Omg *.* I loved 'Insatiable' (second favourite solo GA song after 'Fight For This Love') and Xenomania GA-esque banger fills me with so much hope. Please deliver Nadine!!

Good job Cheryl has had her baby because the anticipation for this might have been too much kink.gif

Are we predicting a release this year or next?

Someone who has heard it has compared it to 'Groovejet' by Spiller and they seem to think it is coming on Fri 25th ohmy.gif

Posted by: AdamAloud Aug 16 2017, 02:16 PM

Oh wow if true, it's been too long since Aloud material!

The lead single is called 'Go To Work' and here are some descriptions from people who have heard it:

QUOTE
Go To Work is a lot like a late 90s summer dance track. It reminds me of Groovejet or something, it has that rolling groove. Not sure it sounds like Girls Aloud... maybe the last 30 seconds or so? "When I come home, when I come home, just a little bit of work when I come home" is very 'Sarah's bit' and the harmony/ad libs could be Nicola/Kimberley's lines I guess. It is certainly catchy, anyway. Not her best moment vocally, the intro seems harsh to me, but overall it's better than anything on Insatiable. I'd still say Beat Of My Drum remains the best solo Aloud moment, though. Call My Name a close second, this probably third.
QUOTE
It's actually quite similar to Something New? Same tempo, same structure, same sort of distorted "male sounding" backing effect, double chorus ending with an echoed dead end. I swear the guitar riff, which is quite Nile Rogers/Get Lucky-ish, is from something else. But anyway, this is the most Girls Aloud solo song yet. I might even go as far to say more so than On The Metro, which I've always felt sounded like a Nicola Roberts b-side.
QUOTE
It just carries on where Something New left off really. It's a pop song, leaning towards a dance song. It doesn't really sound like anything else just now... and I don't think it'll do anything, chart/sales-wise. It's too little too late and Xenomania bangers really aren't what the general public want.

Posted by: JosephStyles Aug 16 2017, 09:31 PM

omg!!!!!! That sounds phenomenal already, the Something New comparisons are particularly exciting ohmy.gif ohmy.gif ohmy.gif

(I've split the topic so we have one for the single)

Posted by: Davidson Aug 16 2017, 09:33 PM

I just made a separate topic in the last few minutes (must have been doing so at the same time), so if you wouldn't mind just deleting it.

But yes, I am so excited. 'Groovejet' meets 'Something New' sounds amazing.

Very intrigued, actually! ohmy.gif

She was always my fave.

Posted by: AdamAloud Aug 17 2017, 12:20 PM

Trying not to get TOO excited but it's all sounding marvellous (and what should've been happening in 2010)

Posted by: Rihsus Aug 17 2017, 03:14 PM

This is gonna be life changing *.*

Posted by: Jay ☆ Aug 17 2017, 07:16 PM

So ready for this, very excited that it's been compared to Something New! Her being a "one-woman GA" music-wise would be incredible. *.*

Posted by: Liаm Aug 17 2017, 07:30 PM

Oh I didn't see the Something New comparisons ffs

Posted by: Saenerys Aug 17 2017, 09:21 PM

Why don’t you do your thing
Bring the money home just like mama done
Why don’t you go to work

Not sure how I feel about the artwork, I suppose it's quite striking! Here is a very large version of it: https://cdn-resources.crowdcat.co/media/ecc3c672-6aa4-4daa-aac9-80d3605c235d.jpg

I don't know whose face that is in the artwork but it sure ain't Nadine's.

Looking forward to the song though.

She looks like she's half asleep in the picture. Very strange lighting as well.

Oh well, just let me bop.

She looks like Lori Loughlin there.

Posted by: Klaus Aug 26 2017, 04:16 PM

She's capitalising on Sarah's CBB stint/win with this. An advert for this single came up as a suggested post for me on Facebook and I clicked to see why and it said she's trying to reach those interested in Celebrity Big Brother laugh.gif

Review from Molly King:

It feels like Xenomania could be having a bit of a moment again, doesn’t it?
“Yes with Nadine [Coyle] as well! Her song is absolutely fab, it’s so good.”

