27 AM

YAAAS

Her, Emma and Cath are good picks plus Chris Ramsey is hot but have to agree about the rest of the lineup so far.

Some table tennis paralympian now revealed..

Thank god for Michelle visage is all I can say at this point.

Someone’s being announced on Loose Women at 1:15

A young slim male judging by the silhouette of him.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Aug 5 2019, 11:49 AM

I can see Michelle Visage being good but idk how the Strictly audience will take to her?

I’m talking like the mid to older females who don’t really know who she is.

I can sort of see her being queen of the dance off maybe? I can see her being a good dancer. Just don’t know how she’ll connect to the audience on Strictly.

With CBB it was different bc the average viewer was younger and they knew who she was.

I mean I'm not expecting Brad Pitt and Lady Gaga but still laugh.gif

Posted by: Mack. Aug 5 2019, 01:55 PM

Will Bayley, I think he's a Paralympic gold medallist at table tennis. Can't say I'm familiar with him. Another relatively unknown Paralympican taking part then. I'm not sure how much coverage he had when he won gold.

Posted by: Liаm Aug 5 2019, 02:09 PM

Michelle alone saves it tbh but it is dire, one of those where I've got a couple I'm really looking forward to (her and Cath) then most of the rest I couldn't care less. Strictly is one of those shows where it's great either way but it is nice to have a good lineup so you're hyped and invested to the max from the start.

They've been confirmed by the Sun, but not by the Beeb (yet)

Posted by: Klaus Aug 6 2019, 11:57 AM

Alex Scott (England footballer and now Football Pundit) has been announced.

Really suprised at her as her pundit career seems to be going from strength to strength! I know it feels a bit contradictory to the whole ‘there’s no celebrities’ comments but it feels an odd time for her to go on as she’s not at that point of needing to make a name for herself or where her media career has/is peaking. I guess it’s building on the success of Woman’s football though and she’s probably partially doing it to further increase its coverage.

Posted by: Wall Aug 7 2019, 09:17 AM

The line up isn’t really flattering at all, is it?

Posted by: ElectroBoy Aug 7 2019, 09:35 AM

Barring Michelle's brief pop career, there aren't any singer/ popstars.

Which from a 'ringer' perspective should make this series pretty open given last year Faye and Ashley were a lock for the final unless they came up against each other due to how good they were.

it's clear they want a drama-free series. that's probably why they wanted to stay away from popstars + chose middle of the road 'celebs'.
the whole seann walsh debacle, plus faye & ashley receiving a lot of backlash meant the beeb were in a state of damage control from early on.

Posted by: Liаm Aug 7 2019, 11:48 AM

Emma will be the ringer, I'm sure I read she has a bit of a dance background

Posted by: Klaus Aug 7 2019, 12:09 PM

Any dance background will only be revealed as soon as said celebrity tops the scoreboard so the tabloids can get maximum impact/outrage.

Not directly relevant but just look at the Daily Star today having it’s front page headline based on one joke sarcastic tweet from Gary Linekar.

Posted by: pippa Aug 7 2019, 01:41 PM

I look forward to Emma Barton as it will be a chance to get to know her outside her role as Honey in EastEnders.

Emma Barton is stuffed getting Anton!

I thought Anneka would’ve gotten him.

I had a feeling AJ would get Saffron and the other Emma Alijaz based on height and age but the rest of them I’m fairly surprised at.

Give the man some credit though, he made a final as recently as 2015 with Katie Derham. Can't wait to see Anneka on this. She's one of my all time favourite telly people and I love her on her Radio 2 show as well.

Posted by: ElectroBoy Sep 7 2019, 01:28 PM

One of the Papers is saying Jamie's Replacement

Is

Kelvin Fletcher (Ex-Emmerdale)

Although, there is a tweet from

Sunday Brunch indicating possibly Tim Lovejoy and is going to be announced on Sunday Brunch

Posted by: lewistgreen Sep 7 2019, 11:08 PM

Kelvin Fletcher has now been officially announced as the replacement. HELLO

Posted by: Liаm Sep 7 2019, 11:19 PM

YES, think of him in the tight trousers and open shirts *.*

Posted by: ThePensmith Sep 8 2019, 08:55 AM

Sad for Jamie Laing that it ended before it even started, I reckon he would have been quite good. Mind I suppose it's not out the question he could do the Christmas special next year? Not this year obviously. Less pressure for him as well cause his foot would have recovered by then.

Kelvin's a good replacement though, and I'm sure he'll be a hit with the audience and fans of the show.

Some interesting matches this year. I think the CBBC dude - Kerim? - could do quite well on this. That was funny with Anton as well when he got his partner. So nice to see Neil get a partner at last too!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Sep 8 2019, 09:55 AM

Could Jamie properly do it next year as part of the official line up.

I vaguely remember someone pulling out Dancing On Ice due to injury but they eventually come back to do it the following season or maybe the season after.

Posted by: Liаm Sep 8 2019, 11:31 AM

Michael Underwood that was, Drag Race also did it and allowed someone to come back due to injury - I'm sure there's other examples too. It'd be a nice thing to do, it must be gutting to come so close to getting an opportunity like this and have no choice but to pull out because of an injury sad.gif

Bookies top 3 are Karim, Emma and Alex. Karim is probably going to be instantly good and the problem with that is the public do like a journey so I don't think he'll win. For some reason I think Emma will be the big shock elimination of the series. I'm going with Alex!

Prediction - Chris and Karen

Likeable and I think will have potential

Posted by: Liаm Sep 9 2019, 09:34 PM

I'm gonna go Alex too I think, but I think Cath could be a dark horse journey type like Stacey was, she's very likeable too.

Karim and Emma feel like the ones who'll be too good and end up going too early I agree! Emma will be alight for a good while being known through EE and being with Anton, but Karim is gonna do an Aston Merrygold I feel.

Anyone who’s immediately good never really wins Strictly.

I’d never vote for anyone to win who’s consistently been good and hasn’t really say improved.

Catherine, Chris and Alex I can see doing well though possibly Kelvin Fletcher too.

Emma (from Eastenders) and Karim I don’t think will win but can see the judges getting them quite far.

Michelle Visage as the shock exit.

She's American and in most reality TV shows (barring Gary Busey) tend to struggle vote wise. So Michelle leaving early wouldn't be a huge shock.

Kind of new to this: each week a couple is knocked out right? And it’s one episode per week on a Saturday? So this Saturday a couple with the least votes leaves, then it continues as such ?

In the first week no-one goes, but in week 2 one couple will, then one will leave each week until the final. They dance on Saturday, but the results show is on Sunday. In the results show, the two couples will the smallest scores (between the judges and audience votes) will compete in the dance-off, with the judges choosing their least favourite to be eliminated.

If you want to know who’s out on Saturday you can find the result on Digital Spy or Twitter. It’s usually out at around 11pm-ish as the results show isn’t live but it is shown on the next day.

But this week there’s no elimination smile.gif so everyone dances at least twice.

Kelvin & Oti smashed it!!

Posted by: kye Sep 21 2019, 07:23 PM

oh my god, that was hotter than harry’s dances in his season. kelvin + oti were on fire and so was i!

Posted by: Liаm Sep 21 2019, 10:42 PM

I'm feeling a really strong series this year! Kelvin of course SMASHED it tonight, by far the best. To do a samba like that week 1 is incredible, I can't wait to see more of him (hopefully literally x). Oti is a perfect partner for him too, she always brings a lot out of her partners with a fun routine, same goes for Katya but Oti is up there as a choreographer too. I can't wait to see their salsa and rumba, imagine wub.gif

I also loved Michelle, I was very surprised as I didn't expect her to be very good but she had so much energy and sass and killed it, there's also a huge amount of potential in the likes of Dev, Catherine, Emma and Alex.

Is it just me who can't stand Karim already though? laugh.gif He's giving me Aston Merrygold teas, showing off a bit and a bit up himself.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Sep 21 2019, 10:57 PM

Liam! You seem to be in agreement with my mam. I watched it with her and she also said she thinks he’s full of himself. I have to admit at the minute I don’t see it myself but now you mention Aston I do feel he may have a similar Strictly journey to him. He’s not gonna be a journey contestant where he gets better and his fans aren’t strictly voters so if he has one dodgy week he could well be a shock exit or be a Simon Webbe like finalist who’s often in the dance off.

So far the males seem to be pretty good this year! But tonight’s leaderboard was a bit surprising.

To me Michelle was very overscored I’d have gave her like 24 at best for that. Mike was also overscored in my opinion.

But I feel some we’re under scored. Chris Ramsey, Alex and Catherine deserved higher.

Poor Emma Barton though. Her comments were quite harsh. I’m guessing she got a tougher ride because she’s actually capable and has some experience but she was definitely the best female tonight but the comments seemed to give her a real bashing! Shirley especially (she’s my crush Shirley so I love her) but I can so tell she’s much nicer to the males than the females when giving feedback.

I feel like we’re in for an unpredictable series as always!

I think the contestants who fell in the middle of the leaderboard will likely be the most popular with the public vote though which makes the first dance off a bit unpredictable. .

Kelvin has set the bar HIGH but when you’re doing that on week one everything he does now will come with pressure.

On another note I like Motsi a LOT!! She’s constructive but very nice and I like her personality.

It's how he was doing like the little shakes and flourishes and practically leaping over the car bonnet etc., just a load of little show off moves that didn't even really add a lot to the routine, it just made him seem a bit full of himself and like he had to show off mid-routine.

