new music to follow up the Ecstasy EP is coming! supposedly featuring the guy from ‘when a fire starts to burn’!
Wonder if they'll premiere it on Friday as they're doing a virtual set for Big Weekend
Hopefully a more radio friendly single with a well known featured artist. We can hope.
Whatever it is it’s coming at 3pm tomorrow!
The song is called Energy and there is a sample here (without a credited artist);
they are now teasing a collab with Aminé and Slowthai! looks like this could be the start of a new EP or album.
Common, Blick Bassy and channel tres too. This has got to be an album
Kehlani and Kelis too!!! Haven't heard Kelis on a song in agesss so that'll be nice and Kehlanis vocals on a dance song will be good to hear.
Well what a stomper that is, it’s exactly what we needed from them
3rd album 'ENERGY' out on August 28th!
Tracklisting edited into the above post. SO EXCITED.
Hyped for the Kehlani and Kelis tracks
I hope this is an improvement on Caracal, they really lost me with that. Although they have done a few decent things since then.
That's a great feature list there, looking forward to this! Excited for the slowthai collab in particular + loving seeing another Fatoumata Diawara collab on the way too, I think 'Ultimatum' may be my favourite song from them these days and their work with African artists has continued to be excellent with 'Tondo' and 'Etran' being my 2 fave songs from their recent EP. Cool to see those and their other EP tracks getting a belated placement on a proper album albeit only the deluxe version (and lol at 'Talk' being tagged on too).
edit: I see Blick Bassy is also an African artist so perched for that track too.
Kelis!!!
I'm so excited to listen to this song to be honest.
big yes for an actual album coming out of this! a late birthday present for me too.
not a huge fan of Energy on a listen, sounds like a good album track but I want a killer single.
'Energy' kind of goes nowhere in the same way 'Bang That' does.
Douha (Mali Mali) is available to listen to from a previous mix they’ve done
I think I have missed the fact that they did album #2
Energy is #95 in the mids today
I'm really liking 'ENERGY', giving me some 'When A Fire Starts To Burn' teas! (The music video is kind of hilarious as well)
It is interesting that they're releasing one of the very few non-collab songs as the lead single.
#26 on the dance chart is a decent start, can’t have been too far off the actual Top 100 in the end
Really buzzing for the new album! Ecstasy and Tondo have really grown on me over the last couple of months. Really looking forward to the Kelis track - she's had a number of great dance features. I cannot forsee any massive singles however.
Returned to Caracal recently and I enjoyed it a lot more than when I first bought it.
New single out next week.
omg please be one of the collabs
It is My High that we are getting tomorrow at 7:30pm BST. Preview sounds like You & Me!
My High SLAPS
My High is everything - love love love
Not a big fan of ,,My High"
My High is sounding great, a little bit different for Disclosure but I like it, certainly an improvement over the title track (which I get the feeling will probably end up as one of my least faves of the album).
Loving "My High"! A definite change in sound for the boys but a very welcome one
'My High' is another banger, slowthai over Disclosure production not disappointing some parts of it (primarily Aminé's verse) are reminding me a little of '212'.
Think I might like this one more than 'ENERGY'. 2 for 2 so far anyway! (or... 5 for 9 if including the bonus tracks lol)
#77 in the mids for 'My High' - looking good for them to get a Top 100 out of this
showing at #260 and #352 on Apple, for the edit and album version, annoyingly no way of knowing where it'd be combined
Ooh I didn't realise there were 2 versions of this, it had a lower first day debut than 'ENERGY' on Spotify but I guess it was probably higher combined then. Hope it should be good to stay top 100, would be their first as the primary artist since 'Magnets'. Believe it'd also be Aminé's first ever UK top 100 hit (after being a one hit wonder in the US 4 years ago) and only the third for slowthai!
Mildly better mids positioning than Energy which is nice to see! Fingers crossed it charts. Would love to see a return to Top 40 at some point during this era for them
My High Has been playlisted by Radio 1! Nice to see but still shocked ENERGY wasn’t
Is it possible 'ENERGY' was meant to just be a promo single? I still think it was an odd decision to drop one of the few songs without a big name feature as the lead single, 'My High' also sounds much more like single material anyway (much as I liked 'ENERGY').
#86 for My High this week (#23 on the dance chart)
Douha is out tomorrow. The video premieres at 19:30am BST.
Disclosure and Fatoumata are such a winning combo. Another wonderfully joyous song from them.
