Jeff Nichols, Joel Edgerton and Michael Shannon working together again following on from "Midnight Special" earlier this year.

Based on the 'Loving v. Virginia' case in the US, this will be one looking for some Academy love following on from the #OscarsSoWhite debate. Looks rather powerful.

Finally watched this after missing it when it was out at the cinema! I was expecting it to be a bit of a bore to sit through based on the reviews but I was really moved by the story. The events in the film were quite slow paced but it had enough standout moments to make it worthwhile. My favourite scenes were the police breaking into their home, Mildred and Richard giggling on the sofa and the final sequence of them finally being able to build their home in Virginia.

The acting was excellent from the two leads as well. They are quite quiet roles - that is, not particularly showy - but they felt incredibly real which made the film even more emotional for me. Ruth Negga was definitely my highlight so I can see why she was single out for the Oscar nomination (even though I'm not sure she'd make my list over other snubs like Taraji P. Henson and Jessica Chastain). I'm quite surprised Joel Edgerton didn't make it too though, the film works so well because of the TWO of them and his performance was much more impressive than Viggo Mortensen in my opinion.