Posted by: Call Me Cody Sep 22 2019, 04:43 AM

my personal scores:

8 | Kelvin & Oti
7 | Karim & Amy
7 | Michelle & Giovanni
7 | Saffron & AJ
7 | Emma W. & Aljaz
7 | Alex & Neil
7 | Dev & Dianne
7 | Emma B. & Anton
6 | Will & Janette
6 | Catherine & Johannes
6 | Mike & Katya
6 | Anneka & Kevin
5 | Chris & Karen
3 | James & Luba

I think I would have bumped Karim & Amy to an 8 had there not been a ton of flailing bc whatever cha cha content they had was super clean and precise. Kelvin and Michelle were also standouts for Week 1; Kelvin’s was fiery hot throughout while Michelle’s was subtle and classy and let her body finish throughout the dance. Saffron & both Emmas were a nice surprise.

On the flip side I thought Chris’ dance had a lot of potential but a lot of the time he just looked stiff. James has a good visual but his dancing... keep it. And another thing... trust Kevin to make an average dancer look great.

Gonna cautiously predict Kelvin for the win. Idk. I just get that vibe.

absolutely! i’m seeing bottom 2 for him consistently + the ‘shock’ exit. he won’t be liked by the public because it definitely was coming across as cocky + he will have absolutely no fan base because cbbc viewers don’t watch strictly.

i can see a kelvin win too - he’s just got it all. he’s humble so viewers will love that. he’s already had a journey of sorts.. and oti is due a win. really loving michelle, she pulled it right out of the bag! i really hope that she can connect because she deserves to go far!

no other real stand-outs for me. i think there were lots with potential but if james isn’t first out, there’ll be hell to pay.

100%, like I said I get Aston vibes! I think he's one of those who will pretty much have to hit it every single week because if he drops one week the loss of scoreboard points will probably see him in the bottom 2, of course being one of the better dancers thus far will see him through if he falls into the bottom 2 too soon, but one bad week and he's definitely going to do an Aston when he got eliminated over Molly with that Viennese Waltz.

He’s either going to be an Aston or a Simon Webbe if he manages to get to the final.

I feel the contestants who the public will get behind fell in the middle to lower end of the leaderboard tbh.

We’re gonna a few undeserved early exits this year and a few who’ll stay longer than they should.

Eeek at remembering that Aston week though. I don’t know who was more shocked me or Aston himself. I had Alexandra as the shock exit that year not Aston!

I actually thought Aston’s public vote might’ve increased that week tbh too but it seemed he never had a big public vote to start with. I wish we got strictly voting stats 😭

Posted by: Liаm Sep 22 2019, 11:59 AM

I think that's one of the times I've been most shocked at a reality TV show! There wasn't too much backlash so I just didn't see it coming, especially the judges saving Molly over him. That's what I like about Strictly, they actually do base the dance-off on the performance they're given so one bad week can see you out.

I’m nit picking here as I agree with what you’re saying. However I feel like if it’s a 2-2 split they should send home whoever had the lowest public vote. I don’t like the whole “head” judge thing in a dance-off. However those types of results are as most of the time it’s like a 4-0 type result in the dance off.

Posted by: Jαsє Sep 22 2019, 09:04 PM

Aww I like Karim! He's a bundle of energy and he seems to be a natural on the dancefloor.

Obvs Kelvin stole the show! To be THAT good in the first week is just whoa. I dunno if he'll win tho? I fear he may do an Aston sad.gif

Michelle had SO much more energy than I was expecting - was totally blown away by her!

Saffron and Emma both have a LOT of potential. I thought Shirley was a little too hard on Emma mellow.gif

James was by FAR the worst of the night drama.gif

Posted by: Jordan Lee Sep 22 2019, 09:44 PM

Karim is more likely to do an Aston.

I think Kelvins popular right now.

But personally if he stays at that standard throughout when it comes to the end of the show that’s when he may not get the votes as that’s when the “underdogs” start to really shine.

IK it’s a dancing show but I always vote for who I thinks become the better dancer when it comes to the final rather than who’s been great throughout. I’m not keen on winners on this or on Dancing On Ice tbh who’ve been the best or at a high standard from Day 1. Thankfully with Strictly the winner usually is someone who’s genuinely great at the end but who’s been on a real journey.

Posted by: Mack. Sep 23 2019, 03:31 PM

James tried his best, I just hope the judges realise how much work he has to put in because of his brain injury.

Posted by: Spiceboy Sep 28 2019, 07:48 AM

Posted by: Jordan Lee Sep 28 2019, 10:39 AM

The very first results night tonight!!

I really am going to try and not look at the spoiler but I just know I’ll cave by 11pm laugh.gif

Pretty excited to see how the judges leaderboard switches this week.

Kelvin I feel will probably still be top.

But I think Alex, both Emma’s and Chris will likely move up.

Catherine’s got a tricky dance tonight so I’m unsure of her but the public vote will definitely save her.

Posted by: Liаm Sep 29 2019, 11:40 AM

Michelle joint top wub.gif She is gonna SLAY this for sure. A very lacklustre week for me, it was only Chris and Michelle who really impressed me by getting better, even better in Michelle's case as she was already brilliant last week. A few others were a point or two better but nothing hugely noticeable. Ofc Karim was objectively good but I just can't take to him one bit!

As for the spoiler... James and David dance-off, David saved unanimously

Posted by: Jordan Lee Sep 29 2019, 12:01 PM

Michelle did get me this week. Last week I thought she was way overmarked but this week she was the best on the night.

Chris doubling his score too made up for the fact he was undermarked last week.

Alex was still a bit undermarked for me though yet again.

I definitely feel like this is going to be a very unpredictable series though.

I think Catherine and Emma (EastEnders) will have their moments in weeks to come. I feel they’re doing very well in the public vote but leaderboard wise they’re middling. I feel both will be stronger at the ballroom but it’s good Catherine got that dance out the way early so I think she can only go up. Anneka will also be another one who’s stronger at the ballroom as she was pretty good last night.

Michelle, Karim and Kelvin however I feel started off very well and may lack the journey to secure the win.

Kelvins week one dance was still the best dance across the first two weeks however.

As for the spoiler I’m not that shocked. Although I sort of felt it might not have been unanimous just going off the scores on the night. Although it’s possible there was dance off improvement.

Special mention it Will this week too. That’s someone who genuinely seems to be loving the experience.

Posted by: ThePensmith Sep 29 2019, 10:00 PM

I'm just going to call it now: Will and Janette will be in it until the end. He reminds me a bit of Ore Oduba in that I think he's gonna grow as the series progresses. Love that Anneka and Kevin are still in, her waltz was lovely and I love her boundless enthusiasm.

Not surprised James went, he was terrible!

Posted by: Call Me Cody Sep 29 2019, 11:00 PM

personal scores week 2:

8 | Michelle & Giovanni
8 | Karim & Amy
7 | Kelvin & Oti
7 | Saffron & AJ
7 | Dev & Dianne
7 | Emma B. & Anton
6 | Chris & Karen
6 | Emma W. & Aljaz
6 | Catherine & Johannes
6 | Will & Janette
6 | Alex & Neil
5 | Anneka & Kevin
5 | Mike & Katya
3 | James & Luba

The only thing I didn’t really like about Kelvin’s dance was that it was so slow, but it fits the style and he pulled it off well. Michelle blew me away and Karim’s dance was also outstanding.

I’m gonna be in the minority and say that Saffron was the one who surprised me this week. I thought she’d be much worse in the coming weeks but she’s holding her own. Emma B. was also a nice surprise given Anton ramped up the difficulty, I just want her to get out of her head bc she handled the increased difficulty well!

A lot of the 5’s/6’s were decent/good but forgettable, the exception being Mike. Everything else was a big pile of dookie but props to Katya for the challenging lifts.

James Cracknell's jive is the worst jive I've EVER seen drama.gif

https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/10030956/strictly-come-dancing-james-cracknell-rant/

He apparently had a meltdown backstage after he was eliminated

Posted by: Jordan Lee Sep 30 2019, 12:13 AM

“The insider said James had thought Michelle Visage, 51, would be the first to go but “it felt to him like producers were promoting her and giving her a lot of air time”.

Why would he think Michelle would go first!

Even if she was in the dance off (which mathematically would require the public score to be reverse of the judges for that to happen) who would she get sent home over.

I think it’s exaggerated or made up. But James is probably used to be pretty good at everything he does and he sees himself as a leader and someone who likes to tell others what to do, how to improve etc that’s what I get off seeing him on other shows. With it being the other way round on this and it being him getting criticism it’s something he doesn’t take well.

I think it’s better for him to go now. He didn’t seem to be enjoying it very much.

Posted by: Liаm Sep 30 2019, 01:34 AM

Posted by: Liаm Oct 6 2019, 12:06 AM

Bowled over by Catherine's Rumba!! For a Rumba this early in the competition that was brilliant and it shows she could really be the Stacey of this series! Statistically I think the Rumba is one of the absolute hardest to do, it's got so much technique and with such a slow dance with that much technique, there's nowhere to hide as well so for someone who struggled the first couple of weeks, that was a real breakthrough, honestly I think she should have had a 9 or two chucked in but that might just be that I was so shook given where she was for the first two weeks compared to that.

On the other end of the scale, definitely a step down for Karim. I think he was lucky it was Movie Week and it was fun and entertaining otherwise his score probably would have been even lower. The way that he attacks dances usually and his tricks go well with some dances but a samba just wasn't the one for that.