Posted by: pippa Sep 1 2017, 07:57 PM

I am excited to hear the Nadine song in full. I have read where some people have said the sound is in line with Girls Aloud's Something New. This is something i hope to be true as i think that is one of Girls Aloud's strongest singles.

Yeah, that is the instrumental. It is the same backing as the 30 second clip we already have.

It actually reminds me of 'Chasing The Sun' by The Wanted so far laugh.gif

OCC review:

QUOTE
Girls Aloud's Nadine Coyle returns with new single Go To Work and it's a certified banger: First listen review
Nadine is back in a big way – and it sounds like she's found the passport to success.

Since Girls Aloud's split in 2012, it's felt like there's been a gaping hole in pop that's just been waiting to be filled. And who better to fill it than Nadine Coyle, whose considerable vocal acrobatics were at the centre of the group's hugest hits, and Xenomania, the songwriting and production geniuses responsible for the group's 21 Top 10 singles – including four Number 1s.

While Nadine already scored solo success with 2010 single Insatiable, and her debut album of the same name, aside from a few guest appearances – including a duet with Westlife star Shane Filan – Nadine has been fairly quiet.

But now pop's ultimate dream team of Nadine and producer Brian Higgins, along with the rest of the Xenomania crew, have reunited to recreate the magic, and the good news is… they've still got it!

New single Go To Work is out this Friday (September 8) and after a few listens, we can tell you it's a guaranteed floorfiller that stays true to Nadine's pop roots but gives an exciting glimpse into the new direction both her and Xenomania might be heading in.

The best dance songs take their cues from the classics while keeping an eye on what's happening right now, and Go To Work mixes the two brilliantly. Its infectious housey piano and incessant beat recalls the golden era of the '90s, while the bang up-to-date production includes elements any pop fan of 2017 would be familiar with – tropical house influences are present and correct, even if the overall vibe is nowhere near as laid-back. Go To Work is here to DANCE.

The main draw here, of course, is Nadine, whose vocals have never sounded better. Nadine is always at her best when she's wrapping her powerful voice round a banger that's laden with hooks, and the the urgent lyrics and effortless delivery are quite the motivator. "Tell me what I gotta do to get you up in the morning," implores Nadine as she drags her lazy lover, but we reckon all we'd need to get out of bed would be Nadine herself – she's not to be messed with here. Nadine's voice was always a showstopper, and on Go To Work we can hear how it's matured; she sounds as powerful as ever, but there's a new depth and richness to it.

Songs can live or die on the strength of a chorus, and Go To Work is full of beans, as Nadine lays down the law, ensuring the message is sent loud and clear. Guaranteed to immediately take residence in your brain as your new favourite back-to-school banger, Go To Work is so good you'll almost forget your date of birth in all the excitement. Let's go to work!

Go To Work is available to download and stream from Friday, September 8.

Can't wait for Friday! *.*

I wonder when we'll hear news of the album? I hope her management are doing a Mollie King and leaving it 75% released when the single is out drama.gif

I love it! It's not typical Xenomania (which is what went to Mollie) but it's reasonably modern in sound and very catchy!

Posted by: leewallace Sep 7 2017, 01:57 PM

It's okay!

Better than anything but Sarah and the other one!

Posted by: Liаm Sep 7 2017, 02:01 PM

It's solid, I don't think I'll go mad over it but it soudns more modern than I thought, it's got more potential than Hair Down but I still doubt it'll do much chart wise of course. Still, nice to have her back.

Posted by: Andrew. Sep 7 2017, 02:10 PM

This is quite good, it's not a 'slay me mother cohyle' moment but I can bop to it at least! Been way too long

Omg I love it.

Posted by: Hayzayy Sep 7 2017, 05:50 PM

IT'S STUCK IN MY HEAD

Posted by: White Mustang Sep 7 2017, 07:22 PM

Dated, somewhat generic and totally faceless.

But a bop's a bop.

Posted by: Davidson Sep 7 2017, 07:26 PM

Yes. This is very 2014 generic Clean Bandit track, but I have always been a fan of that kinda sound anyway (hence why I wanted Sigala x Ella Eyre to be a hit earlier this year).

