A little late, blame work and the chart + Doctor Who yesterday xx

Eliminated

8. Paradise (7/23 votes, 30.43%)
And that is the tolling of the death knell for 'New' Coldplay as Paradise finally leaves us, signalling the end of both Mylo Xyloto's representation here and anything they've released post-2010, I suppose it was always heading this way, but I was surprised how one-sided it was. Still, Paradise puts up a respectable showing and I think what will very likely be their most remembered song of the 2010s. Originally released as an instant grat from iTunes (gosh remember those days), Paradise was not initially chart-eligible which at the time looks like it would cost it a bit, however once the album was released, the song's popularity wouldn't let it up and in early 2012 in it's tenth chart week, it became their second UK number 1, and has been used extensively for various other media such as the movie, Life of Pi, the 2012 Paralympics and the Stanley Cup play-offs amongst others. A huge dose of instant euphoria when you hear it and accompanied by a cute elephant themed video, it's not hard to see why this became so big, and I've have actually put this a bit higher, never mind that I have great memories of seeing them live and uni from this song, but it still sounds wonderfully joyous and effortlessly anthemic and while it may not be their most original, it really shows how well they've mastered the art of a stadium anthem and this is one for the ages.

Paradise is one of their best singles of the 2010s so it's good that it finished fairly high up, but I still prefer almost all the other remaining songs in this poll. Still voting for Trouble, it needs to go now really.

Trouble is fantastic, their first classic.

It wounds me that so many of you want it out so soon.

It’s way better than In My Place and Fix You at the very least!

'Paradise' was a huge hit in my personal chart and one of my favourite songs of 2011, it hasn't quiiiiite held up as one of my absolute favourite Coldplay songs (there are a couple of other songs that I'd now rank ahead of it out of their 2010s output) but glad it's got to a respectable top 10 position.

'Trouble' finally set to go now so I have the increasingly difficult choice of what to vote for next after this round, fun!
