I'll expand the posts above next week to cover the whole Top 100 where 3 weeks or more, but for now I've just updated them because...
In one of those statistical anomalies the chart throws up (see also having just one 8-week #1 between 1970-2017), in the 65-year history of the Top 20 no song has ever spent 3 or more weeks at a peak position of #18, consecutively or in total. For every other position in the Top 20 this has been done many times over and for every other position down to #29 this has happened at least once in the past, but not #18, despite many near misses in recent years. Well since my last update two songs appeared to have done it: first Freya Ridings - Castles, but that went on to re-peak at #16; and now Jorja Smith featuring Burna Boy - Be Honest, which this week spends its 4th week and 3rd consecutive at #18 which is its peak to date. Now let's be honest, it will probably move to a higher peak in the coming weeks (and it deserves to), but for a brief snapshot in time at least it has its own little place in chart history. |

Updated the lists in the first 3 posts. For the one in the OP, since I last added to this thread, Kiss Me More (at #3) and You Should Be Sad (at #12) became the first songs to set new records for most weeks at peak in any Top 20 positions since 1996.
I’ve gone back through chart history to check for every song which spent two weeks at a peak of #18 and counted a colossal 53 of them! The most recent one, from Ava Max, perhaps came closest to having an unprecedented third week there, with 6 of its other weeks being at #19. I’ve also added the number of songs which spent two weeks at peak for each of the other Top 40 positions which have yet to have a 3-weeker (#30, #35, #36 and #39) and the same for the consecutive weeks list (also #38) in the second post. In the third post, following my recent Anagrams Quiz which covered every Top 30 position, I set out to discover if at least one song has double-peaked (i.e. spent exactly two non-consecutive weeks at peak) at every position in the Top 40. The answer is... yes, in fact at least two have, although we have to go all the way back to 1962 for the last song to do this at #33 (and that was within 3 years of the complete chart expanding from a Top 30). I may eventually check all the other Top 100 positions for this too, although that would take me considerably longer to do

Project 41-100 is now ready!
 I've gone through the entire history of the Top 100 again, and can now fill in the songs which hold the records for all peak positions from #41 down to #100, in each of: - Most weeks at each peak position in the UK Singles Chart - Most consecutive weeks at each peak position in the UK Singles Chart - Most non-consecutive runs at peak positions in the UK Singles Chart where these records are 2 or more in each case (i.e. at least 2 weeks or at least 2 runs). Rather than post them all in one go, I'll cover one position each day over the next couple of months, starting from #41 and heading downwards after that, because who doesn't love a countdown? I may have a break or two later on, but will reach #100 by the end of 2022! For 41-50, each day I'll post a list of all the songs which had 2 runs at that peak. All of these positions had at least one song which spent 3 consecutive weeks at peak (plus a few which had 3 in total but not consecutive), so those are already covered in the original posts. However most positions from 51-100 didn't have one of these, so for #51 onwards, as well as a list of the songs which had 2 runs at that peak, I'll also post a list of all the songs which had 2 consecutive weeks at that peak where that is the record. From these I'll pick out a song or two each day which either I like, or has some story behind it, or both. #41 coming tomorrow! |

First up is Danny Williams whose version of Moon River (not to be confused with Andy Williams) reached #1 later in 1961. Of the six songs which reached #41 on two occasions, those of Hunger spanned 8 weeks from initial release to album boost, however those of Miracle are from its two releases in 1997, coming either side of Olive's #1 with You're Not Alone and their only other Top 40 hit with Outlaw. |

The Florence + The Machine run stings even more considering they are still yet to have another top 40 hit since then :'( despite a couple of excellent singles from their most recent album both making the top 60.
I remember hearing that N.E.R.D song at the time a decent amount, surprising it wasn't a top 40 hit. |

3 consecutive weeks at a peak of #43 A$AP Rocky featuring Skrillex - Wild For The Night (2013) 26/01/2013: 49-43-43-43-48-60-78-91 2 non-consecutive runs at a peak of #43 Dick Emery - You Are Awful (But I Like You) (1973) Ernie K-Doe - Here Come The Girls (2007) Peter Brown - Do Ya Wanna Get Funky With Me (1978) Elley Duhé - Middle Of The Night (2022) 10/02/2022: 92-92-74-63-63-63-50-53-50-43-46-44-43-45-48-50-48-51 A$AP Rocky has the song with the record for the most weeks at a #43 peak, which I hadn't heard until just now but quite enjoyed on first listen. His only Top 40 hit as lead, Praise The Lord (Da Shine), is also one of the masses with a share of the current record of 2 weeks at an #18 peak. Four songs had two visits to a #43 peak, including one of my favourite chart hits of this year - Middle Of The Night seemed all set to grace the Top 40, but it never quite happened. At least it's now immortalised in this countdown, unlike Ruth B.'s Dandelions which climbed to #43 twice (and #44 twice) at a similar time, before finally peaking at #42. I had forgotten about that A$AP Rocky run - not my favourite song of his but shame it couldn't have snuck into the top 40 for at least a week.

3 consecutive weeks at a peak of #44 Hysterics - Jingle Bells (Laughing All The Way) (1981) 12/12/1981: 73-44-44-44-69 3 non-consecutive runs at a peak of #44 Procol Harum - A Salty Dog (1969) 24/06/1969: 44; 08/07/1969: 44; 22/07/1969: 44 2 non-consecutive runs at a peak of #44 Farmer’s Boys - In The Country (1984) Miki and Griff - Rockin’ Alone (1960) Exactly two months until Christmas, and the only song to have 3 weeks in a row at a #44 peak is an early festive treat. I can't guarantee it will have you in hysterics, although it sort of worked for me  Procol Harum may be best known for their #1 Whiter Shade Of Pale, but they also have the distinction of still the only song to have 3 visits to any peak position outside the Top 14, never mind the outside the Top 40. The song seems to have been held in fairly high regard anyway, although I'd need a few more listens to get into it. Even beyond that, the full house continues with every position from #1 to #44 having had at least two songs to have spent exactly 2 non-consecutive weeks at that peak. |
