Welcome one and all to a new quiz season, and the first of 2021! cheer.gif

For our opening week, we had a classic game of Pointless, and it is now time for the results!

I apologise at the outset that these results have been rushed a little, and there may be leeway given if mistakes have been made on my part, and I ask that someone bring those to my attention throughout the results. I will try my best to give you the results as I’ve calculated them. But I have learnt that Pointless quizzes in the chart forum have so many gaps and loopholes that if I’m not careful with the wording of certain questions I am inviting myself to be challenged when questionable answers are given to me! I hope I can score this fairly for everyone! smile.gif

The Questions;

    1. Name a #1 single from the 00’s (2000-2009) from a movie soundtrack

    2. Name an artist to have had a #1 album in this century without a Top 40 single in this century

    3. Name a Top 10 single with a country in it’s title

    4. Name a #1 single from a former TV soap star

    5. Name a Top 20 self-titled album by a British artist

    6. Name a boyband to have made 10 or more appearances in the main compilation series Now That’s What I Call Music! (Now 1-107)

    7. Name a Top 10 single that mentions the words “Honey” or “Chocolate” in the lyrics

    8. Name a dance song that has charted in the Top 40 so far in 2021

    9. Name a Top 10 single with an animated music video

    10. Name an artist who has recorded music with Elton John

    11. Name a Top 10 album with an item of food in it’s title

    12. Name a #1 single by a UK chart debutant

If Jailhouse Rock was 1957 surely that is an incorrect answer for Nina West as needed to be 2000-2009?

EDIT: Ignore as the re-release of the song got to #1 in 2005 which fits the question!

QUESTION THREE

Name a Top 10 single with a country in it’s title

This question seemed to cause a bit of debate as to what qualified as a country name, but thankfully the answers received are all looking good! Voodoo Chile seemed to be the most popular answer guessed here. Many others were guessed, including one guess not in English (which I regrettably didn’t stipulate as a rule so is allowed to stand).

CORRECT ANSWERS

The Jimi Hendrix Experience – Voodoo Chile
chrissmith276, Dobbo., Mangř, Nina West (3 Points)

Alphaville – Big In Japan
Addy!, Bré, paulgilb (2 Points)

Sash! – Ecuador

Bjork, J❄️hq, miichaelking21 (2 Points)
