Robbie Williams hopes to go on tour at the end of 2022 after cancelling his Las Vegas residency in 2020 - but fears Covid-19 will scupper gig plans

Robbie Williams has hopes he will tour at the end of 2022, but has fears that the ongoing pandemic will scupper his gig upcoming gigs.

In an an interview obtained by The Sun the singer, 47, has called Covid-19 'terrifying' because it has left him unable to perform.

He said: 'Hopefully I’m going to go on tour at the end of this year. [...] We are two Christmases into it and it’s still going strong. It’s terrifying.

'It’s terrifying for many, many reasons but personally and selfishly I haven’t been able to gig, I haven’t been able to do a tour.'
The news of an upcoming tour comes after his Las Vegas residency at Encore Theater in 2020 was cancelled.

A source has also told the publication: 'Robbie's dream of getting back out on the road is something he wants to make a reality.
'This year could be tough, but knowing Robbie, anything is possible.'

Robbie's last tour, The Heavy Entertainment Show, finished in 2019 after performing in the UK, Europe, Australia and South America.
It comes after Robbie revealed how he was once the target of a hitman during the height of his fame - but he had 'friends' who made the situation go away.

He told how a contract was put on his head at a time when he was 'ridiculously famous', as he likened his stardom to Michael Jackson's.

Robbie explained how friends of his were able to make the contract 'go away', as he divulged in the 'unseen' side of being a celebrity.

Robbie told the The Mirror: 'I've never, ever said this, but I had a contract put on me to kill me. I've never said that publicly before. It went away. I have friends. That stuff is the unseen stuff that happens when you become famous.'
Robbie went on to discuss how he struggles with the attention that comes with being a superstar and how he has only come to terms with it in recent years.

He said: 'Extreme fame and extreme success meets with anxiety and depression and mental illness. There's a few levels of fame and what it does to you. The first one is "f**k".

'There's a couple more I can't remember but the fourth one is acceptance. You sort of rally against your privacy being taken away from you and you rally against it by trying to be normal, trying to be normal but also I'm gonna be small so people don't beat you up. Like, "I'm a d**khead, don't hurt me."' ]

Robbie Williams hopes to tour in 2022

Robbie Williams is hoping to go on tour at the end of the year.

The 47-year-old singer - who had to cut his Las Vegas residency at Wynn Las Vegas' Encore Theatre short in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic - is keen to get back on the road, but admits he wouldn't be surprised if COVID hit hard again later this winter.

He said: "Hopefully I’m going to go on tour at the end of this year. "but you see how this year has gone.

"I think every summer we’re going to think it’s over and then every winter it’s going to come back. “Every time I’ve had a guess that this is going to be over I’ve been completely wrong." Robbie admitted the pandemic has been "terrifying", and he longs to get back on stage.

In a new interview in the US, he added: "It’s terrifying for many, many reasons but personally and selfishly I haven’t been able to gig, I haven’t been able to do a tour." A source added to The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: "Robbie’s dream of getting back out on the road is something he wants to make a reality."This year could be tough, but knowing Robbie, anything is possible."

Robbie performed 16 dates at the Wynn Las Vegas' Encore Theatre in 2019 and was due to return for more in 2020 until COVID struck.

The pop star was planning to take on board some of the feedback he had received from fans following his initial shows.

Speaking in March 2020, he said: "People have come to the show and said, 'There's not enough Robbie Williams songs!' So it's a dilemma. And I hear them and I get it. So I'm adding a few more Robbie Williams songs this time around, because I am Robbie Williams.

"We shall see how it goes. But for those people leaving comments ... I'm really sorry. I'll try my best next time to please absolutely everybody, because that's what this job is at the end of the day: it's pleasing everybody."

I think for now work on the basis that everything is much safer outdoors and in the winter there could be restrictions.

He always tours in the summer anyway so summer 2023 looks a possibility following an album end of this year?

I am trying to ignore the fact that NME seems to think that Dublin is part of the UK laugh.gif

Robbie Williams announces 2022 greatest hits UK tour
The shows will mark 25 years since he started his solo career

Williams’ new album, which is out on September 9, features orchestral versions of his most famous songs – from ‘Feel’ to ‘Strong’ – recorded with the Netherlands’ Metropole Orkest, while the deluxe version includes four new original songs. It also features new song ‘Lost’, a Gallagher-style ballad that sees Robbie sing, “I lost my place in life / I lost my point of view”. “It’s the same sort of song that ‘Feel’ was when that came out back in the day. I’ve got big hopes for it,” Williams recently told NME.

So I pre-ordered the album today.

I can't justify the cost of the deluxe so bought the regular signed album. £5.50 postage -really????? sleep.gif

Had a look at the cost of O2 tickets.

They were eye watering. ohmy.gif

Lisa and I are going to try for the Sunday -the middle tier £107 tickets.

If he announces Friday/Saturday we may go then instead.

I also notice that the Gibson hotel is sold out for the 29th & the hotel prices elsewhere have already doubled & more, what a rip-off , the money grabbers in the country annoy me so much mad.gif

So I got my pre-sale code

I honestly thought the pre-sale was Friday morning not tomorrow so good job I saw that. rolleyes.gif

Going to try for the Sunday £107 tickets. Can't afford anymore than that.

Not going to stress if we don't get any because I'm sure he'll announce Friday and Saturday night too during Friday when the general sale is on.

Only problem is -Ticketmaster and their flexible pricing policy once the pre-sale is over...... shall have to see what goes on
