These sort of videos make me want to mourn for humanity and this was no different!
"Lady Gaga when she was young?" Howling! |

I'm kinda disappointed in Sydney and Janelle. Judging from other Kids React music episodes, I expected them to know who she was at least!
Granted, they didn't play Like A Virgin, but STILL |

It's really quite shocking some of them didn't even know who she was, even after it was revealed to them. I get that these kids wouldn't necessarily have grown up hearing Madonna music on mainstream radio but it feels sad that Madonna isn't in young people's consciousness anymore. Perhaps as they get older, they'll learn about her and appreciate what she stands for and achieved, but it just seems strange.
I saw another "kids reacts" video previously and I don't think any of them knew 'Baby One More Time' was by Britney. |

to be honest, I had no idea who Madonna was until 'Hung Up' in 2005, I must have been 8 . Today's pre-teens would have never grew up with a big Madonna hit in their pop-culture-aware lifetime ('4 Minutes' is nearly ten years old) so I can't say I'm surprised.

I suppose you're right, that does make sense, it just seems strange to think that generation have no idea about someone who made such an impression on the music industry. On the flip side, they seem to be fully aware of Michael Jackson: |

Perhaps, but he died at the similar time to when Madonna was last getting hits, so I don't know if that's the reason one is more in the consciousness of young kids than the other.

I cannot believe this... I’m only 17 and I’ve always known who Madonna is. One of my first memories is seeing the Don’t Tell Me video on TV The idea that people don’t even know her name is just insane and alien to me
I’m just cringing at them knowing what a time lapse is and not knowing who Madonna is |

I really don't understand why this video is so shocking. Madonna is obviously very well-known but she was at her peak during my MUM's late teenage years and I'm nearly in my 30s. Kids of the age of those in the video probably think BEYONCE is ancient. Just because you stan somebody, it doesn't mean everybody else does.

That’s the thing with Madonna she was at her peak during your mums teenage years but she then re-peaked in the 90,s with The Immaculate Collection abd then re-peaked at the end of the 90,s early 2000 with Ray of light and Music. She then re-peaked in mid to late 2000s with Confessions/4 minutes... |

TBf this kids are like 6 in some cases lmao, Madonna hasn't had a proper big hit in their lifetime! Maybe their parents listen but you have other things to do at 6 years old lmao
I am absolutely DYING at the one who tried to compare to Zendaya though, I know what she meant but omg ffs :rofl; |

Madonna has not been commercially successful for over 10 years now and she is from a different generation so it’s not surprising some younger people aren’t aware of her.
