I am the MASTER of disguise. Despite the fact I think this one was pretty similar to most of my UP entries. x

04 POPCHARTFREAK ◼ 乌龟tortoise 'Sun Quan the Emperor (Guzheng & Drum Version)’
QUOTE Why 'Sun Quan the Emperor'? I've had my song lined-up as a UP potential for a while, I thought it would suit UP rather than BJSC more. I was really impressed by the musicianship when I saw the video, amazing skills, and I've always loved the sounds of various genres of Asian music from my childhood days living in Singapore. I never set out to win, but I like putting out interesting entries to see what the reaction is to them. I hope not to get to the stage where people can predict what my entry is going to sound like, and I deliberately vary the genres and styles and ages of my entries Votes 20 points: Fiona Walden ‘Shoot Me Down' 15: JeanGa & George 'Compromise' 12: Sophia Bel 'Time' 10: Thylacine ‘Versailles' 8: Flunk ‘Queen of the Underground’ 7: American Football ‘Silhouettes' 6: Sarathy Korwar ‘Bol (feat. Zia Ahmed & Aditya Prakash)’ 5: Faye Webster ‘She Won't Go Away' 4: Hana Vu ‘At the Party’ 3: Jake Shimabukuro ‘The Greatest Day' 2: 9mm Parabellum Bullet ‘ハートに火をつけて (Heart ni Hi wo Tsukete)' 1 point: Deja Blu 'Lake Song' This was definitely the most left-field and obscure song in the entire competition for me. Such an interesting choice. As I've already said, I've liked everything I've heard from Thylacine, but that song just didn't fit in my votes.
Thanks for the SASSY love *.* |

I'd have been assuming 'Sun Quan The Emperor' was a Chez Wombat pick if he was actually in this contest! Reminded me a lot of his BJSC entry 'Koto' by Strawhatz. Another great choice there from PCF. (thanks for the 10 more points too, good start so far x)
Gah at 'Compromise' actually being in the lead!! As I've already said, I've liked everything I've heard from Thylacine, but that song just didn't fit in my votes. I forgot that you'd said that, it was really incumbent upon you to vote for this one now so you let me down (jk xx) |

An inspired entry PCF! Really enjoyed it and, as you say, lovely to see the great musicianship being displayed.

05 FRANKLUCK ◼ HVOB ‘Panama'
QUOTE Why 'Panama'? I found 'Panama' while checking out the FM4 Chart (the chart of an Austrian radio station) some months ago. Not a me-entry, but I really like it. I thought of sending it to BJSC but I guess it fits here a bit more (can't see it doing too well though, there are many samey entries. I hope I'll manage to avoid bottom 10, not something I'd usually send but it won me over after some listens, such a great track![ Votes 20 9mm Parabellum Bullet ‘ハートに火をつけて (Heart ni Hi wo Tsukete)' 15 Uppermost 'Given by Nature' 12 Fiona Walden ‘Shoot Me Down' 10 Luttrell ‘Windowscene' 08 Snapped Ankles ‘Tailpipe’ 07 Mall Grab ‘Liverpool Street In the Rain' 06 Liar ‘Benzolovers' 05 Thylacine ‘Versailles' 04 Jake Shimabukuro ‘The Greatest Day' 03 乌龟tortoise 'Sun Quan the Emperor (Guzheng & Drum Version)’ 02 Toundra ‘Magreb' 01 Robots in Disguise ‘DIY’ I love my top 3. 'Heart ni Hi wo Tsukete' is a great discovery and I'm sure I'll keep listening to 'Given by Nature' as well. By the way - I am definitely loving reading the paragraphs around why people sent their entries, it's making it more personal.

I hope some other people have been as dull and short as me with their 'why they chose this' answer!

Oh that's the one I thought was yours Lewww so I was wrong!
It just reminded me of a Trentemøller track and I could only think of you as the other big fan of that sound on the board. |

Ooh so many great songs being revealed early! That was such a highlight Frank - should be top 10 minimum tbh.