It ain't groundbreaking but it is a catchy bop for sure. Already better than basically all of Cheryl's output too. Queen Nuhdeen.

Posted by: JosephStyles Sep 7 2017, 08:07 PM

Has anyone seen my wig? I had it earlier but it vanished as soon as I played this unsure.gif

Seriously though, this is such a bop. I mean, we know it stands next to no chance of being a hit anyway, so I'm just glad we've got a banger like this wub.gif

Posted by: Jay ☆ Sep 7 2017, 09:03 PM

Oh YES Nadine! wub.gif Welcome back! Woo a bop.

I agree that this is definitely not typical-Xenomania! She sounds quite different too - her tone has deepened & it's a more soulful delivery. In a sense the fact it's not typical-Xenomania or typical-Nadine, makes it sound like it's a faceless/random dance hit. That will sound like a criticism but it's not. It's great!

Posted by: Cameron Sep 7 2017, 11:07 PM

Omg why does she sound like Paloma!!! I'm bopping

Posted by: THEO. Sep 7 2017, 11:11 PM

I do like it but it is so dated although obviously not the same way that "Insatiable" was (although I do think it feels like it was taken straight out of that album somehow). It's obviously not going to be a hit though, I'd love to hear a new album from her anyway.

Do we know if she's getting a physical release of this? I have the majority of the solo singles on CD (yes, including "Threads" and the Tesco-exclusive "Insatiable" itself! 😬 ) and it would be quite nice to add this too, even though I have no money to actually buy it laugh.gif

Posted by: AdamAloud Sep 11 2017, 09:31 AM

It's basically a Diet Coke advert but it suits the song well!

Posted by: THEO. Sep 11 2017, 05:17 PM

^That video is broken. What the hell are they playing at?! You can't even listen to the song on her official YT channel.

#67 in today's midweeks nocheer.gif Really hope this can hold on to the top 100. Such a shame, I'm loving it so much now.

Posted by: Andrew. Sep 11 2017, 06:21 PM

Maybe they're trying to divert people to Spotify/Apple Music to get dem streaming points? That would still be crazy to not even put it up on youtube obvs but it's literally the only explanation I can think of laugh.gif

Nuhdeen not even having her single on youtube though

Posted by: THEO. Sep 11 2017, 08:09 PM

Speaking of Spotify, the label have paid to move "Go to Work" up to #4 on their New Music Friday playlist... on Monday.

Posted by: Jay ☆ Sep 11 2017, 08:25 PM

Oh wow, that's a choice :') If only it'd been that high in the first place!

Well hopefully if they're willing to do that they'll have some power to get Hot Hits UK asap D:

I still think it was a mistake for it to not be on her "Nadine Coyle" page and thus credited as that. Particularly as she's got it as "Nadine Coyle" on iTunes now.

Posted by: pippa Sep 11 2017, 09:30 PM

#67 is disappointing start. I will be extremely disappointed if she misses the Top 100.

Is any promo lined up for the remainder of the week.

'Go to Work' on Spotify playlists:

#1 on United Kingdom Viral 50 (62,576 followers)

#2 on Global Viral 50 (499,665 followers)
#4 on New Music Friday UK (470,799 followers) *
#9 on Club Music (414,291 followers) - (German playlist)
#13 on Digster Pop (44,337 followers) - (German playlist)
#16 on New Music Friday (199,660 followers) - (Australian playlist)
#24 on Weekly Buzz (500,406 followers)

* Originally 10th, moved up on Monday (as Theo mentioned). :')

-------

Her team is being very awkward when it comes to her artist tag. drama.gif

Spotify
- 'Go to Work' was originally tagged as "Nadine", but has been changed to "Nadine Coyle" (as of today).
- All of her music on Spotify is "Nadine Coyle".

iTunes
- 'Go to Work' started out as "Nadine", was changed to "Nadine Coyle" over the weekend, but then reverted back to "Nadine" yesterday.
- Her 'Insatiable' album & 'Insatiable' single have also been changed to "Nadine", as of yesterday. As far as I'm aware the album was tagged as "Nadine Coyle" ever since it was first added to iTunes back in 2014!
- 'Sweetest High' has stayed as "Nadine Coyle".

