Commentary


Lots of movement in my chart this week, with the exception of the top 2, which remain the same. The Automatic have held off the lovely Nelly Furtado for a second week with ‘Monster’, ahead of the the release of their new album on Monday. The Feeling bounce back a place at 3, with the sublime ‘Fill My Little World’, which is fast becoming a classic. Christina Aguilera climbs a place at 4, with the music hall inspired ‘Ain’t No Other Man’ and Oakenfold and Brittant Murphy reach a new peak in my chart of 5, thanks to its use in a few TV programmes this week.

Outside the top 5, there is a new entry for the Rogue Traders with ‘Voodoo Child’, a song that has invaded my head for the past week and looks certain to be a smash once released. The Zutons are up next with the wonderful ‘Valerie’, the second single to be lifted from their new album. Madonna enters at 11 with ‘Get Together’, the third single from COAD, and a wise choice for single in my opinion. The psychedelic video was premiered this week, I admit I’m disappointed as I wanted it to follow on from ‘Sorry’. Oh well, I guess Madge is busy.

The Kooks enter at 14, with the superb ‘She Moves Her Own Way’, and Lily Allen (the daughter of Keef Allen!) enters at 15 with the potential smash ‘Smile. Finally of note are two climbs in the lower top 20 for Kelly Clarkson and Gnarls Barkley.
