Hi Andy! I'm taking this opportunity to listen to two songs I haven't heard yet. Here we go:
04 | 02 | Kwabs | Perfect Ruin [02-04] On first listen this sounds like it'll be my favorite Kwabs track to date  Hopefully I haven't said this about every Kwabs song, but I mean it this time! Really enjoying the subtle thumping rhythm, the piano and the melody. Also I was compelled to replay it before moving on to another song Something about it reminds me of Jamie Woon. A Kwabs/Jamie Woon collab would be potentially amaze 12 | ** | Kelly Clarkson | Good Goes The Bye Wasn't a fan on first listen, but I gave this one a second listen as well and it sounded better. Vocally it's nice (the second verse stood out to me most, as did various lyrics throughout) but I think the production distracts from that too much. In any case, I'm glad you've found a Kelly song to stan for!  10 | ** | MAGIC! | No Way No Okay, you win. But I will try to chart this higher than you next month!

Ah, delighted you listened to and like 'Perfect Ruin'! And YES to rhythm, piano, melody . I hadn't been reminded of Jamie Woon but now that you say it, the track definitely has that atmospheric quality. Also, the video is essentially Kwabs walking around in night air (don't know if you saw it and that prompted the comparison  ) so I've a feeling it'd fit in well alongside Jamie Woon's stuff on my walking-home-leisurely-in-the-middle-of-the-road-at-4am-while-drunk-and-deep-in-thought playlist.  Yeah the production on 'Good Goes The Bye' isn't up to much really but the MELODY . Also I read somewhere that it used to be a country song that was popified, which makes a lot of sense I think (cos lyrics and MELODY).Well it's early days but at the moment 'No Way No' is looking like a potential climber so you're gonna have to be on yo game. I wasn't aware 'Can't Deny My Love' is likely to flop  ?! It's seriously one of the best, most immediate songs I've heard in the last couple of years so yeah, it needs to be a hit!I haven't heard MAGIC!'s album and honestly I had no interest in them despite liking 'Rude' a lot (as I assumed the appeal was solely in the song rather than them) but 'No Way No' is just so damn catchy! I'll be sure to give the album a listen when I get a chance. I much prefer 'Bloodstream' to 'Hold My Hand' so I'm definitely Team Ed tomorrow. And yes, 'Elastic Heart' top 10 would be so satisfying after all the near misses. Fingers crossed indeed.  'Firestone' is glorious. Would sound amazing in the summer (abroad).  Thanks Mango! I completely agree with you about 'Bloodstream' as well - nothing to add! Your musical opinions are on point as per *.* Yeah, 'Style' did underperform I guess but when you take into account how well the album's done already, the fact she had no UK promo (I believe) and the streaming disadvantage, I feel like a multi-week top 30 is pretty good going. She'll have no issues getting another moderate hit at the least anyway with the stuff she has to choose from (especially if 'Out of the Woods' gets its rightful time in the spotlight ). 'Make Me A Bird' is utter perfection. Beautiful vocals and I love the drums throughout but especially in that last chorus . It was entered in BJSC so that's how it was introduced to me. You should consider joining BJSC yourself - it's a lot of fun and I always make some great musical discoveries from it (and also we'd be likely to give each other a fair few points considering our tastes are similar  ).

I guess the fact that it's unexpectedly turned into a hit in America slightly makes up for the criminal handling and wasted potential of 'Not On Drugs'...I still prefer the latter though. I held onto the belief that 'Not On Drugs' was my favourite for a long time, but i believe the single release of 'Talking Body' and the video and its potential to smash has made me realise just how good it is and it has now narrowly 'Not On Drugs' (no discredit to that though, as i still adore it).Yes, 'Hush' continues to grow on me evermore now. It definitely is like something Taylor would do in her experimental/break-down era *_* the chorus is absolutely sublime and i would love for somewhere to pick it up and give it the exposure it needs. The video too! So engrossing <3 and glad you're liking 'Dynamite'! Dawn's album doesn't match the sound of 'Tide' too closely, but it's still a good listen nonetheless Also thanks for posting that Erik Hassle thread.