Michelle and Kelvin were my fave this week though, the latter with the highest week 3 score ever ohmy.gif I think 10s were a little bit OTT for him but that was a bloody brilliant Charleston. It's absolutely mad to think he wasn't even originally cast for this series!! Dev was also great, the couples choice is often great and it really really fit him so he came alive. This series is so strong!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 6 2019, 12:22 AM

Yes! Catherine does give Stacey vibes. I think from week 3 or 4 Stacey just suddenly really improved after being in the middle in the first two weeks. Catherine struggled a lot last week so to get 32 this week was a big improvement I definitely think she’s a real contender for the overall win.

She’s personable enough that doesn’t come across as cocky, she’s already known to the public so she isn’t one of the ones who people will say who’s she at and I feel like having a hard time at the start goes a long way. Before they even danced she was who I would’ve put a bet on to win I feel I might actually do this now!

I also feel Alex might have her real moment too and get like a 8 or 9 point improvement in score. She’s just always at the cusp of showing it but reigns it in slightly.

With Kelvins week one dance being THAT good and now getting 10s already just where does he go.

If he gets 38 or more now every week until the final it just lacks a journey as great as he is. Like some people don’t even get 38 in the actual final!! Where does he go from here getting that in week three and what’s the chances of him always maintaining that streak?!

Kinda wish they’d saved the tens for later on he’s really sort of set himself up how as being the one to beat and it’s gonna bring so much pressure. He’s one of those contestants who I can’t deny the talent but I don’t really enjoy the ones who are always good I love seeing progression.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 6 2019, 12:41 AM

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 6 2019, 09:36 PM

Anneka seemed like she wanted to go tbh as did James last week.

I do feel for David though two dance offs in a row now I hope he gets a break next week as he is actually trying but it’s probably likely he’ll actually be out next week tbh.

Catherine also appeared to Confirm a Charleston for her next week to Single Ladies.

Posted by: ThePensmith Oct 6 2019, 10:13 PM

Sad as I am to see Anneka go - she's one of my favourites and I'd genuinely like to be friends with her in real life - that Charleston was a shambles. Kill Bill isn't a natural partner with a traditionally upbeat and smiley dance number. As Miranda Hart once said on It Takes Two - 'What next - a Charleston to Eminem?' I mean really. I hope the Beeb see sense and bring back Challenge Anneka for another run now off the back of this.

Mike Bushell is very lucky the focus was on other couples and not him this week because he is by far the most hopeless dancer there this series. Sadly I think he'll be the Balls/Sergeant quotient this year.

Will and Janette's Poke Doble was aces, full credit to the makeup and costume team on that and Dave Arch and the singers for actually nailing the theme tune. I still stand by them as my favourites now Anneka and Kevin are out, he has such a love of dance and potential to grow now.

Kelvin and Oti were good but he's nothing more than Danny Mac runner up material again, there's no journey with 10s this early on.

That's an odd song for a Charleston but I'm here for it!

Michelle is doing a Salsa and Saffron has Couples' Choice.

the majority of catherine’s dance was pretty good but YOU DON’T DO LIFTS IN A RUMBA

Posted by: Dexton Oct 8 2019, 12:35 AM

I adored Dev this week, they looked like they had so much fun performing and that feels more important than anything I think. Also enjoyed seeing basically everyone improve on the last two weeks besides Aneeka (I love her personality but that was cringe to watch laugh.gif). I’m not a huge fan of David but I hope he doesn’t have to dance off for a third week in a row.

With this being the first time I’m genuinely watching the show all the way through I’m a bit surprised by how likeable almost every contestant is. I’m so used to overly dramatic reality shows where each episode has villains or people to root against or forced drama, but this is just pure enjoyment all around that’s so peaceful to watch. I love how it’s a huge event of a show too, something to look forward to every Sunday/Monday for me heart.gif

At this point I can see Catherine, Kelvin, Michelle easily making it to the end. Idk how well non-UK celebs fare on here but she seems very popular with judges and audiences so far. Saffron, Alex, and Chris I would love to grow too as personal favourites. I would love for Will to go far also

Posted by: Liаm Oct 8 2019, 04:21 PM

Next week's songs/dances:

Alex & Neil - Tango (Go Your Own Way)
Catherine & Johannes - Charleston (Single Ladies)
Chris & Karen - Jive (Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting)
Daivd & Nadiya - Quickstep (From Now On)
Dev & Dianna - Cha Cha (Dancing With A Stranger)
Emma B & Anton - Viennese Waltz (Send In The Clowns)
Emma W & Aljaz - Jive (Kids In America)
Kelvin & Oti - Rumba (Ain't No Sunshine)
Michelle & Giovanni - Salsa (Quimbara)
Mike & Katya - Quickstep (Come On Eileen)
Saffron & AJ - Contemporary (Because You Loved Me)
Will & Janette - Foxtrot (Senorita)

A lot of strange choices compared to the dances they're doing but I'm looking forward to Michelle's salsa for sure *.*

Ashley Roberts made the final last year (albeit having been in the dance-off 3 times despite being objectively the best dancer), I think the only other foreign celeb who has got to the final are Pamela Stephenson and Jason Donovan who are Kiwi and Aussie respectively ofc.

If they're good enough then definitely I can't see why not - Michelle certainly is! She's very likeable, and doesn't have the dance background furore that Ashley had so I can definitely see her doing it and getting there *.*

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 8 2019, 05:15 PM

I still feel the winner will be one of the following 5.

Catherine
Alex
Kelvin
Will
Emma Barton

Michelle won’t win outright but I could see her in the final. With LGBT she has a huge fanbase but do women take to her that’s the question. I can’t see her winning the whole thing. She’s the one I’m a bit unsure of it’ll take a dodgy dance from her where she isn’t high on the leaderboard for me to see if she’s popular or not.

Dev and Karim will be in a dance off together at some point later down the line. I think Dev will go further on public votes alone than what Karim will but Karim could easily be in the dance off a few times in my opinion like who are his fanbase? I can’t see Saffron winning the whole thing either she’s likely to get 5th or 6th. She’s not as known as Joe or as popular as what he was and she’s probably to many right now seen as an afterthought like oh yeah she’s good but she’s not who people will talk of straight away.

Posted by: LexC Oct 8 2019, 05:53 PM

If Kelvin's scores don't drop off in a major way after this week then I think he'll be unbeatable (and I am fine with that, Queen Oti finally getting her crown *.*). Other than that I think her natural talent, gay fanbase and the producers wanting her to be around as long as possible will keep Michelle in to the final Faye Tozer style but it'd take a miracle for her to actually win the thing. Then I think there's two 'brackets' for the last two final spots which'll be Dev vs Karim for the "hip young male" and Catherine vs Emma for the "female soapstar" slot. If I had to call it now I'd say that the rough finishing order will be

FINALISTS
Kelvin
Catherine
Michelle
Karim

NEARLY RANS
Emma B
Dev
Saffron
Will

MIDDLERS
Alex
Emma W

NO HOPERS
Chris
Mike
David

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 8 2019, 07:58 PM

I think if Kelvin gets 10s every week though it’ll put people off voting for him to win the whole thing.

He could well have a “Jay” dance this week. Like didn’t say Jay have a less popular dance after his Jive?

The winner is usually like the third or fourth best dancer overall and it’s hardly ever who the judges like the best across the whole thing at least that’s how it’s gone lately.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 8 2019, 11:21 PM

Kelvin only got 28 for his Waltz, I think he's going to be better at the sexy Latin dances and the fun ones like Charleston, I can't see him being as good as the slow ones. We'll see how his Rumba goes as that's another side he'll have to nail, very different to his Charleston and Samba but not the same kind of slow as the waltz. They do tend to be a bit overgenerous on movie week, not usually to the point of 10s, but I don't think it's going to be the case that Kelvin is gonna get 10s every week from now on.

What a unpredictable show!

This will be the first dance off so far where I don’t think any of the judges bottom 2 will be there.

I’ve voted for David twice just because I really don’t want him there three weeks In a row and he evidently improved too. My other vote went to Emma W because I had a gut feeling telling me she needed my vote more than some of the others.

I want some of whatever Motsi was on to give Mike a 9, so in her mind he was on a par with Kelvin and Emma and better than Michelle, Saffron and Catherine rotf.gif

Mike's 9 was utterly ridiculous

Some very weird scores this evening, but overall an enjoyable show - Love Chris more and more smile.gif

I'll predict an Alex Emma W bottom 2. Though Alex could be replaced with David or Chris

Posted by: Liаm Oct 12 2019, 09:49 PM

I'd have thought it'd be Alex and Emma W too but I've got a feeling Dev may be down there too as a mini shock. Alex just isn't improving really so I hope so she goes out of those tbh, maybe she needs more work but like it's week 4 you'd think she'd be showing a lot more than she has so far!

Emma B was easily my favourite tonight, I don't usually like VWs that much but it was stunning and she really smashed it wub.gif

Posted by: Mack. Oct 12 2019, 09:54 PM

Could be Will and Alex in the bottom two. How did Mike get a 9. I think only Motsi has the answer into that.

He was in dance off with Emma Weymouth

Spoiler of who is out and who was saved in dance off

Posted by: LexC Oct 12 2019, 10:16 PM

Spoiler's out:

Dev and Viscountess Emma were in the dance off with Dev being eliminated

Posted by: Jade Oct 12 2019, 10:18 PM

ohmy.gif gutted!

