don't like either at all! i feel like she's kinda done it all before and has done it better... i just feel like she's become an idol for 'sassy' gays and she knows it, so she plays that in her hand. i know she's eccentric but it all seems kitsch for the sake of meme culture and quotability as opposed to making her best work. that being said, she's sometimes good for a bit of wordplay.
idk, i just never felt a sense of genuineness from her at all like you do with her current contemporaries like leikeli47, lady leshurr etc.

I get what you are saying here, and I think that is the problem with hardcore stans. Nicki is similar to Beyoncé and Taylor in that all the hardcore "stans" will think everything they put their name to is ground breaking or amazing when it isn't.

Only heard this one so far but agree in essence with what Lew and Sean saying, I do like the song well enough but it is quite off putting when she is so hyper aware of the fact she's a figurehead for the sassy gays and plays to that, because she is so capable of MASSIVE pop bangers that can be amazing and this just feels like it could have been a good enough album track from Roman Reloaded or something. The stans are really getting on my nerves as well on Twitter Of course each to their own, like the song of course that's fine, it's more just the awful Twitter fanbases but that's the same for most things tbf.

The thing that sets Nicki apart from every other rapper for me though, is that she has character and flow, without it sounding monotonous or boring (my main problem with Cardi B for example - she has good beats, but her raps bore me as I feel like her raps come off as uninterested and lazy)

I've given both songs a listen each and I'm not sure, neither have a particularly memorable hook and just don't seem like big future hits. I like it but she can do better.

Agree with Jake, Jack, Lew and Liam...I’m not loving either song to be honest. I really was excited and I’m going to try to get into them but I don’t even have a slight urge to listen to them. I’ve been loving the Cardi album today and pretty much all the tracks on there are more instant.

I think she wants to appeal to a more Drake-like audience rather than having a similar fanbase to the pop girls. It annoys me that everyone denounces Cardi for being apparently homophobic when Nicki blocked fans asking her to post a message about Orlando and she’s faced nowhere near the same backlash as say Jessie J for admitting she’s not bisexual when she said she was.

Yeah I do get that impression so I get why she's not doing pop necessarily, and it'd be selfish to want her to do something she hated, but I just don't really want... whatever this is from her. In fact my favourite song by her is probably Beez In The Trap, she can do not being pop without it being quite so pandering to the sassy gays (Lew saying that is the best way to sum it up I've seen so I'll just repeat that point
). This doesn't feel to me like the big comeback "look I'm back" to me, it's just like "a reminder I exist".

This is basically a more polished Itty Bitty Piggy - which is good tbf! But it’s not really a smash and I feel she could’ve gone a bit harder on production. It’s decent but I’m not sure it will be one of her classics!
I love the production on Chun-Li, I think it’s probably the better of the two!

Okay with distance I'm not underwhelmed by this but it's not as good as the other one.
Her flow still runs rings around Cardi though. There's so much I could level at her but that would be going off topic. Suffice it to say relying on cheap samples, ghostwriters/people writing for you and your boyfriend to make bops isn't exactly making waves as a female rapper~

Theres about 40 seconds in Barbie Tingz that is really great. Chun Li is for me though.
Didn't she say these were more of the 'poppier rap songs' in the interview or something to that effect? The run up to her coming into the studio where they played 'Moment for Life' made me realise that really is probably her best song.
