Some fabulous races there! Webber's hugely pleasing first win, a truly stunning drive from Villeneuve and that iconic Mansell V Senna moment.

Those last few laps at Monaco 1992 are sheer perfection.

Which is precisely why I don't understand why that race got so many plaudits yet 2018s with Hamilton and verstappen playing the roles didn't? Looked pretty similar to me, 2nd can't get past 1st no matter what they try.

You mean 2019 don't you, because 2018 was the tedious Ricciardo win?

The biggest differences between the two, for me, was that as I watched it, I never felt Verstappen would be able to pass Hamilton. That Hamilton was doing his usual exaggerating of his problems and that the dirty air would compromise Verstappen too much. Whereas watching Mansell and Senna it seemed ridiculous that Senna could keep the the ridiculously dominant Williams behind until the end. Mansell is much closer for much longer and his car advantage on Senna was far superior to Verstappen's on Lewis. Another factor is the difference in quality of the drivers. Both Hamilton and Verstappen are prone to mistakes under pressure. It was inevitable they'd touch and frankly, I was surprised they only made contact once.

Last year's was good but not in the same league.

Sorry yes I did mean last year! And that's fair, I cant judge perfectly fairly as i wasnt even born for the 92 race laugh.gif but of course I've watched those closing stages. You make a good point there, senna and mansell not even making contact, sheer brilliant driving!
