Lewis Capaldi heads for 4 weeks at #1 on the singles chart, with Calvin Harris again being his closest competition. New releases looking to make a dent include Sofia Reyes/Rita Ora/Anitta with R.I.P. as well as Emeli Sandé, Iggy Azalea and LSD

Jack Savoretti has a good shot at a #1 album with Singing To Strangers if he can dethrone Dave. Other new releases include Sophie Ellis-Bextor's The Song Diaries, Ludovico Einaudi, Fisherman's Friends, The Cinematic Orchestra and The Comet Is Coming

Breakdown of the week
- Saturday and Sunday: Information on Twitter from MintRoyale only. Please do not make requests, we do not have any information other than what's posted.

Not the same excitement this week in the Album chart but likely to be a close run thing as Sales will not be massive, Jack Savoretti is indeed looking favourite though given the promo he has put in (all ready done Graham Norton Show and The One Show) and he should make it. Not much competition I guess apart from last 2 number 1's (Tom Walker and Dave). Suspect TGS and BR will complete the Top 5.

Hope Sophie can get top 10!

Curiously every other of her Studio Albums seem to make the Top 10 (Studio Album Peak Positions: 2-19-7-33-4-12) - the good news for her is this latest one is due to be Top 10 if the order is maintained...

I think it's possible, top 10 these days isn't that hard to achieve and there seems to be more publicity surrounding this than there was for her last #12 studio album.

We have an OCC news article about the album midweeks. Jack Savoretti is #1, the report says he's sold more physical copies than the rest of the top 5 combined but nothing about what his overall sales lead is so that's not helpful. Sophie Ellis-Bextor at #7.

edit: the singles update news article is up too. Very little of interest happening although notably Tom Walker is all the way up to #4 so looks like he'll be comfortably outpeaking 'Leave A Light On' after all unless this update has a ton of missing data. Marshmello in at #27, Lizzo at #36 and Ava Max at #38.

Singles

Lewis Capaldi speeds ahead for a potential fourth week at Number 1 with his breakout hit Someone You Loved. Currently the single is 1,600 combined sales ahead of Calvin Harris and Rag’n’Bone Man’s Giant at Number 2.

Meanwhile, two acts are on course to land their first Top 5 single this week: Tom Walker’s Just You And I is so far up six places to Number 4, and Jonas Brothers’ Sucker lifts two to Number 5.

After debuting at Number 1 on last week’s Official Albums Chart, Dave’s Location ft. Burna Boy hops three places to Number 8, while Lauv & Troye Sivan are on the verge of cracking the Top 10 with I’m So Tired, currently up four at Number 9, and Pink rebounds two to Number 10 with Walk Me Home.

Further down, Sigrid climbs two with Don’t Feel Like Crying (18), Wiley, Stefflon Don & Sean Paul could jump 10 places with Boasty ft. Idris Elba (23), and Marshmello may take out his fifth Top 40 single with Here With Me ft. Chvrches (27) after leaping 15 spots.

American rapper and singer Lizzo could get her first Top 40 single with Juice, climbing 21 places to 36 after appearing on ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show over the weekend.

Finally, Ava Max could make a return to the chart with So Am I at Number 38, the follow-up single to her Number 1 single Sweet But Psycho.

Albums

Jack Savoretti is on track for his first Number 1 on the Official UK Albums Chart.

The singer-songwriter’s sixth studio album Singing To Strangers is looking likely to secure this week’s top spot as of today’s Official Chart Update - and give Jack his biggest opening sales week yet.

The record, which has so far shifted more physical albums (CD & vinyl) than the rest of the Top 5 combined, is all-but-certain to become Jack’s third UK Top 10 album, following 2015’s Written In Scars (7) and 2016’s Sleep No More (6).

Two more new entries are eyeing up a Top 10 debut this Friday; Sophie Ellis-Bextor is heading for a fourth top flight album with her orchestral greatest hits The Song Diaries at Number 7, and blues guitarist Joanne Shaw Taylor could pick up her first Top 10 entry with her seventh album Reckless Heart at Number 9.

Further down, British jazz group Cinematic Orchestra are set for their first Top 40 album with To Believe (12), ahead of Newton Faulkner’s retrospective The Very Best Of – So Far (17), UB40’s For The Many (19) and Trust in the Lifeforce of the Deep Mystery by The Comet Is Coming (20).

The world’s most streamed classical composer, Ludovico Einaudi, could land his fifth Top 40 album with the first release of his seven album project, Seven Days Walking: Day One (24), Port Isaac male vocal group Fisherman’s Friends may reel in a third Top 40 with Keep Hauling at 28, while Karen O & Danger Mouse are close behind with their first collaborative album Lux Prima at 34.

Finally, three more records could make their Official Chart debuts this Friday; Francis Rossi & Hannah Rickard are at Number 36 with We Talk Too Much, The Outcast could become Delvin’s fourth Top 40 at Number 37, and London rapper Slim closes out the Official Chart Update with Still Working at Number 40.
