So we know that Donald Glover's upcoming album will be his last as Childish Gambino! I doubt he's quitting music enitrely (hopefully anyway, the man is a genius) but still. He's released This Is America which is the first taste of it and it's brilliant and clever as ever - especially the video (shirtless Gambino is NEVER bad either wub.gif)!

'This Is America' is AMAZING and it sounds perfect in the summer, probably one of my favourite releases of the year so far (and I'm so glad he's gone back to a more 'because the internet' inspired sound wub.gif

Still so shook by this. What an incredibly powerful way of getting your message heard. He is one of a kind.

He is honestly a one of a kind once in a lifetime kind of genius, I feel like in pretty much of all his songs as well as videos, there's so much meaning in every ounce of what he does wub.gif

Really great video, lots of harrowing imagery yet played quite straight and tackling a lot of social issues in a pleasingly subtle way, I loved the juxtapositions in mood that fits with the lyrics and the scenery. Don't know if the song works independently from that yet, but as a whole, it's very convincing.

I think I definitely like the video more than the song - it feels a little too disjointed (which I guess is intentional as the video is depicting the cycle of mass shootings happening and being quickly forgotten) and maybe a little bit underwritten? Like half the song just sounds like a really lazy Migos impersonation. I expect I'll like it more with more listens as I get a bit more used to the ~unorthodox structure~. Definitely an interesting and powerful comeback from him anyway and I do love the video.

This video is absolutely incredible! Wow! So powerful!! I'm not as crazy on the song but the video really does help sell it.

Well as a song I don't particularly like this at all. Hopefully a late bloomer.

This Is America has debuted at #1 on the Hot 100 and is Childish Gambino's first number 1 <3 I'm loving this atm and the video is incredible *.*

oh wow, I expected a high debut but an instant #1 up against Drake is very impressive. the cultural impact the song/video has made already is insane.

brilliant video and the song is a bit of a grower, the beat switch particularly is amaze.

I think the song is surprisingly standing on it's own, amazingly for me.

The video is obviously exceptional, but I think the song is great as it's own entity!

This is America has been accused of ripping off American Pharaoh by Jase Harley.

I must say, parts of the songs do sound very similar.