#83 for Douha today in the charts!
Getting the top 100 peak that 'Ultimatum' deserved, we love to see it. *.* (Surprising that this actually outcharted 'My High').
Douha has been remixed by Joe Goddard this week, but it's an Amazon Music only exclusive
I'm a big fan of Disclosure so I'm glad they have come back with new music.
I hope that 'Douha' becomes a hit single but I doubt it. It's too quirky and alternative for that.
Douha (Mali Mali) is now on Radio 1’s playlist!
1 WEEK TO GO
Birthday, featuring Kehlani and Syd, is out on Wednesday
Certainly sounds different from the sample here, full song available later this evening;
'Birthday' is out now - a bit more RnB than we're used to from Disclosure, I am quite liking it on a first listen however.
there's also a Minecraft tie-in for the album
The VIP Mix is also available which takes it up a gear for the better. The official video for the original version is out on Friday with the album.
I listened to this earlier and perhaps really wasn’t giving it my full attention but it just didn’t wow me? The Kelis track is a nice opener and I already loved ENERGY and My High but everything else sort of falls flat
it certainly feels like the weakest of their albums yet which is a shame, I did quite like the first two tracks but especially wasn’t too keen on that six minute French song.
I enjoyed it on first listen, more than Caracal at least. Need more listens to form a proper opinion though.
Also really liked the Kelis collab - been missing her!
Midweek #4 and in a busy week for releases, not bad at all. Will probably end up missing the top five but top 10 is certain.
In the singles chart Birthday is #71 and Douha is #81.
Who Knew? video is now available
It keeps its #4 position! Great position considering the top five is full of new releases.
Birthday #81, Douha #87.
Wasn't expecting too much from the album tracks from the general reception I've seen to the album but I have been pleasantly surprised - I think this album overall is quite a bit better than 'Caracal' and actually might be rivalling 'Settle' for me! 'Who Knew?' is my favourite of the songs we hadn't already heard 'Lavender' and 'Watch Your Step' are both certified bangers as well and I did rather like 'Ce N'Est Pas' and 'Reverie' too (though the latter felt like it was over before it really got going, while the former could probably have done with being a bit shorter - make both of them 4 minutes and it'd probably improve the album even more ) 'Birthday' is the weakest on the album for me (excluding the interludes and 'Talk') but it's still ok, I just don't really find Disclosure's crossover R&B-ish songs as interesting as their other work I guess. Naturally it has ended up being the highest charting song from the main album lol ~ (but yay for 'Douha (Mali Mali)' joining it this week for a second week in the top 100 - I really need more songs from Disclosure & Fatoumata, both of their collabs are among Disclosure's all-time best for me <3)
(edit: I typed this before getting to the remixes of 'Birthday' - both of those are definitely improvements on the original (particularly the MJ Cole remix) but it's still not a standout on this tracklist, just maybe lifted ahead of 'Reverie' and a couple of the songs from the 'Ecstasy' EP x)
I’ve found myself adding this to my Apple Music download list for plays offline which i didn’t expect as the singles have wowed me but the album as a whole is really interesting on first listen, really like the different genres in the album body and it’s just well differebt.
Wookie Remix of Who Knew? is out today. Big garage vibes
Honestly if I didn't know which was which I'd have assumed the original version was the Wookie remix, I get stronger 'garage vibes' from the original kind of disappointing remix there imo.
'Reverie' and 'Lavender' both have videos now as well - surprised these have got them before 'Watch Your Step'. They've been dropping a video each week for the last few weeks though so maybe that one will be coming in the next couple of days?
Why didn't they try and push 'Watch Your Step' at any point? It's so good!
It's 'Confess To Me' all over again.
CLIPZ (Redlight) has remixed ENERGY
Another remix available this week
Watch Your Step is Nick Grimshaw's Tune of the Week on Radio 1 and now the next single, the right choice
Theo Kottis Remix of Mali Mali is now available too
Watch Your Step has been added to 6 Music's playlist this week, can only expect R1 to do the same relatively soon
Hope radio 1 will add it, they've supported most of the other songs. Would be nice to see Kelis included again too.
This is GREAT news!
Probably the best news of the whole era.
Another EP out today;
Not new material, just one of these playlists of old songs released as 'EPs' that have been spamming the Spotify profiles of a bunch of artists recently.
Such a shame 'Watch Your Step' did nothing at all despite heavy Radio 1 support and seeming quite popular.