Posted by: ElectroBoy Oct 12 2019, 10:22 PM

Surprised; but given the bizarre scoring, its not that shocking!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 12 2019, 10:23 PM

The leaderboard tonight and the way the judges scored some people highly who are usually low to me felt like we were due a bit of a shocker in terms of who went and the dance off.

However it does show you that Maybe Dev never had much of a public vote anyways. I had an inkling he wasn’t gonna do too well with the public but didn’t expect it this soon.

It also shows you that Alex and Will have good backing with the public.

Also it also shows the judges must’ve at least based their decision on the dance given he’s been higher scored every other week (I think that’s right isn’t it?)

again, the spoiler reveals who’s gone.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 12 2019, 10:25 PM

Blimey that's a shock! It just goes to show one bad dance and you can go, I had a feeling he'd be down there but I assumed that Alex might be down there too and obviously lose the dance-off

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 12 2019, 11:35 PM

On another note tonight did anyone else feel it was nice to see a bit of a shake up?

Some unexpected surprises and three people getting that breakthrough dance too! (Emma Barton, Mike and David).

Alex is really due hers but I do feel she has it in her to get a better score.

Didn’t Charles last year get the same score or something for like 5 weeks then he suddenly got like ten points more? Maybe she could have a similar fate to that.

But yeah without mentioning the result tonight was a night where everyone was good. In my personal markings I didn’t give anyone less than 5 and I gave around half of them the same score of 8!

Posted by: Liаm Oct 13 2019, 12:10 AM

It was nice to see a shake-up in the scoreboard, but I think there was some real overmarking tonight. The only one I think was a bit undermarked was Emma W who I feel could/should have got an 8 or two at least. I mean it wasn't perfect, but for Bruno to give her the same mark as Alex's deathly dull Tango??

I have a feeling people are going to be up in arms over the spoiler as overmarking for certain people have put them above Dev and that's surely be a huge reason why he fell into the bottom 2

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 13 2019, 01:07 AM

Some info here too what I thought I’d post

Alex and BOTH Emma’s are the only contestants who haven’t dropped in score points yet from the previous week

Emma Barton’s improved each week and Emma Weymouth and Alex both jumped in scores on week three then got the same score tonight.

Everyone else has at one point or other scored lower marks than the previous week at one points or other.

A little geeky stat. (James also didn’t drop in scores but he’s gone now xx)

Posted by: Klimawechsel Oct 13 2019, 07:07 PM

Now it's out I am surprised! However I think it was the correct decision in the dance-off! Dev's routine was just a bit dull and whilst he did a good job, it really did lack spark and wasn't particularly entertaining. I guess it's good to show that the decision is based off that week alone which is good but it is gutting as Dev had so much potential and just had one duff week.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 13 2019, 07:14 PM

The dance off was really close.

Emma was out of time and I don’t think she improved in the dance off where as to me Dev did.

But her routine was a bit more fun to watch where as Devs to me was better danced but wasn’t that exciting and i think he was limited to showing what he could have done.

Emma definitely thought she was out though!

Agreed, it's something I like and dislike about Strictly laugh.gif It keeps them on their toes to know that if you have one bad dance you should go, but equally whilst I didn't totally warm to him, it feels a bit off that someone as capable as Dev (getting 36 last week showed that) is out to someone who's more middling in ability who probably won't go that far. I do think it's fairer though that they base the decision based on what they're presented with in the dance-off! That way you're only as good as your last dance and it lights a bit of a fire to always bring your A-game rather than just relying on usually being good.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 14 2019, 01:32 PM

Basing it off the dance off is fair to me as well. I was a bit surprised it was a clean sweep I did feel maybe just one judge might’ve went for Dev for all four to go for Emma must show she done better.

I still think Dev to my eyes danced better in the dance off alone though but on the main show Emma was better.

Emma’s routine was better to watch though but Devs was danced better he was just not really shown enough of what he could do.

Had the judges saved Dev he could’ve gotten as far as around 6th place I think I never seen him as a finalist though.

Emma W I think will last to around the week after Halloween week now.

Posted by: pippa Oct 14 2019, 07:09 PM

Emma is improving each week in a very natural way, and she comes across as truly lovely person.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 18 2019, 05:03 PM

Dances/songs this week:

Emma and Anton: Paso Doble (Nothing Breaks Like A Heart)
Michelle and Giovanni: Rumba (Too Good At Goodbyes)
Kelvin and Oti: Cha-Cha (Get Stupid)
Chris and Karen: Quickstep (Let's Get Crazy)
Emma and Aljaz: Viennese Waltz (Saving All My Love For You)
Karim and Amy: Salsa (Who Let The Dogs Out)
Alex and Neil: Charleston (Pump Up The Jam)
Will and Janette: Contemporary (7 Years)
Catherine and Johannes: Tango (Little Bird)
David and Nadiya: Jive (Such A Night)
Mike and Katya: Samba (Jump On It)
Saffron and AJ: Foxtrot (New York, New York)

Screaming at the thought of the Strictly singers singing Who Let The Dogs Out!!

I’m hoping Will and Alex have a bit of a moment this week.

Especially Alex who I feel is really due one!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 19 2019, 07:28 PM

Omg Alex and Will actually had their moments this week.

Total different leaderboard this week and I think fairly scored tbh.

I didn’t really want Saffron top but she deserved 9s for that.

So glad Emma W slayed she got all my votes tonight.

David’s probably out but as for whos dancing off I don’t know! Maybes Chris?

Posted by: LexC Oct 19 2019, 07:42 PM

I'm worried for Michelle potentially dropping into the Dance Off (used the three votes for her accordingly) but either way I think it's David plus A.N. Other in the bottom two

Me too!

So glad Will, Alex and Emma W came through tonight and really just delivered.

Posted by: ElectroBoy Oct 19 2019, 07:52 PM

It should be David vs Mike... however no doubt Mike will escpae - his dance was an embarrassment.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 19 2019, 10:18 PM

Saffron is really impressing me, she had among my fave dances both this week and last week and is getting SO good! You can tell she's taking comments on board and is really growing into her technique. I was glad to see her top this week just so it wasn't Karim but I think she really deserved it. Alex was also brilliant this time, you could see her really let go and enjoy it which is what I felt was missing before, you could see her always thinking about what she was doing and that made her dances a bit laboured and forced, but that wasn't there tonight! Emma W's dance was beautiful too.

Michelle definitely wasn't at her best but a Rumba is so hard when you have absolutely nowhere to hide and she did her best.

On the other end of the scale, Mike was absolutely embarrassing. Cringe that Alfonso gave it a good 3 or 4 points higher than it deserves just because the dance inflated his ego.

Spoiler is out btw David vs Mike, David out - thank god Michelle wasn't down there like I feared!

Me too! I sobbed like a baby at his dance last night, as I'm sure the rest of the nation did. So beautiful and moving and he really seems to be coming into his own more and more. Janette is a fantastic pro dancer for him because she really builds up his strengths and ultimately his confidence.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 20 2019, 09:49 PM

I agree on Will I put him in my finalist list a few weeks ago!

I still think the winners one of

Alex
Catherine
Emma B
Kelvin
Or Will.

I don’t think they’ll be the top 5 but I just can’t see anyone outside of those winning.

Saffron I just can’t take too tbh. I think it’s because she makes out she’s this inspirational like figure in her VTS it’s a bit cringe.

With this series I’m enjoying that we’ve seen 3 couples so far top the leaderboard and then everyone else has had moments at different times too it’s unpredictable week on week for sure!

Bar Chris too hasn’t everyone scored more than 30 now that’s pretty good for this stage isn’t it?

Posted by: Liаm Oct 22 2019, 12:42 PM

Halloween week dances:

Alex & Neil: Street/Commercial (Ghostbusters)
Catherine & Johannes: Cha-Cha (Scared Of The Dark)
Chris & Karen: Samba (Everybody Backstreet's Back)
Emma & Anton: Tango (Toccata and Fugue in D Minor)
Emma & Aljaz: Charleston (A Little Party Never Killed Nobody)
Karim & Amy: Paso Doble (Smalltown Boy)
Kelvin & Oti: Tango (Bad Guy)
Michelle & Giovanni: Foxtrot (Addam's Family theme)
Mike & Katya: Tango (What You Waiting For)
Saffron & AJ: Jive (Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic)
Will & Janette: Jive (Casper)

I thought Halloween week might be our first 40, perhaps that will be Karim. I can't see Kelvin getting it for Tango. Alex getting another good dance, if Charleston was up her street I think the fun of a Street routine on Halloween week will be too. Mike's time is surely up this week, I can't see how Katya can really make a Tango fun/stupid like she usually does to try and hide the lack of ability.

Posted by: LexC Oct 22 2019, 12:50 PM

Catherine and Johannes once again providing the HIGH CAMP! *.*

Posted by: RobBob Oct 22 2019, 10:54 PM

They're really trying to give Alex a bit of a push at the moment, aren't they? Couldn't be a much better dance for her to follow that Charleston with to give her a bit of momentum.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 23 2019, 12:39 AM

I feel like it’s Mike or Chris going this week.

There’s a chance Mike could get a boost from being in dance off last week though.

Can see Alex continuing her streak though with that dance.

Wonder what the running order will be.

Catherine and Chris’s tracks feel very opening routine like as they’re the biggest party starter like tracks on there.

Kelvin opening last week should mean he’s on towards the end this week.

Strange song choices and dances what didnt match at all to the music.

So the first time this series there’s been a difference of opinion between the judges.

I always wish when it’s 2-2 it should go to who won the public vote rather than what one judge thinks but meh.

