Versions mentioned in the poll as well as some by popular artists/high view count:
Still Tobtok for me as I'm not that big on the Jonas vocals. And the producing isn't that special either. Although I feel the Joylon version is catching onto me Of course the original is still a classic. Not heard Taio or Sam Smith's version (hope I never will for the latter to be quite honest ) Oops forgot to put in Other option. This post has been edited by Dan_: 21st January 2016, 04:45 PM |

Nothing touches the original but I do like the Jonas Blue version a lot and the Tobtok one is somewhat growing.
Mutya's version slays though. |

Mutya Buena's version is my favourite cover (though I haven't heard quite a few of those listed).
Nothing will ever touch Tracy's for me though. EDIT: Liam beat me to it! This post has been edited by Noahspike: 21st January 2016, 04:44 PM |

Tobtok ft. River for me but I'm loving the Jonas Blue ft. Dakota version as well, both are very interesting takes on the song.
The Tracy Chapman original is amazing too but naturally I prefer the dance cover. |

Has to be the original for me.
The original re-entered at #4 in the UK in 2011 because this was sang on a audition on Britain's Got Talent. Although both versions from Jonas Blue, Tobtok are growers for me. |

This version:
It was about a decade ago, I believe the release of it got cancelled despite it being on the Radio 1 playlist at the time. That Jonas Blue thing needs to be stopped. |

Tobtok, though Mutya's version is nice too.
(I don't like Tracy Chapman's voice ) |

Original of course by miles, one of my favourite songs of all time and the lyrics mean so much to me The original song has also impacted me really big in really hard and tough moments in my life so I have a really strong emotional connection with the track
The Tobtok version is ok and the Jonas Blue version is horrific and the 2016 version of last years Show Me Love (Will try and hope the Jonas Blue version grows on me as it is set to become massive). Though the dance mixes lose the emotional connection and the beauty of the track for me And I never ever ever ever want to hear Sam's squealing version of this |

Taio's doesn't sample or cover the 'Fast Car', it just shares a name with it.

Bascially what people have already said. There is no question that the original is the best by far, some washed-up basic dance remakes can't even dream of coming close to it. The Mutya cover is actually great though.

The dance versions are so shockingly terrible I hope they NEVER become hits tbh |

The original is definitely best for me too. I know the word "timeless" gets thrown about a lot but this really is. I mean, would anyone have actually realised this was a song from the 80s had they either not already known or been alive at the time? Could easily fit in with a lot of today's music as well as the 90s.

Turning it into an upbeat happy song takes away from the lyrics.

the lyrics are everything in the song, the storytelling, the rawness in Tracy Chapman's voice, how she's telling the story from the guts,... no silly dance cover can replicate that...

Yeah nothing listed here competes with Tracy's original. The Mutya cover sounds nice though
