*THIRD WEEK AT NUMBER ONE* - The Horrors “Something To Remember Me By”

Southend-On-Sea's The Horrors make it to a third week on top with “Something To Remember Me By” which holds pole position amongst some very strong competition in the Top 3. Despite a career that spans more than a decade and with five studio albums under their belt the group have only had two #1s on my chart - the other being 2011's “Still Life” which spent a fortnight at number 1 in July 2011. Six years later and they finally match their biggest hit but have in the intervening time chalked up a further 5 Top 20 hits - the most recent “Machine” peaked at #17 back in August.

Narrowly missing out on chart champion honours are Brisbane's Confidence Man - a collective from a variety of bands including The Belligerents, Moses Gunn Collective and the Jungle Giants - whose incredibly catchy “Boyfriend (Repeat)” dips slightly from 2-3 this week. It is overtaken by Canadian group TR/ST, the project of Toronto resident Robert Alfons. Last in the Top 10 back in 2014 with “Rescue, Mister” (#6), a new standalone single entitled “Bicep” (not related to the recent Belfast electronic dance duo of the same name) continues to ascend 4-2 and makes a strong challenge for the #1.

The remainder of the chart is becalmed with only one song posting a double-digit position increase and just 5 new entries. The biggest climber of the week comes from The xx, who follow-up recent #1 “I Dare You” (down 41-50) with “Dangerous” leaping 38-26. Highest debut is from St. Vincent who releases 2nd single “Los Ageless” from forthcoming 5th LP MASSEDUCTION out on Friday - it debuts at 40. Returning to the chart are Haim at 48 with “Little Of Your Love” and there are chart debuts for Ibeyi (with “I Wanna Be Like You” at 44), Yaeji (with “Drink I’m Sippin On” at 46) and CamelPhat & Elderbrook (with “Cola” at 49).
