The Official Charts Company has published all 311 songs to have passed 1 million in combined sales.

There are five boyband songs to have achieved this and Take That occupy two of those:
77. YMCA - VILLAGE PEOPLE - 1,555,948
175. BACK FOR GOOD - TAKE THAT - 1,207,286
186. NO MATTER WHAT - BOYZONE - 1,184,168
189. RULE THE WORLD - TAKE THAT - 1,178,878
212. WHAT MAKES YOU BEAUTIFUL - ONE DIRECTION - 1,145,136
So it shows that Back For Good did eventually climb back over the Boyzone hit where it had trailed at end of 90's. Village People being a boyband is subjective as are Jackson 5, Bay City Rollers, The Monkees and The Osmonds as perhaps only claimed as such looking back in hindsight.
However members have all appeared on boyband shows and documentaries so clearly don't have an issue being labelled as such.
Rule The World should eventually reach 1.2 million.
I believe i read somewhere that Back For Good had physical sales of 760,000. It would be interesting to see the breakdown of the sales after those figures for paid for sales and streaming. Likewise with Rule the World. Again, i believe Rule the World sold more physical copies than Back for Good but this information is based on what i can recall rather than facts so i could be wrong.
This is the breakdown of sales and streams given by OCC: Sales + Streams = Sales
YMCA - Village People - 1,513,677 + 42,271 = 1,555,948
Back For Good - Take That - 1,119,470 + 87,816 = 1,207,286
No Matter What - Boyzone - 1,157,952 + 26,216 = 1,184,168
Rule The World - Take That - 1,070,725 + 108,152 = 1,178,878
What Makes You Beautiful - One Direction - 1,010,042 + 135,094 = 1,145,136
So it was streaming which has pushed BFG ahead of No Matter What in sales.
I do like No Matter What by Boyzone but i dont feel it is in the same league as Back For Good so i welcome Back For Good having higher sales.
I would be further happy if Rule The World can eventually overtake Back For Good in combined sales.
Do we know what's the closest song to 1 million is? Patience?
Singles
Next closest to Multi-Platinum (1,200,000) Rule The World: 1,178,878
Next closest to a Million (1,000,000) Patience: 713,000
Next closest to Platinum (600,000) Never Forget: 524,000
Next closet to Gold (400,000) Everything Changes: 367,000
Next closest to Silver (200,000) A Million Love Songs: 195,500
It's crazy that with A Million Love Song high reputation and repeat performances on talent shows it's still yet to creep over 200,000 sales. However it's very close and it likely will after a little push in the future. I believe before the reunion it was on roughly 146,000 so has picked up around 50,000 sales in last decade.
I am always shocked Never Forget hasnt sold more.,
I am the same with Never Forget. I remain surprised that they haven't picked up more downloads and streams with the song, mainly from when they were at their peak in the Beautiful World, The Circus and Progress era's and tours.
I always feel that Never Forget and Million Love Songs work way better in the live environment. The music arrangement in the CD recording is just too cheesy.
Never Forget is certainly a song so much better live. The studio versions certainly lose the "anthem" sound which is what essentially makes the song so great.
There’s a couple of songs hovering around the 900k mark too, so hopefully they’ll make it one day!
That's great for Take That being the boyband with the most million selling singles, it's great that they're above One Direction too