Catherine just had a naff night tonight. I was just about to say I expected she may have done better on the public vote yet someone on DS stated she could’ve actually come second and still been in the dance off.

It’s obv her on screen sisters cursing her they should’ve stayed away 😭😭.

Gah I’ll really miss Catherine she had so much more to give.

Alex is the journey female of the series now though.

Not much of a journey if she is handed 9's for awful routines laugh.gif

Michelle was the only one tongiht who *really* impressed me, I thought most people were a bit below what they're capable of. Alex was great too but I think they overmarked due having Kevin learn it last minute. She was a bit laboured, you could see her really thinking about the next move at all times and that affected the flow and the way it looked for me.

Karim's Paso I thought was quite bad, technically yes good but I can't stand how he puts in all the spins and twists and stuff like that, just because he can do them doesn't mean it needs to be done every routine. It just doesn't fit in a Paso and that shows in his score, sometimes it embellishes the routine but other times it takes away from the feel and technique.

Mike was absolutely terrible and I thought even the 6s were really pushing it. When you look at Craig giving that a point higher than Emma Barton's Tango!!

What the actual f*** at that spoiler.... She had so much more to give and whilst she did have the worse score, they totally overmarked Mike to a ridiculous degree so really it should have been the opposite.

Emma Barton is often underrmarked tbh.

She deserves better in general tbh although I guess out of everyone she has the biggest commitment outside of strictly so she probably is the least rehearsed contestant. Emma Barton is often underrmarked tbh.

She deserves better in general tbh although I guess out of everyone she has the biggest commitment outside of strictly so she probably is the least rehearsed contestant. With Michelle drag race has already been filmed in full hasn’t it? Asides from Mike and Karim who have day jobs on BBC Strictly is everyone else’s main project currently isn’t it.

Yep, Drag Race UK was filmed ages ago and S12 of the US one plus AS5 have been filmed so Michelle will be focusing mostly on it too.

Mike's dance would have been easier to watch if he was in classic ballroom tails rather than looking like an oversized rabbit, dancing with the wicked witch of the west in those stripy tights. As for all the "spooky " introductions..... stop already

Posted by: ThePensmith Oct 27 2019, 08:08 PM

Well that wasn't Catherine and Johannes' best dance, but how anyone can say Mike and Katya did better in that dance off is obviously smoking something weird or getting whispered in the ear by the producers. Then again, given what Craig and Shirley did to Aston and Janette two years ago that's not surprising how they voted tonight.

Alex did so well last night, she made Kevin look like the celebrity rather than the pro. Her breakthrough dance for sure. Saffron and AJ were great as well (was he meant to be Harvey, bytheby?) Hope Will recovers OK for next week, I'm gutted we didn't get to see his and Janette's Jive.

What dance did Shirley and Craig watch for them to pick Mike over Catherine?

'What they did' laugh.gif by which you mean, follow the rules?

I guess it depends if you think the original scores were fair, but in both cases, Mike & Mollie were ahead on the leaderboard. And when they repeated in the dance off, both improved (Mollie particularly, as she had stumbled on the main show) and the other either did the same again (Aston) or fumbled more (Catherine)

Going by logic, there's no other thing to do than to send home Aston and Cath. Were they the better dancer overall? Yes, unquestionably (and PARTS of Catherine's dance were better than Mike for sure) Did they do the better dance on the night? No. Unquestionably so in Mollie's case.

It's Bruno, Motsi, Darcey that in their votes are actively DOING something to rock the apple cart by seemingly voting on an overall basis rather than what they just saw in the dance off

Dances this week:

Alex & Neil - American Smooth (Ain't No Mountain High Enough)
Chris & Karen - Commercial/Street (Let's Get Ready To Rumble)
Emma & Anton - Rumba (Woman In Love)
Emma & Aljaz - Samba (I Don't Care)
Karim & Amy - Quickstep (Mr Pinstripe Suit)
Kelvin & Oti - Viennese Waltz (Say Something)
Michelle & Giovanni - Paso Doble (Another One Bites The Dust)
Mike & Katya - Charleston (Those Magnificent Men In Their Flying Machines)
Saffron & AJ - Salsa (Instruction)
Will & Janette - Waltz (Weekend In New England)

Crap song but Michelle seems like she should be perfect for a paso wub.gif

Posted by: ThePensmith Oct 29 2019, 06:20 PM

Does anyone know for sure if Will's confirmed to be dancing this week yet? I only ask because he wasn't at the Pride of Britain Awards with Janette last night - she Tweeted him a little message to the effect of 'Rest up champ'.

I imagine Chris' dance this week is either going to be a total train wreck or talked about a la 'Gangnam Style'. No inbetween.

Posted by: Liаm Oct 30 2019, 06:04 PM

Will has quit due to his injury, that was just confirmed on the Strictly Twitter.

I wonder if we'll have a non-elimination this week. No doubt the rabid Catherine fans (I was annoyed too, but god some of them on Twitter!!) will be like "he should have dropped out last week and she'd still be there!11!" if that does happen laugh.gif

That's a shame... i'm guessing it will just be a 3 person final - that's what happened when Will Young quit.

Sad to hear, but expected. For me his Couples Choice dance on Week 5 has been the best one all series. Hope he recovers OK and gets better soon.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Oct 31 2019, 01:53 AM

I’d much rather a four person final but it seems likely it’s gonna be a three person one unless they cancel an elimination show and have the scores over two weeks combined one week like they do a the start.

This is quite sad though. Will was the only male I felt could win other than Kelvin.

He was a massive contender for making the final in my opinion!

I’d say it’s now looking like Kelvin, Alex and then a toss up of Saffron, Michelle and Karim for the third spot in the final.

I Still stand by my theory now we’re losing people this is when Karims public vote will be tested. I don’t think he’s doing well on that.
I also think Emma Barton is beating Michelle and Saffron on public votes too.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 2 2019, 08:30 PM

What a odd show tonight more enjoyable as a whole than last week.

Unpredictable series this is turning into though.

Emma Barton was treated a bit harshly. 5’s when Mike got an 8 and Chris even got a 9!

I gave all my votes to Emma B tonight but realistically I do think she could escape the dance off.

It’s likely Emma Weymouth vs Saffron for the dance off I’d say.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 2 2019, 11:04 PM

Mike is still in it guys!

The judges saved him yet again in the dance off. Emma Weymouth is out.

^^ tonight’s spoiler result

(Just need someone to say If it was unanimous or a Shirley deciding vote

It's official. I am done with this show. Chiefly after catching sight of Chris Ramsey, lovely though he is, attempting something that resembled a bad facsimile of street dance to Ant and Dec in a shell suit. It's gone too far.

If I'm honest the show jumped the shark for me after Aston-gate c. 2017 (although no one here seems to agree with me on that then or now) but this and other questionable choices of recent weeks means it is so far removed from the show I used to enjoy.

This sort of thing certainly wouldn't have happened under Len Goodman's or even Darcey Bussell's watch. The producers have now turned it into the kind of show that X Factor started becoming six years ago, and look where that is now. It will come back and bite them on the arse sooner than they think.

Len definitely wouldn’t be a fan of many couples choices like routines he’d have hated Chris last night!

It’s the scoring what I thinks been off pretty much most of this season tbh and the way they critique certain contestants compared to others too.

Posted by: Liаm Nov 7 2019, 11:44 PM

It's a tough one with the Couples' Choices because I love the variety they bring and there are always some great ones, but with Chris' and to some extent Alex's, it felt like an easy cop out for a fun routine that would score them highly when they really needed it. Like with Alex's, she had a breakthrough with that Charleston and then it happened to be that she had Street next. With Chris, he of course is a big personality and suits that kind of dance down to the ground, so much that they kind of forgo the fact it was pretty basic technically and it's week 7 now. There's no way that what he did was worthy of 9s, which would put it on par with Dev's from Week 3!

I totally appreciate that it's an entertainment show, and for that reason I don't mind the dances being there but it's the fact as said above that it seems to be one rule for one, one for another. It's not just Couples' Choice either, it's happened most weeks for Mike laugh.gif The scores/comments for his Tango and Charleston were both ridiculous, not to mention when he got a 9 for his Quickstep! Just because his ability is lower doesn't mean that him being "not shit" is worthy of 8s and 9s. It just seems to be that if say Emma missteps it's a total disaster and her score dives but Mike is "fun" so it doesn't matter.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 8 2019, 03:21 PM

Agree with all of that Liam especially the one rule for one, one for another part of the post!

With Emma Barton it seems a bit obvious. I still don’t get how she got 5s and 6s but Chris managed a 9 for something what really wasn’t danced much better (I know they done very different dances). With Mike as well he deserved 6s for that Charleston, if anything the over scoring is doing him more harm they’d probably have more public support had the judges scored him more fairly. Chris has been better scored across the series as a whole which is likely why he’s avoided the dance off.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 9 2019, 09:47 PM

Karim could be in the dance off this week. Could we be looking Aston 2.0?

Realistically he’ll probably stay though. I can only see Chris or Mike joining him in the dance off.

So glad they liked Emma B this week.

Posted by: Liаm Nov 9 2019, 10:21 PM

I can definitely see Karim there - awaiting the spoiler now! Agreed that he's going nowhere though, it's gonna be Chris or Mike with him and there's no way they'd beat him.

Michelle was the best for me tonight, I can't believe she didn't get a single 10 when Saffron got 3! Saffron's dance was lovely but there was no way that was 3 points clear of Michelle.

