Analysis

A new No.1 in both charts for the first time in months…The album chart sees a record 17 slippers as the 2 new entries are very high…only one album doesn’t budge and that is Rogue Traders at No.8…Two American Idol winners fall to the foot of the top 10 behind the Australian dance act while Jewel and Nerina dip out of the top 5 as well this week…Infernal fall to No.5 with Eurovision 2006 down to 4th place…New UK talent Lily Allen goes in at No.3 with her debut album Alright Still while Sandi Thom leaves the top spot after just a week and gives it to Portuguese-Canadian singing sensation Nelly Furtado whose Loose debuts at No.1!!!

The singles chart has an impressive five new entries with Germany’s Mousse T debuting at No.19 with a mash-up of his track Horny and The Dandy Worhals’ Bohemian Like you…Two album tracks enter for Sandi while Nelly slides in at No.16 with the huge US hit Promiscuous. Outside the top 10 there are slips from Nerina, Infernal and Carola while Jewel climbs to a new peak of No.12 with Stephenville, TX…Nerina and Nylon fall two places each to start the top 10 while Rihanna scores her first top 20 hit with Unfaithful!!! Nerina slides from the top 5 with Everybody’s gone to war while Rogue Traders stay in 6th place with Voodoo Child!!! Sandi dips to No.5 with Punk Rocker while Daz is down to 4 on his 8th week in the top 5!!! Nelly slides to no.3 after a week in control and Columbian star Shakira climbs to a new peak of No.2 on her 16th week in the top 20 with Hips Don’t Lie!!! Lily Allen goes straight in at No.1 with the summer anthem Smile becoming the first artist to do so since Hung Up by Madonna at the end of 2005!!!