Seriously, Nadine or Nadine Coyle, just stick with one already!

As great as it is to see Nadine again, the video is pretty uneventful. I know that it was probably on a budget, but there's no charm or flare or anything to suggest this was the same person who appeared in Girls Aloud's videos and that isn't a fault of the budget.

Posted by: Saenerys Sep 15 2017, 11:42 AM

The video is the love child of New Rules and Notorious with the office theme combined with all the different set ups with the other people, walking, etc. Insatiable video who?

That's exactly what I had in mind!! ohmy.gif See, the foundations are kinda there for a great pop video, but everything else just feels very off.

Posted by: andibob Sep 15 2017, 12:15 PM

The shot with the window cleaner man is just odd. And some of the cuts around the party scenes with the slow mo don't quite work. Love the strutting... kinda wish more people joined her in the strut and it zoomed out.

Yeah I'm just happy it was even in contention (slightly), outdid my expectations tbh!

Video isn't great but it could've been worse.

Her total sales are 3.1k. Downloads were 1.6k, streaming points 1.5k
Not bad all things considered, 4k would have got her in the top 100.

What a shame. Hope she has another single and album coming regardless!

Posted by: Jay ☆ Sep 16 2017, 09:02 AM

#100 sold 3,263, and Nadine sold 3,132... only 131 sales in it. sad.gif

(Nadine sold 1,616 downloads & 1,516 from streaming {which equates to approx 227,500 streams})

Unfortunately since ACR came into play, there is only an official Top 100... so technically she hasn't achieved an official chart position for it. In the "old rules" chart she's #168.

I'll try and work out where she'd have theoretically charted if the new-rules chart went beyond a Top 100!

Edit: There's a few songs where I can't tell for sure whether they're on ACR or not... but I've managed to work out that Nadine would definitely be somewhere from #106 to #116 if the "new rules" chart stretched to a Top 200.

Sadly not! sad.gif I can't imagine the Insatiable album has managed much more than 15,000, and maybe the single got to 25,000... they're just guesses though.

The Mirror are out for blood, for some reason. unsure.gif

Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle's solo comeback flops as new song fails to chart.

A music insider said: “It’s embarrassing after expensive promo.”

Nadine, 32, is no stranger to a poorly executed campaign.

Firstly... what expensive promo? :')

This is a single from an ex-girl group member who is in her early 30s, 15 years into her career & 7 years on from her last proper solo stint. The fact it even came close to charting in the Top 100 is quite miraculous!

I think the best that can be hoped for is that it'll continue to pick up streams, it's on some fairly decent playlists. Maybe if some TV promo is forthcoming the download will have a boost.

Her team has messed up with the video though, for some reason it doesn't appear in search results.

Posted by: Jonjo Sep 16 2017, 05:54 PM

LMAO. WHERE IS THIS PROMO INDEED!!!! rotf.gif

Posted by: Juranamo Sep 16 2017, 08:02 PM

Posted by: Feel_The_Fever Sep 17 2017, 03:01 AM

I hope there will be more interest in her album. It would be nice if her new album can get a higher peak than her last album.

Posted by: sajjadali Sep 19 2017, 12:35 AM

Totally true it will be judged by how it performs in the next few weeks not just last week! They want to be negative. She hasn't even promoted yet bar media and online.

I wonder how things would have performed had she not signed an album deal with Tesco? She's got such good presence and deserved so much better chart wise but she deserves better material.

On paper, a major label would have given Nadine more exposure (TV/radio)/wider availability... but I have a feeling she'd still have been incredibly overshadowed by Cheryl and not achieved particularly major success. It's hard to say really... it probably would have rested on how good her hypothetical major-label 2010 single would have been! I suppose the fact she even got to #26 with Insatiable (single) on an indie label was a reasonable achievement, looking back. Maybe that demonstrates she had greater potential with a major.

I love the performance on Lorraine. It's so good having her on a new interview in such a familiar setting! I don't like how they painted the Girls Aloud scene though, I do feel they exaggerated the relationship with Sarah a tad.
