Twitvid of Ella announcing it!

Love Ella Eyre. All her singles have been fantastic so can't wait to hear this!

Posted by: mr_aly 16th June 2015, 06:43 PM

I wonder if this will actually be the single the album is released off the back of?

I dread to think how much money her label have lost on her.

Posted by: Dobbo 16th June 2015, 07:17 PM

Come on Ella I'm begging for a huge solo smash!

Posted by: Jack 16th June 2015, 07:25 PM

Bless he for trying but I don't think she will ever have a big solo hit unfortunately.

Posted by: barbaric_dan 16th June 2015, 08:41 PM

What does she need to do for a hit? She's such a nice girl!

Posted by: andreweeyor 16th June 2015, 10:43 PM

When's the album actually coming out?

Posted by: Liаm 16th June 2015, 11:04 PM

I've said since If I Go "this will be the song to do it" laugh.gif This time I'm not thinking that, if Together couldn't do it I don't think she has a shot, sadly. They should just release the album after this but I'm genuinely worried it just won't happen sad.gif

Posted by: rob_s 16th June 2015, 11:32 PM

I wouldn't exactly rule her our never getting a 'BIG solo hit', I guess whatever it is she's releasing in the last year just hasn't left that big an impression on the public like we have!

I know this says a lot given she's now released 4 singles and none have really set the charts on fire but I still get some glimmer of hope that maybe not this era because as far as that's concerned this is dead in the water but possibly if she releases the album, it doesn't do that well then she quickly moves onto to album #2 and properly get a huge hit waiting in the wings with top writers and producers on board then what can exactly go wrong?

Obviously if that was the case and it still do nothing then I might be on the same opinion with everyone but I can see her scoring a hit somewhen. She's GOT unbelievable talent she just needs that killer song that connects thoroughly with the public chart wise. You have to remember Paloma's first era spawned two top 20 hits only then album #2 came along and boom there comes a top 10 hit with 'Picking Up the Pieces'. I'm not entirely gonna write her off just yet but maybe just this album era only she's not quite hitting the mark for some reason!

Posted by: mr_aly 16th June 2015, 11:42 PM

I don't really see what else she can do... her first single was an attempt to capture the success 'Love Me Again' achieved the year before by cloning it, 'Comeback' sounded huge but didn't do it for her, 'Together' was a copy of 'Changing' (and to some extent 'Gravity', which shows she can only seem to score a hit guest appearing on someone else's track).

It's a shame though, but I think she's proven at this point that she's tried everything and can't make it.

Ahh but "New York" was a big hit. Not in terms of charting but it was v. well liked.

Posted by: Joe. 18th June 2015, 08:19 AM

I still think she'll get decent support for this. She just needs a better song - Though I thought Comeback was fabulous and that still flopped. I still think she has it in her for a solo hit.

Posted by: Dobbo 18th June 2015, 06:01 PM

Also remember Charli XCX's first album did nothing commercially but the big feature of Fancy changed her fortunes.

Posted by: mr_aly 18th June 2015, 06:02 PM

Hardly comparable.

Posted by: ThePensmith 22nd June 2015, 11:32 AM

I'm surprised as anyone why 'Together' wasn't a top 10, especially as it got released the week after she finished the Olly tour and pretty much all of the fanbase were singing her praises night after night (she was awesome live though, TBF). I'm looking forward to hearing this new one anyhow. Pre-ordered the signed deluxe edition of the album from her website too.

It's just a really odd market atm, no different to how downloads helped the really 'cross appeal' acts or artists with fanbases who had access to credit cards for iTunes accounts in 2005 (or in this case, for Spotify accounts in 2015). Couple that with airplay/radio station/label politics of late (Radio 1 and Capital being the absolute worst of all) and certain genres or artists being more 'in vogue' than others and it's depressing to say the least.

Posted by: EyreHead 27th June 2015, 04:00 PM

Eh, I'm not exactly feeling it, judging by the live version. Sounds like a bit less anthemic and exciting version of Comeback and Together mashup. Although I need to hear the studio version first. I wonder if the album's going to get pushed back again.

This situation is more comparable to if Charli had tried launching her career following 'Fancy' and 'Boom Clap' still failed.

Charli had nothing going for her when she released her first album, she was a complete unknown. Ella has Sound of... and Critics' Choice support and has already done the "featuring on a big hit" thing multiple times now. You really don't get better platforms to launch a career off of than Ella has.

They should have just put the album out with 'Comeback'. You can't compare it to Paloma because she released the album early and put out some notable singles after that. The album only did so well because it had an extensive post-album campaign. Ella will release her album after single 4 at the earliest and probably release one more single following it if even that. She's not going to start off well or have longevity.

She is screwed to put it bluntly. Just hope she's actually allowed to release the album because that's far from guaranteed.

Posted by: Davidson 27th June 2015, 06:49 PM

I liked it a lot, reminded me a lot of Basement Jaxx's 'Good Luck' which I absolutely love.

However I don't think it is different enough from her previous singles to really hit the big time. I don't think it sounds massively different or more commercial than 'Together'. It is the same formula again.

Love the cover!