Posted by: Liаm Nov 9 2019, 10:26 PM

MICHELLE was in the f***ing dance off............

Mike went though thank god but what the actual f***

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 10 2019, 12:02 AM

I never had Michelle down as a possible winner tbh but I’m shocked she landed in the dance off after that dance this week. She had my personal favourite dance tonight too that’s a surprise. She must’ve had the lowest public vote tonight to land in the dance off I’m guessing?

I’m feeling Karims mistake may have helped his public vote tbh I’m surprised he survived tonight without a dance off. Now Mikes gone were going to get unpredictable dance offs now!

Posted by: Liаm Nov 11 2019, 09:14 PM

Michelle isn't on the tour :') Seems very odd as she is one of the highest scorers week in week out!

Posted by: #Justice4Wonho Nov 11 2019, 10:01 PM

Wouldn’t she be too busy anyway? I mean with an upcoming rpdr US season + promo + rpdr uk stuff + I’m assuming another rpdr US all stars season that has to be the reason as to why she declined the tour?

Michelle was someone I definitely thought would’ve been asked for the tour. I’m shocked EE Emma is doing it as well tbh

Posted by: Liаm Nov 12 2019, 01:14 PM

This week's dances:

Alex & Neil: Paso Doble (Run The World)
Emma & Anton: American Smooth (Let's Face The Music And Dance)
Michelle & Giovanni: Street/Commercial (Vogue)
Saffron & AJ: Quickstep (Marvellous Party)
Chris & Karen: Salsa (Uptown Funk)
Karim & Amy: Charleston (Happy)
Kelvin & Oti: Jive (Jailhouse Rock)

This will really test Alex & Neil as she gets one of the tougher dances where there's less to hide behind, I feel like with her past 3 or 4 she's had perfect dances while she's on the up. Buzzing for Michelle and Gio giving the gays what they want *.* Karim and Kelvin could be battling for the first 40 of the series I think as both of them are playing to their strengths, particularly Karim. No Argentine Tango yet still though!

Michelle's going home tonight sad.gif

Do the judges want to go any further up Karim's arse? Jesus wept

Posted by: dandy* Nov 16 2019, 08:15 PM

I think so... i don't usually watch this but her dance definitely wasn't as difficult as most of the others. It was still entirely fabulous however and I loved her recreating the classic Madonna moment from 1990 and the whole sentiment and message seemed more important to her wub.gif

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 16 2019, 08:29 PM

Michelle’s VT could just about save her tbh there’s a lot of support on Twitter encouraging people to vote.

If she’s in the dance off though I can’t see her staying unless she’s against Chris maybes?

I’m feeling like a shock result tonight though.

Kelvin was dance of series / night for me as well! And wow at Anton genuinely never getting a 10 before until tonight laugh.gif

I'll be on tenterhooks waiting on the spoiler in the next half hour, hope by some remarkable stroke of fortune that Michelle can dodge the bottom, but it seems unlikely.

spoiler result below

Michelle is OUT.

Saffron was in the dance off.

Posted by: Liаm Nov 16 2019, 11:16 PM

It's a tough one because in terms of looking at it as a dance competition, the content Michelle's Couples' Choice was totally different to anything you'd get on the show, even compared to other Couples' Choice routines. But it just stood for so much, it meant so much to Michelle and for a lot of the people watching who love her for the strong ally that she is, and I think that's a Couples' Choice should be, quite similar to Will's really. That technically wasn't the absolute best, but I think the strength of Couples' Choice is when you can feel how much it means to them, it brings a side we may not always see of them in the more "classic" dances, and it's great to see that. It's just a shame that technically it wasn't enough for the judges to appreciate it regardless sad.gif

I know that they have to base it on this week alone but it's just wrong if we lose Michelle this early just because people didn't get the dance. I still think she was a bit undermarked tbh, if they were gonna give 10s to Emma and have given 9s to say Chris' Street the other week, Michelle should at least have got a 9 or two.

Michelle is OUT.

Saffron was in the dance off.

Gutted but I expected that, both the elimination and Saffron being in the bottom as well. It's just such a shame to lose who I think at her peak is capable of as much as Kelvin. It sucks that Karim or Emma can have multiple off weeks and sail through anyway but Michelle has one and that's it, that's her done.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 17 2019, 12:22 AM

I was 50/50 on Michelle tbh.
Twitter seemed to stan her / the performance from tweets I’d seen and she was even trending as was Vogue and Team Visagio so I sort of felt she could’ve escaped the dance off but I knew If she did land in it that I could only have seen Chris leaving over her based off this weeks dance.

It’s kind of hard to judge a dance to vogue where they were voguing though. My mam and dad both said “she’s not even dancing” and I could sort of see what they meant. I guess older viewers were probably of that opinion too. But for what the dance was she did sell it. I just wish she did it sooner when we had more couples left and not at Blackpool as tonight was a night some couples really peaked.

Some definite over marking this week though! I’m feeling it’s a Kelvin or Alex win now.

I know Karim got through after a dodgy dance last week but I can’t see him overall winning.

Chris still being there is a shock although my area is a bit mad for him. I live in South Shields and the promo is huge for him over here! He has a loyal fanbase.

Posted by: #Justice4Wonho Nov 17 2019, 12:50 AM

Lol I see the homophobia jumped out this week, ight imma head out

Posted by: Klumpkin Nov 17 2019, 08:14 PM

I agree with the result tbh! Michelle is overall one of the best there - certainly stronger than Chris, Alex and Emma. However this dance just didn't showcase what she can do. Maybe it's my ignorance to vogue but I felt like she could've given a lot more in her performance of it as well as the technical side to it. Compared to the other dances of the night it did feel lacklustre and I wasn't surprised she went. Just a shame as she is a great personality and a great dancer! Her foxtrot and quickstep weeks were incredible heart.gif

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 17 2019, 08:31 PM

I wish Michelle done this dance earlier in the competition. The Blackpool stage showed how limited it was to show your abilities even more. I think If she’d done it earlier though she’d have gotten through as I doubt she’d have been bottom when some of who’s eliminated were still there. It was always going to be a risky dance though. I think for what it was she did it well but I can totally see how people were like “but she didn’t dance”.

Blackpool usually attracts some better scores too than studio weeks though so had she done that in the studio she may have got something like 6-7-7-7 rather than 8x4.

Meh. I like Michelle much more than Saffron but I can’t argue with that result. It was only really Chris who I think the judges could’ve justified getting rid of over Michelle this week but even then his routine had a lot of content.

Posted by: Medellíam Nov 17 2019, 08:45 PM

Posted by: Liаm Nov 18 2019, 01:04 AM

Yeah it was definitely really bad timing for her to do it, in a way it was perfect for Blackpool and I know that she wouldn't have changed a thing as it meant so much to her and the community she loves so much, but of course Blackpool week is where everyone steps it up and the judges are being so much more generous, so it's really not the week to take a risk with something that just won't be understood or stand out as much.

It's just a shame it had to happen this way, because at her best she is so so capable and this is definitely too early to lose her.

I agree. It’s always a shame when we lose a genuinely good contestant on a low score by their standards dance too as well. Like Michelle’s topped the leaderboard, consistently scored well she drops to bottom once (whilst she’s still scoring 32! And she’s out unanimously.

It really was just a bad week to do it though. Even if she’d saved it for two weeks time is it when they each do two routines it could’ve been better as her other dance could’ve pushed her back up the leaderboard. Meh I guess we will never know. But it was just too marmite a routine for the shows biggest week (aside from the final). Having said that though I always sensed she’d have been a bit of a dance off queen had she got to the final and I never had her down as winning the whole thing.

It’s not really though. She was bottom of the leaderboard. If she’d been like second or third like she was the week before when she fell in the dance off I’d get that point but she was bottom. She needed a big public push to get through it and maybe it was never there for her tbh. We will never know but she was second the week before wasn’t she yet still ended up in the dance off?.. being bottom she likely didn’t stand a chance in retrospect.

The fact it wasn't appreciated is a slap in the face to the community. I get why it wasn't understood and I get that it's totally different from what's usually on the show, but like I said I think that's what Couples' Choice should be!

It's not a problem when say Chris does something outside of the usual, because he's "fun" and it's hetero-normative enough to fly, but it's ignorant and a slap in the face to the culture to say she didn't dance or it "wasn't even dancing she just flapped her arms about".

Agreed, I kept thinking back to Chris' Couples' Choice and I'm sure he received a couple of 9s, when I didn't think it was any good at all. Not because it was out of the usual but because he didn't do it as well as he could. With Michelle, it was full of drama and sharpness, plus you could see how much it meant to her and how she wanted to do the dance justice.

It's a bit of slap in the face, but what I'll take from it is that at least Michelle had the platform to do the dance and give insight, both factual and personal, about it too.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 21 2019, 12:18 AM

I think it was appreciated tbh. Like she did get 8s across the board which is by no means bad. It wasn’t her best dance by any means though and other dances on the night were better. I think because we didn’t see her for all the routine as some of it was just her dancing and some just Giovanni dancing and then when she was sitting down doing armograohy that probably confused people. What would others on here have scored her out of curiosity?

The public vote is another matter. She could’ve got more public support this week to last week tbh I wonder she placed in terms of the public what’s the highest she could’ve been public wise to still be in the dance off? Saffron must’ve lost to her in the public vote I’m guessing.

With Chris though I’m thinking he’s less experienced and probably gets over marked when he does basic things well or doesn’t make mistakes. With Michelle they might have been harsher on her because of how good shes been throughout. But I can just picture Len tearing that to shreds! He often disliked some of Giovannis routines when he was on the show.

