Chart Commentary
Whilst we have a non-moving top 2 this week, with Harry Styles spending a second week at the top and Cheat Codes as distant runners up, there's a lot more movement in the rest of the top 10. This week's highest climber comes from Jason Derulo, who is up 29 places to #3 with Swalla. Interestingly, this is only his second top 10 hit, and first as a lead artist following his feature on Little Mix's Secret Love Song, which made it to #1. It features Ty Dolla $ign, who keeps up his 100% top 3 record (!!), and Nicki Minaj who gets her 12th top 10 hit. It's her fourth top 10 hit, in a slightly weird looking discography as her first two chart hits were album tracks that were 4 or 5 years old at the time of entry in the very early days of my chart! It's the third single she's put out in the past year, and it follows her highest charting track Good Summer (#7) and My Little Alien (#18). (1+ weeks) British singer/songwriter JP Cooper scored a top 5 hit at the end of 2016/start of 2017 with September Song, and instantly follows it up with a second top 10 hit. Passport Home enters at #9 this week, outpeaking Jonas Blue collaboration Perfect Strangers which never hugely took off in my chart. September Song struggled to become his first top 10 hit to start with but a second lease of life saw it become a longer-running hit, tallying up 13 non-consecutive weeks in my chart, impressive for a #4 hit! JP Cooper 2016 37 Perfect Strangers (Jonas Blue feat. JP Cooper) | FEAT | 37-X (1 week) 2016 04 September Song | 1 | 31-13-25-X-28-9-4-7-10-16-20-24-28-38-X (13 non-consecutive weeks) 2017 09 Passport Home | 2 | 9-... (1+ weeks) The final new entry into this week's top 10 is Swedish girl group Dolly Style, who make their chart debut at #5 with Bye Bye Bby Boo, thanks to this month's BJSC. The highest new entry this week being at #5 means that there's still only been one week in 2017 where the highest new entry has been outside the top 10, when Pitbull & Jennifer Lopez scored the title with #12 hit Sexy Body. Also making chart debuts this week are Maggie Lindemann, Dean Lewis and Kiiara, while Julia Michaels, Anton Powers and Martin Jensen all reach a new personal best as their songs continue to climb. Hi Joseph
Harry Styles still strong at number 1 here. I like Bye Bye Bby Boo. I've never heard of Dolly Style though. Anton Powers & Pixie Lott are not top 10 here. I love the song and the music video. It's a pity Passport Home is flopping. JP Cooper deserves another big hit please. Good chart. You're snubbing Sigrid though. |

Hi Jason, thanks for commenting Dolly Style are from Melodifestivalen! 2015 and 2016 I think. I'd not heard any of their songs before this though, I really like Bye Bye Bby Boo! Passport Home has plenty of time to be a hit I think! I'm not so keen on Sigrid's song Hey Joseph! Really growing to love your #1, should definitely go into my top #5 next week! Swalla going into your top three as well *.* Still addicted to it. Great chart Hey Andrew! Thanks for commenting Hey Joseph! Faves this week: 10. Hey Dan! Thanks for the comments Swalla really is undeniable, Jason is hit and miss for me but Swalla is a surefire hit! Symphony is pretty much on par with an average #1 chart run at this point, it's rare that I'm into a song for all that long right now I thought Harry would have the #1 wrapped up for ages but with Shawn's new single out and new Charlie Puth tomorrow, things are looking more uncertain Hi Joseph! Great top 10 to be honest apart from Kate Nash which still not heard oops! Dean Lewis is excellent Whippin is a bop Great Chart Hey Harry, thanks for commenting Hear Kate Nash ASAP |