You can stream it from tomorrow on Spotify and it is out for release on 14 August. smile.gif

Ella Eyre ‏@EllaEyre
#GOODTIMES will be on spotify as of MIDNIGHT TONIGHT...

Posted by: Liаm 28th June 2015, 07:06 PM

Being on spotify this early is something more artists should do drama.gif I mean it won't help someone who's looking to get a #17 SMASH that much but still, it's a good move.

Posted by: Ryan. 28th June 2015, 07:06 PM

Just heard this on the Glastonbury coverage, sounded great but very similar to 'Together'. So I'll probably really like it, but I doubt it's going to be a top 10 sad.gif

Posted by: EyreHead 28th June 2015, 11:02 PM

It's on Spotify and it is amazing! I feel like it might be a huge one for Ella, because the studio version sounds really anthemic and exciting. Radio should eat it up, I think. Possibly the song of the summer?

Posted by: Jonjo 28th June 2015, 11:15 PM

If 'Together' couldn't do it for her, then I don't think this will, when it's pretty much an inferior version of it. sad.gif I do like it, but it's hands down my least favourite solo Eyre track. So I will be a bit peeved if this was the one to break her through (I doubt it, but there's always a minor chance laugh.gif)

Posted by: Ryan. 28th June 2015, 11:27 PM

I agree with Jonjo to an extent, I really like it but it is like a watered down version of Together. It may grow yet though!

Posted by: Red. 28th June 2015, 11:44 PM

Actually just made a spotify account to hear this biggrin.gif

Love it. Like I have all her singles. What a banger!! I actually can't wait for her album all her singles have been 10's tbh.

It does sound similar to Together but IMO a better version of it!

Posted by: Liаm 29th June 2015, 02:06 AM

I think it's more sonically interesting than Together, but not as good. It reminds me of that crossed with Good Luck by Basement Jaxx a bit. I'm with Jonjo and Ryan though, I definitely like it but it's my least favourite of the singles so far... It might be a grower but I definitely think if Together couldn't do it, this won't break her into the top 10

Posted by: ML Hammer95 29th June 2015, 11:38 AM

Prefer this rather than Together. Sounds much more interesting.

Posted by: EyreHead 29th June 2015, 11:43 AM

I think this was produced by Sigma.

I can not stop streaming this song. Love it

Posted by: Dobbo 29th June 2015, 09:23 PM

She is incredibly consistent! Another solid effort from her but I said that about Together & got bored of that rather quickly.

This does sound very similar but has a perhaps more interesting vocal melody? Either way I'll be rooting for this as per.

Posted by: ThePensmith 30th June 2015, 08:22 AM

Good to see she's put this on streaming already. Provided Radio 1 get on board this should help her case a lot more this time.

Posted by: Sean. 30th June 2015, 08:32 AM

Getting "Changing" vibes from this.

They will. It was TOTD yesterday.

As for me my thoughts on the song it's decent enough but for someone with such insane vocal talent as Ella. The song just seems to make me think she can do a whole lot better and this is the problem with it not catching on. It's not her or her voice it's the songs that just aren't doing her much justice.

Although I'd personally say 'Comeback' should have caught on with the public more as it was very 'this sounds like a hit'.

Posted by: mr_aly 1st July 2015, 01:46 PM

This is awful, I fail to see how this will be the one to do it for her.

Posted by: JosephStyles 1st July 2015, 04:13 PM

This is really disappointing sad.gif I love her voice but it actually sounds really annoying in this? I prefer it to the bland If I Go but Together and especially Comeback are way better.

Posted by: Dobbo 2nd July 2015, 06:57 PM

Ok I'm adoring this now. I'm not even too sure why as has been mentioned it's very similar to Together but I'm just feeling this one infinitely more music.gif

Posted by: gooddelta 4th July 2015, 12:22 PM

I actually prefer this to her other solo singles quite considerably! Does sound like Changing meets Good Luck though.

Posted by: Ryan. 23rd July 2015, 02:15 PM

The music video is here!

It's obviously not the most expensive video in the world, but it's filmed beautifully and is perfect for the carefree nature of the song. The song has also considerably grown on me since it first premiered, it has continued her run of excellent singles!

Posted by: mr_aly 23rd July 2015, 02:21 PM

I like the video a lot! Very vibrant and bursting with personality.

The song remains heinous. sad.gif

Posted by: Ultraviolence1989 23rd July 2015, 02:49 PM

Definitely growing on me now wub.gif

Posted by: Cameron 23rd July 2015, 04:07 PM

I love it! The chorus sounds a lot like Changing though. There also seems to be a theme of Ella stealing / breaking things in her videos laugh.gif

Posted by: Dobbo 25th July 2015, 08:41 AM

Amazing vid to accompany an amazing song wub.gif

Posted by: Robot 5th August 2015, 10:58 PM

I'm with Rich on this one, I've liked all of her singles but nothing has grabbed me until this. It is very similar to Together but I think it's an improved version personally, feels more genuinely feel-good and joyous. For whatever reason, as big as Comeback did sound, I was never in love with it. This is the first time I can say I love an Ella Eyre song so I hope it can do well for her... I doubt it, but it'd be nice.
