You can view the performance from 2:56:30
I feel like she needs to adjust the key to suit her vocals on 'Like a Prayer'; she just can't manage it that high and that makes her out of breath quickly. 'Future' was better until that awful autotune came in. A shame this had to be on such a huge platform because it's giving the haters the opportunity to really go in on her hard. Piers Morgan relished in splashing "RIP Madonna's career" over the headlines. |

I thought the Future performance was pretty good. Definitely worked for me visually. Like a Prayer? There's no denying it was rough. Buuut...
I'm pretty tired of jumping onto Twitter and seeing a Madonna or a Mariah Carey (both with careers that put them at living legend status) being raked over the coals for a rough performance. Oh man, do I hate that cringe-face Chrissy Teigen gif that everyone uses. Yes, I've watched Madonna and Mariah struggle to sing their old songs...a lot. But it's like there's no acknowledgement of what they've accomplished in music for decades. I think we need an understanding. Voices naturally change as artists get older. Madonna and Mariah are still performers. They shouldn't have to hang it up and stop. But songs they wrote/performed in their 20s and 30s are just going to be hard to sing now. It's unfortunate Madonna didn't get a lot of credit for being a fairly disciplined singer years ago when she was actually killing it vocally. I think Madonna needs to adjust the old songs to be in the vocal range of where she is now...and if she does that, I think the audience will need to accept that she's in her 60s and voices just change. |

Shame her vocal let her down .
The two songs had no connection , this version of LAP didn’t suit Eurovision. |

Was it really that bad? She sounds pretty good to me in this version. I'm tired of Madonna being held up to impossible standards, no matter what she does it'll never be enough

I'm seeing so much negative press for this. Not sure I want to watch I don't think it was as disastrous as the media are making out. It's not going to kill her career, but for such a big gig as Eurovision she fell way off the mark. Vocals were all over the place and it all felt very flat and uneventful, to the point that the political imagery she used kinda went unnoticed. It's just a shame that one bad performance and the press are all over it, yet the era has otherwise offered some really great moments. |

Have they fixed the vocal? It sounds a bit better on this version. |

Listened to the first few seconds of her singing and it's most definitely edited! I'll have to watch it all and see if the improved vocals helps to lift the rest of the performance, because the vocals on Saturday detracted from everything else for me.

^ Yeah. The vocals have been completely re-edited. The difference is night and day.
So. Yeah. Have mixed feelings about her/her team doing that. I get that the big money maker for her brand is the live shows these days...and they don't want anything to harm the ticket sales. But I mostly think this will only bring her more unwanted attention. It's not exactly a secret that she didn't sound great on Like a Prayer. Does she think people will find the video on Youtube and just say "Huh. On second listen, it doesn't sound so bad at all!" ? Honestly, considering how often her real voice was hidden on the Rebel Heart Tour release, I'm surprised she went out there with such raw vocals for Like a Prayer. Did it actually go well in rehearsal? Are there people around her who would be honest if it didn't? |

the whole thing was a disaster. she looks so completely out of her element. i don’t think there’s anything about it i liked (i would’ve liked the staging had it not been a retread of her recent tour. i liked the idea of it being retrospective to like a prayer but it was derivative at this point and COMPLETELY joyless.)

On a positive note, I did like the new excerpt of 'Dark Ballet' we got. Reminds me a little like the spoken part of 'Future Lovers', not just for the line "I want to tell you about love". Looking forward to hearing that in full on the 7th!

Looking forward to hearing that in full on the 7th! I thought the exact same! Dark Ballet is the track I’m most intrigued to hear it’s already opposite to what I had in mind. |

Live Nation Sued Over Madonna’s Performance at Eurovision Song Contest
QUOTE Madonna’s Eurovision performance earlier this year was panned by many critics. Now she’s being sued over it as well. The KAN Israeli public broadcaster, which produced the Eurovision Song Contest in May, filed a lawsuit in a Tel Aviv court on Thursday against Live Nation and Live Nation Israel. The suit, first reported by Israel’s Yediot Aharonot daily, alleges that Madonna’s representatives violated the terms of their agreement and reneged on financial promises. A spokeswoman for KAN confirmed that the suit was filed, but declined to comment further. According to online court records, KAN is suing Live Nation for 1.375 million shekels ($390,000). A date for an initial hearing in the case has not been set yet. Live Nation Israel did not respond to a request for comment. According to the court filing, KAN provided Madonna with technical and logistical support that went beyond the Eurovision production, costs that were supposed to be covered by the singer’s team. The additional support included projectors, headphones, additional stage assistants, tents, security and other extra staff. KAN alleges that Live Nation agreed to cover those costs but never paid up, and attempts to recoup the money since the show have been unsuccessful. Madonna’s appearance fee for the 2019 Eurovision was covered by Canadian-Israeli billionaire Sylvan Adams. KAN publicly battled with the Israeli government over funding for the show, and was forced to take out a 70 million shekel loan (about $20 million) to cover the costs. The Material Girl’s Eurovision performance was controversial from the start. After drawn-out negotiations, Madonna signed a contract only two days before she took the stage during the show’s grand finale. And KAN producers and the Eurovision organizers were not pleased that the singer displayed Israeli and Palestinian flags on the backs of two dancers during the show, something that had not appeared during rehearsals. https://variety.com/2019/music/news/madonna...viv-1203334838/ Oops. |