Posted by: Medellíam Nov 21 2019, 12:49 AM

I wouldn't like to hazard a guess at what I'd score her as I've no technical knowledge of dance and I don't think 8s across the board was a result at all, but when someone like Chris is getting higher marks and has regularly been getting marks that are usually better than the comments he receives, it feels like something's a bit off. I'm not one to question the judges' professionalism and I don't think there's something going on with the producers or whatever, but sometimes things don't add up when you compare some scores and comments with others. I think, like you say, him having no prior dancing experience has given him a slight advantage in how the judges perceive him.

I seem to recall it was only Craig that gave any comment on what he thought was lacking from the performance. I'd have liked to have known what the others thought Michelle could have improved on.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 21 2019, 01:04 AM

I think 8 was about right but some of the others were way overmarked on Saturday and in other weeks too. She wasn’t the worst on the night but I’d have scored Kelvin, Karim and Saffron higher maybe Alex too. I don’t get how Emma got 10s through and Chris is still at best a 7! I actually think some of people who’ve gone are better than Chris. Catherine had so much more potential, Emma W also did and then there’s Dev and Will too.

Ability and in some ways experience comes into it. Emma’s has a rough ride but she’s experienced so
I think that plays into her marking at times. Chris is easily the weakest left now though and I can see his marks dropping a bit now because I really think the judges won’t want him in the final.

I honestly think both the BBC and the judges thought Mike was going to be the contestant Chris has turned out to be though. Just imagine if Chris had another pro too. Karen’s usually seen as the most unlikeable female pro and this is the furthest she’s gotten in the show without a dance off. Last year she’d been in like three hadn’t she with Charles (who was a lot better in ability!).

Saturdays show will lack something with Michelle not being there though. Michelle’s vogue dance is definitely gonna up there in years to come as one of the most marmite dances in the shows history.

STRICTLY Come Dancing's first ever same-sex dance sparked nearly 200 complaints to the BBC.

The Corporation reported that 189 people objected that it was "offensive to feature two men dancing as a pair" after Johannes Radebe and Graziano Di Prima performed together.

The barefoot pair took to the dance floor during Emeli Sande's performance in the results show on 3 November this year.

They did spins, lifts, and even gymnastics as they held hands and beamed at one another, alongside Luba Mushtuk and Aljaž Skorjanec.

The move got a warm reception on Twitter, with one fan writing: "Johannes dancing with Graziano is beautiful and more more more same sex partnerships please."

Another said that the landmark moment had moved them to tears.

It came after the show's ITV rival Dancing On Ice announced it would be making TV history by pairing two male dancers - pro skater Matt Evers and Steps star Ian 'H' Watkins.

The complaint over the same-sex dances was revealed as the BBC published its run-down of complaints, which was mainly concerned with accusations of political bias.

It received more complaints than an episode of Have I Got News For You that 140 viewers felt was biased against the Conservative party or Brexit

I just fail with words.

Imagine having that much time on your hands? rotf.gif

----

This week's dances:

Alex & Neil: Argentine Tango (Never Tear Us Apart)
Chris & Karen: Paso Doble (Run Boy Run)
Emma & Anton: Quickstep (Sparkling Diamonds)
Karim & Amy: Contemporary (Drops Of Jupiter)
Kelvin & Oti: Street/Commercial (Do I Love You (Indeed I DO))
Saffron & AJ: Samba (Walking On Sunshine)

I can see Saffron, Chris or Alex easily being in trouble as they've got dances that are just not for them! Odd choice for Alex to have the first AT laugh.gif I think Karim or Kelvin could get the first 40 this week, but then I thought that last week.

Posted by: Jαsє Nov 21 2019, 11:15 PM

I actually think the bottom 2 could be Saffron and Alex this week

I have a feeling Chris is massively popular with the public and he's gonna do really well drama.gif

Posted by: Medellíam Nov 21 2019, 11:17 PM

I don't know why they give these complaints the time of day tbh. It's 200 people out of, what, 10 million? Obviously they're repulsive but they're also irrelevant, we don't need to recognise them.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 21 2019, 11:51 PM

Is it from next week they’ll start doing two dances each or will we get the group challenge thing first where they’re rated and then added between one and how ever many are left points to their score?

Saffron could well be in danger but I’m only saying that because she’s the only person to have been in a dance off and the dance off bounce back thing hasn’t really been much of a thing this year. Bar Emma W who’s now gone hasn’t everyone who’s been in it one week and been saved been in it the week after too? David, Mike and Michelle all had two weeks in a row in it. (Well Mike had 4 didn’t he, and David had three dance offs but was spared one week then left the next laugh.gif).

I remember a time when the dance off contestant would usually get a boost the next week.

I think the public vote is probably looking like this at the moment

1. Kelvin
2. Chris / Alex
4. Emma
5. Karim
6. Saffron

Karim I could see In the dance off if we’re getting a shock but he won’t go. Chris’s journey would’ve been so perfect had he went out at Blackpool though he’s definitely gone if he’s ever in the dance off though. It would take the person he’s up against to completely fall flat on their face, or refuse to do it for him to stay but stranger things have happened laugh.gif

Yeah he's making the final, I think Saffron will keep being there, whether she'll go is another thing but surely we're due a shock Karim or Kelvin placement down there and they'd see her off.

Alex and Saffron seems a good bet, I can't see Alex being anything other than last with an AT although I don't think a Chris Paso sounds like it'll light up the scoreboard either!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 22 2019, 12:02 AM

I’d love it if we see multiple people get the same score this week just so we can really see the way the public’s voting at this stage

Posted by: Liаm Nov 23 2019, 10:39 PM

What a terrible show tonight! Chris was actually my favourite, techniclly not perfect but I enjoyed his dance the most. Kelvin was disappointing, I was really looking forward to his Commercial and thought it would be a highlight but I agreed with Craig, I didn't like the kitchen bits. Especially when they sat at the table for what felt like about half an hour!

Craig hit the nail on the head with Karim too, technically he's always there but I always feel quite cold. He's just... too clinical/perfect? I feel like you can feel and see him thinking about nailing anything to the point where he doesn't instill any other feeling. Whereas look at say Kelvin, his jive last week was technically flawless but it brought the fun too.

Saffron I thought was borderline awful, it reminded me of Mollie's Samba the other year!! Emma wasn't much better, Alex I have to applaud because she got probably the most difficult dance and she just isn't there with her ability, but she gave it a real good go. I think the 4 was a bit harsh! I think Alex's luck may have run out, but Saffron/Emma could be bottom 2 as well. If it's Saffron and Alex, the dance-off might be close if Alex tightens it up a bit and does slightly bettter.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 23 2019, 11:08 PM

Tonight was a bit of a slow show. I think Kelvin was my favourite but Chris did really well tonight and I have to applaud Alex too. If I was a betting man I’d say Saffron has gone but we will soon see. It’s a shame though Saffron was weaker tonight than what she’s been since like live show 3. Emma did OK but I felt like it stopped and started a lot. I’d have swapped Alex and Emma on the leaderboard for me personally.

Karim I could see Craig’s point as well but he is of a high standard. I just get more of a feeling from Kelvins dances and I think I personally like him more too he’s less try hard and always acts out dances better.

Are we getting two dances each next week or the group dance next week?

I had a feeling scores would drop this week too. Four couples scoring less than Michelle’s 32 last week which put her bottom and sent her home. Definitely shows over marking. I think tonight’s the best Chris has been but score wise he’s scored better twice hasn’t he.

Posted by: Jαsє Nov 23 2019, 11:17 PM

They're definitely giving Chris the journey edit. I'm becoming more and more convinced that he's gonna win

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 23 2019, 11:25 PM

The result spoiler is late tonight but I’ve seen some tweets saying “One of the bottom two couples is a huge shock”

Nothing confirmed yet though

Posted by: Liаm Nov 23 2019, 11:37 PM

That was correct - it was Karim v Saffron! Ofc the latter was eliminated

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 23 2019, 11:38 PM

Result below.....

Saffron has gone.

Karim was in the dance off but judges saved him.

Not too shocked if I’m honest. I always doubted Karims public support and predicted he would do an Ashley and win the dance off a few times to get to the final.

Oops sorry Liam we must’ve both posted at the same time I didn’t see you did it first laugh.gif

i watched this last night + i was bored.. i usually have a few i’m rooting for but i was just sitting around waiting for kelvin.
thought the dances were mediocre compared to other weeks (even kelvin’s really) it was definitely missing michelle for sure.

not really surprised by the bottom 2 karim crying again didn’t help him.

I never had Karim down as a winner. He just lacks something what appeals to Strictly voters he’s a bit too good, too polished etc. I can definitely see him being in the dance off now all the way through. I think at this stage too people tend to throw all their votes to just one person now and I think Karim is the person who has the least amount of people wanting to save him as their first choice. I think Emma, Alex and Chris have all had the journey factor and have improved too which went against him. With Kelvin though he’s a bit like Karim ability wise when they’re at their best but Kelvin comes across as a bit more down to earth and less of a show off and he’s the more known of the two as well.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Nov 24 2019, 08:42 PM

So the final 5 randomly are the first five couples in this years opening titles.

Posted by: Jαsє Nov 24 2019, 09:18 PM

Prediction -

Winner: Chris
2nd: Kelvin
3rd: Karim
4th: Alex
5th: Emma

Posted by: Jordan Lee Dec 1 2019, 11:33 AM

Strong show last night! But yeah Emma, Kelvin and Karim were in another league.

