Both co-produced with Stephen Bray and Patrick Leonard and both have been widely considered as her best 80s album. Question is: which do you prefer?
OMG this is super hard!!!
True Blue holds more memories for me .
I also love when albums are very diverse.
This is mean! How dare you make us choose
Like A Prayer for me
The only Madonna album I like more than that is Ray of Light.
Like a prayer is my favourite Madonna album but it is so hard to choose! Like A Prayer, Ray of Light and True Blue are my holy trinity of Madonna albums (Confessions is so close too!)
I honestly can't decide. I think I have always preferred True Blue but recently Like A Prayer has shot up in my affections...
My vote after much deliberation goes to True Blue.
This is closer than I thought it would be .
It's definitely Like a Prayer for me but True Blue is a fantastic pop album. It holds one of her strongest string of singles; they all offer something different but are united by their attention-grabbing intros and glorious hooks and melodies. Here, we see Madonna master the art of combining catchy pop and powerful messages without sacrificing the qualities of either. That's particularly evident in 'Papa Don't Preach' - a song that you can sing and dance too but has so much emotional weight to it. I think the singles are a tier above the album tracks but they are great carefree moments that hold the collection together.
Like a Prayer takes it for me because it holds the qualities of True Blue and also gives us insight to the life behind the superstar. She pushes herself creatively and considers how to use her vocal to give extra weight to the songs. Mostly likely the album that completes my Madonna Holy Trinity.
I went for True Blue!
After a tiny bit of deliberation, I too shall plump for True Blue!
