I'm thinking another way of getting older tracks off the top 75 / 100 would be to change the ratio to 1000:1 for tracks once they are outside the top 40, as long as they had been top 40 hits to begin with. They are tracks that are being just played on playlists (as a whole). That would make room for newer songs that are are on the way up. It would be the streaming equivalent of the "sell off singles" rule that was introduced to the charts back in 2002, that was intended to remove singles that were yo-yoing around the bottom end of the chart because they'd been placed in the bargain bins in Woolies, Asda etc. It would help tracks get more momentum with the possibility of getting into the top 40 and then get higher up the chart.

Am I right in thinking that Hailee Stansfield will be on ACR next week if she does not reach the 16,590 sales mark despite it's current number 37 peak as she's already had 11 weeks in the chart?

Anyone know how Fifth Harmony charted at 47? It's been around 120/160 all week on iTunes? Makes NO sense.

It increased this week, so no That does raise a negative point about this new rule though - what if a song reaches its peak in as late as its 7th or 8th week? In a run like 99-79-48-52-50-24-5-5-6-6 and in that 5-5-6-6 it drops sales against the market 3 weeks running, even very slightly? It has barely reached its peak in the chart and suddenly ACR has taken hold. I think Niall Horan "Slow Hands" is the closest example we've had so far - that's of course if it has actually had ACR applied, I found it confusing earlier dropping so much but I thought it was only in its 10th week in the chart, I thought it only applied from week 11 onwards...? |

It has barely reached its peak in the chart and suddenly ACR has taken hold. ACR applies from the 10th week, not the 11th week... the exact rule is "Accelerated Chart Ratio cannot be applied to any product with fewer than 9 weeks on chart (ie. ACR can only be applied in its 10th week on the Top 100 chart, at the earliest).". (Singles chart rule 6.2). In other words, what happens on week 9 potentially determines whether on week 10 it attracts SCR or ACR.

AS best I can tell, Niall Horan was the only T40 song hit by ACR this week.

Looking at the sales & streaming charts, One Last Time must have had it's ratio changed as it's above Know No Better on both formats but well below officially.

July 14th 2017 11 - 12 DJ Khaled - I'm The One 15 - 25 Niall Horan - Slow Hands 22 - 20 Shawn Mendes - There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back 23 - 22 Ed Sheeran - Shape Of You 27 - 29 Clean Bandit feat Zara Larsson - Symphony 34 - 40 Ed Sheeran - Galway Girl 35 - 36 J Hus - Did You See 36 - 39 The Chainsmokers and Coldplay - Something Just Like This 38 - 42 Disciples - On My Mind it seems DJ Khaled didn't have ACR applied this week, and Ariana should be there with her 20-27 drop. |

I think Ariana was affected last week actually, when she fell 13-20! I noticed from the midweeks that she was a bit lower than she'd otherwise be.

I've just looked back, and I can confirm it did indeed have ACR applied when it fell 13-20. On the Wednesday before that chart, it was #20 in the Music Week midweeks, but #16 under the old rules. |

After too much confusion I've decided to only display the entries that have been ACR affected in its first week and they will all be shown in the OP.

It's the sales manipulation which bugs me. Why don't they just remove songs from the Top 100 chart after 10 weeks to give those that want freshness, freshness, but leave the sales alone. That way Shape of You could be properly measured against Happy and so on.