Emma was the best she’s ever been last night she deserve that score. I had a hunch Karim would’ve gotten 40 first too especially with him being in the dance off last week.

As for the result

Alex has gone.

Chris was in the dance off.

Posted by: Liаm Dec 1 2019, 01:55 PM

I'm sorry but HOW was Karin's jive the "best ever"?! Idk what these judges are on this series. Ofc it was undeniably good but Jay and even Jill remain distinctly unbothered.

Posted by: Jαsє Dec 1 2019, 10:18 PM

Yeah they need to seriously f*** right off saying it was the best jive ever. It was really good but it didn't even come close to matching the quality of Jay and Aliona's jive laugh.gif

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Dec 1 2019, 10:36 PM

Happy that emma has stayed in this far, hopefully she can survive next week.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Dec 2 2019, 12:14 AM

Chris deserved to stay in that Dance off!

Seen a few comments saying Alex was better but for me Chris had a much better week this week. Overall you could argue Alex was better but I can see why he stayed. I totally didn’t realise it was a 2-2 vote though the spoiler I seen didn’t mention that laugh.gif

I may have said this before when we had a 2-2 decision earlier in the series but I really wish we had no head judge nonsense and they just eliminated whoever had the lowest public vote in that instance. Or at least switch who the head judge is each week in that instance

Posted by: Liаm Dec 2 2019, 12:48 AM

I can lowkey see Emma winning which I really don't want to happen drama.gif

It wasn't even the best jive this series, how on earth he got 40 for that when Kelvin didn't for his the other week is beyond me.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Dec 2 2019, 12:53 AM

He only got 40 because he was in the dance off last week and the judges wanted him top of the leaderboard without a tie to try and make sure he’d go through to next week safely. Had there been another tie at the top he could’ve easily been in the dance off again. I still think he could’ve come last by the public this week laugh.gif we only really know Chris and Alex both can’t have been higher than second or definitely not top for them to both be in it in the same week.

I definitely think Kelvin and Emma were the public’s top two this week.

Emma was really good this week too like I can totally see why she got that score I loved her dance. She actually looked like the pro in it laugh.gif

Posted by: Medellíam Dec 2 2019, 04:33 PM

I think you guys are doing too much on Karim. Him and Kelvin have been the only two out of who are left who have regularly had me entertained, although I have been impressed by Emma recently. I don't really noticed any bias with Karim, not when it's so obvious with Chris.

Posted by: Adam Dec 3 2019, 03:21 PM

For me, Kelvin was better than Karim. Karims one where he was a tailor was way more deserving of 40 than this, and Kevlins characterisation as Gaston was absolutely superb.

Posted by: Jαsє Dec 3 2019, 03:43 PM

Karim's talented but he's waaaay too frantic for me

Posted by: Liаm Dec 6 2019, 02:41 PM

Yeah same, he just does.... too much? Like there's always extra little flairs and flourishes but most dances don't need it and it puts me off laugh.gif

Posted by: Liаm Dec 7 2019, 08:09 PM

Kelvin's chest to win x

Also that Rumba from Kevin was down there with Mollie's samba in terms of semi disasters rotf.gif I mean EIGHTS come on this is absolutely ridiculous!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Dec 7 2019, 08:36 PM

Kelvin was the best tonight but there was some over marks tonight on some of the dances and Chris was way undermarked by Craig on his final dance.

It’s a bit obvious that’s who they want to go laugh.gif

On another note Karims outfit in his first dance was awful. He was really stitched up there by wardrobe it was distracting and when he’s supposed to be portraying a character who’s very macho etc it just had the opposite effect. Those pants were horrific!

Thinking like Kelvins definitely through. And the dance off is probably gonna be Karim and Chris.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Dec 7 2019, 10:59 PM

Chris is OUT.

Karim was saved in the dance off.

this weeks confirmed result above ^^^

Posted by: Liаm Dec 8 2019, 12:28 AM

I thought that was about right for Chris, yes he tried and he really improved but come on EIGHT for that rumba?? rotf.gif

I can't shake the feeling Emma will win, it should definitely be Kelvin though. I just don't think Emma's good enough, her Latin is still hugely lacking for one.

Posted by: Jordan Lee Dec 8 2019, 02:16 AM

It’s definitely a two horse race in the final in my opinion.

I’d be I’d be really shocked if Karim wins now after being in the dance off yet again. I know Ore won and was in the dance off twice but Emma and Kelvin are both a lot more known by the strictly demographic and have better appeal to voters than what he does tbh. This years been a bit more about likeability too than what some years have been as well.

With Emma she has the Anton factor added in as well but Kelvins been more consistent throughout. I think Kelvin will probably manage it though.

So happy for emma to make it to the final. I'd say kelvin will win and Emma has a chance of 2nd.

Posted by: ThePoguesmith Dec 9 2019, 05:52 PM

After this weekend (was watching purely by accident as I was writing Christmas cards watching The Hit List that was on before it and I couldn't be bothered to change channels) I'd love if there was an upset and Emma won it. I thought her and Anton's Waltz was beautiful, and I loved the piece of music they danced to. Be lovely to see Anton win it as well after years of being lumbered with the dead weight contestants.

Though I think Karim's been the best overall dancer this series, there's no way he's winning now. The producers have done that typical thing narrative wise of positioning him as the overconfident, teeth gleaming spawn of Satan reviled by Craig on account of the fact he was at a stage school or did a bit of dancing in a previous career, and that Kelvin is the salt of the earth good guy who can't put a foot wrong.

They do this every year with certain contestants - Rachel Stevens, Denise van Outen, Aston Merrygold, the list is endless, and it's one of the reasons I've given up on this show.

Living in Germany I know Motsi Mabuse as a tv personality for many years. Do you like her on SCD?

Over here in magazines and on Motsi's home tv station it is said that she is so popular in the UK and everybody loves her so very much. Is it true or just wishful thinking by the press?

Anyone but Anton to win it.

My Twitter seems full of praise!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Dec 14 2019, 09:13 PM

Very happy with that result!!

Also should add as well that Motsi has been such a good addition to the show. I love her. Such a good personality yet also gives good critique too and always in such a nice constructive way. She always made the less able dancers feel good too. Long may she stay.

I really like a three person final tbh. Gives everyone more time to shine.

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Dec 14 2019, 09:31 PM

I'd have loved emma and anton to win but kelvin is a worthy winner.

Posted by: Liаm Dec 14 2019, 10:34 PM

Right result, phew! I'm so so pleased for Oti more than anything, all the pros (bar Anton x) work hard but I feel like she was really due that win, she has a way with choreo that always makes the best of her partners shine whether they're a natural like Kelvin or someone less able.

Agreed on Motsi too, she's so fun!

Posted by: Jordan Lee Dec 14 2019, 10:46 PM

Oti is probably my favourite female pro tbh. I love her as a person and totally agree too that she gets the best out of people.

Poor Anton he will never get the win will he. Bless him he’s likeable enough in small doses but Emma was a better dancer than him in a lot of their dances she actually looked like the pro.

Also what is Jamie Laing doing right now. If I was him I’d be thinking it should’ve been me!!!!!

Posted by: Liаm Dec 14 2019, 10:58 PM

Anton is awful, I think it says it all about him that in 16 series he's had a 10 until Emma! Katie Derham for one was certainly capable of it but I feel like his choreography often lets his partners down and he never has those wow routines you get from a lot of other pros.

Posted by: CaptainMackxmas Dec 14 2019, 11:05 PM

He kept hugging and kissing Emma in the final after every dance. Pleased with Kelvin and Oti winning.

Keep Motsi as a judge, she has been a breath of fresh air. Was good to see Will Bayley back dancing after that horror injury to him.

Posted by: JosephCarey Dec 15 2019, 12:42 AM

I mean, they do mostly pair Anton with celebrities that are non-starters anyway...!! Not even Craig Revel Horwood himself could make Ann Widdecombe a good dancer. Not all of his partners have been as bad as her of course but Emma feels like a rare occasion where he actually gets someone capable of more!

Kelvin was absolutely the right winner even if it could have been called in week 1. Consistently brilliant, and I'm so happy for Oti too! She's so damn good.

I get what you mean. I think Antons routines are quite behind the times sort of like he can’t make things modern laugh.gif Like some of the other pros are very imaginative but because he’s the oldest pro maybe that’s why he’s a bit behind the others. People of a certain age Stan him though. I know my mam seems to be big fans of both him and Kevin where as for me they’re by far the two most irritating pros lol.

I genuinely love Emma Barton though which is why I’m glad he did well this time more for her tbh. Pre the first live show I was absolutely convinced he was getting

Posted by: MerryFlynnmas Dec 18 2019, 02:31 PM

You think they would as bbc need to be transparent

Posted by: Liаm Dec 19 2019, 01:25 PM

ITV only release theirs (most of the time, apart from this series of I'm A Celeb ffs) because they got in shit for fixing Soapstar Superstar in 2007 (they named two completely different people as being in the bottom to the ones who were, I think they ignored a certain percentage of the votes for whatveer reason), they aren't legally obliged to do it for transparency I think it was said, which makes the I'm A Celeb saga this year a bit iffy.

I wish Strictly would release stats though, I'd love to see how things varied between the judges scoring and the public vote.

Posted by: pippa Dec 19 2019, 04:51 PM

I would welcome seeing the stats to as i enjoy stats on reality shows.
I enjoy them as i like to see the progress contestants made in the voting from start to finish.
