BuzzJack Music Forum _ Dance _ Gareth Emery thread

Posted by: danG 8th May 2017, 07:45 AM

Gareth Emery is one of the top trance producers of the moment, and had a great start to the year with 'Saving Light' which has over 2 million streams on Spotify and YouTube. Now he's back with 'Stronger', a collab with Louis Vivet (who are actually a duo), which sees him branch out into the future bass genre. Sounding great! dance.gif

Re-listen to 'Saving Light'.

Gareth Emery's potential has reached the peak when he was releasing new material under the alias 'OceanLab' with Above & Beyond IMO. He also laid out to the max in 2012 featuring the girl with astonishing voice - Christina Novelli:

Excited to hear his brand new TRANCE stuff.

Posted by: danG 8th May 2017, 12:12 PM

Gareth Emery isn't part of OceanLab. OceanLab are Above & Beyond and Justine Suissa.

Confusingly though the On A Good Day/Metropolis mashup is credited to "Above & Beyond & Gareth Emery pres. OceanLab" but I think that's the only OceanLab/Emery collab.

Posted by: djgrafdemon 8th May 2017, 07:47 PM

oh damn, I should've known...
anyway, thank you for explaining, I've read about it a couple of years ago and forgot everything.
Still, Metropolis seems to be the fundamental track in Emery's career.
Oh, 'Saving Light' with Standerwick sounds pretty much trancey, don't know why I passed it by in February.

Posted by: Dobbo 8th May 2017, 08:45 PM

Not liking that new track much sadly, stick with trance Gar!

Posted by: danG 6th July 2018, 12:05 PM

He's back with a new single finally, it's been ages. 'Call To Arms' is his first original song released since 'Saving Light'.

The 'Stronger' rework posted in the OP tired on me very fast, glad he's back to trance now.

Posted by: BridgeCow 6th July 2018, 01:30 PM

not sure on this new one, the drop is GREAT but those vocals are really off-putting...

Posted by: dancember 14th December 2018, 11:38 AM

Back again with 'Take Everything' with Emma Hewitt. It's beautiful. wub.gif

They also performed Avicii's 'Without You' together!

'Kingdom United' (Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge) [Out 25/01]

Nice!

Posted by: danG 4th February 2019, 03:36 PM

Looks like we're getting a whole collaborative album from Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge, coming out 29/03. Anyway here's the music video for 'Kingdom United' (title track of the album).

Also, HALIENE of 'Saving Light' has done a new acoustic version of the song, worth checking out.

Music video for 'Lionheart' out now

Also a new track titled 'Electric Pirates'

Posted by: Wall 8th March 2019, 02:46 PM

I'm seeing Gareth tonight *.*

Posted by: danG 8th March 2019, 03:34 PM

!

I'm sure he'll be very good, I hope to catch his set at Creamfields this year. One of my fave producers of the moment.

I don't think it's what you're going to but his Laserface show in particular looks amazing. Here's the new single as performed as part of Laserface.

Oh and it looks like the album's been delayed to May 10. sad.gif

Posted by: Wall 8th March 2019, 03:52 PM

I ended up winning free tickets through a competition today! I was at Kettama last night but I'm super excited to see / meet & greet especially and it said I would win a signed copy of the album so I'm not quite sure if I will get that or not considering it's been pushed back!

Putting the 3 year old 'CVNT5' on the album which was also on Gareth's last album though. laugh.gif At least we get a good number of new songs anyhow.

Posted by: dancember 6th December 2019, 11:15 PM

Following from his collab album with Ashley Wallbridge this year, Gareth Emery is planning to release his fifth studio album (4th solo album) next year. 'Somebody' is out today. It's more of a pop friendly effort but it's amazing anyhow.

Posted by: danuary 11th January 2020, 10:06 AM

2nd single 'Yesterday' came out... yesterday. A bit more trance than 'Somebody' and I'm really liking this too.

new track released today

enjoying it, but it's not quite as good as the previous two.

Posted by: dan-G 19th June 2020, 09:21 AM

'Gunshots' out today

more slow than we're used to from Gareth but fitting considering the lyrics.

Sad Song is out today;

Posted by: danuary 22nd January 2021, 08:20 AM

interestingly the first song of his where he’s the sole vocalist.
will have to give it a few more listens to get used to it, I think.

Posted by: TheSnake 22nd January 2021, 06:07 PM

This Sad Song sounds very good, the vocal effects I like, they remind me a bit of Don't Give Up or Days Go By from the early 00s and the drop and guitar riff is very good too.

Posted by: awardinary 22nd January 2021, 06:41 PM

The official video was uploaded a few hours later;

Posted by: dan::G 15th April 2021, 11:06 PM

LSR/CITY is out on streaming platforms today, it is 5 short pieces Gareth is selling as NFTs all compiled in this video.

Posted by: dan::G 4th June 2021, 09:45 AM

new single out today, a big step up from 'Sad Song', and not only because he's not singing on this one, it's a right trance anthem.

Posted by: dan::G 11th July 2021, 09:48 AM

absolutely beautiful!

Here it is;

Posted by: gooddelta 23rd March 2022, 08:13 AM

Love this but it’s quite a bit more poppy than I’d have expected so intrigued to hear the album.

It’s way too short though. Why have 2-2.30 min songs become so prevalent now sad.gif

Unity with Omnia is out now;

Posted by: Daan 3rd April 2022, 01:08 PM

additional context - the song isn’t part of his album campaign it’s in aid of Unesco for helping Ukrianians in need. Omnia is the most prominent Ukrainian trance DJ hence him being the choice of collaborator.

Oh I didn’t spot that obvious link, given the colours of the single cover.

"California" with Gid Sedgwick:

Posted by: Daan 14th October 2022, 05:51 PM

quite enjoying the two new singles but neither really wow me, I'm hoping he's got something really special saved for the album release.

Posted by: Cow Cow 17th November 2022, 11:36 PM

"Where Do We Go From Here" is out today.

Posted by: Dancember 1st December 2022, 05:05 PM

Analog is out tomorrow! Though of course it came out for me a month ago and I've already listened to it a number of times as I pre-ordered it off Bandcamp.

Where Do We Go From Here is really great anyhow, I'm tempted to say the best on the album although I'll have to see how it ages compared to This Is Not The End.

Posted by: lewistgreen 19th January 2023, 07:30 PM

Gareth did the Quest Mix for Annie Nightingale this week on Radio 1. It's the whole second hour of her show and is worth a listen as he explores some harder tracks of his and others
