Dexton's Top 50 (05/02/2019) (Week 91)
Lewis Capaldi ascends to the #1 position on his 4th week in my chart with Grace (4-1), becoming the 4th #1 of 2019 so far and continues the streak of all-male #1 songs since Ariana Grande's thank u, next rose to the top at the beginning of December. Speak of the devil, her latest single 7 Rings (19-10) rebounds back up the chart to find a new peak of #10 and becomes her 8th Top 10 hit in the process. Lewis Capaldi gracefully pushes Catfish and The Bottlemen's Longshot (1-2) and Ocean Alley's Confidence (2-3) away from the top spot whilst Calvin Harris & Rag'n'Bone Man's Giant (6-4) becomes Calvin's 4th Top 5 hit. Funnily enough for Calvin, his track record so far is that he either manages a huge Top 5 hit (Faking It, One Kiss, Promises, Giant) or completely misses the Top 10 completely! Rag'n'Bone Man earns his first ever Top 5 hit with her first ever entry in the chart. A chart record I'm sure: this week sees 5/10 singles in the Top 10 from Australian artists! Partly in thanks to the Hottest 100 which brought Alison Wonderland's Church (13-6) to my attention although the likes of Hilltop Hoods, KIAN, and Dean Lewis were already hits here before Triple J's poll. Ocean Alley also have Triple J to thank for claiming the largest jump in my Top 50 to date last week going from #41 to #2. Outside the Top 10 we see Dominic Fike's 3 Nights (12-11) edging slightly closer into the upper reaches of the chart - closely following 7 Rings at #10 and then 7 Minutes at #9. Mike Posner's Spong About You (14-13) sneaks back up the chart after a tumble last week as does Lady Gaga's Always Remember Us This Way (20-17), You Me At Six's I O U (26-22), Jax Jones & Years & Years' Play (25-23), The 1975's TOOTIMETOOTIMETOOTIME (33-32), and Post Malone's Wow (37-34). Post Malone actually earns himself a new peak this week after spending 6 weeks between #35 and #40. Khalid's Saturday Nights (18-14), Amy Shark's The Idiot (22-19), and Vera Blue's All The Pretty Girls (23-20) find new peaks in the Top 20. Steadily growing outside the Top 20 lately has been Rudimental's Walk Alone (feat. Tom Walker) (27-24), coming from their latest album Toast To Our Differences which was... a disappointment to say the least. So much so that it hasn't even charted in my album chart yet and is unlikely to make an appearance there. Artists with singles debuting this week who have been in the album chart however include Passenger, who's Saviours debuts at #30 and is already looking likely to outpeak Heart To Loves #27 peak, and 21 Savage, who enters with A lot at #39. Adding to the already eclectic range of new entries this week we have CamelPhat & Cristoph's Breathe at #31, Julia Michaels & Selena Gomez's Anxiety at #36, X Ambassadors' BOOM at #40, Billie Eilish's bury a friend at #47, and Little Mix's Think About Us at #49. Spending a second week at #50 is lovelytheband's Broken. Hi Dexton!
Great to see 'Grace' at #1. I still prefer it to 'Someone You Loved' for the moment although the latter is starting to take off for me. 'Breathe' is a decent enough dance tune, and stands out in the chart. Didn't think much of Julia Michaels' EP tbh. New Little Mix is good but Ty doesn't really add anything to the song. Nice chart as always |

great to see the Hottest 100 effect giving Fisher a top 10 here and CamelPhat entering this week! Also liking 'Bury a Friend', good to see it'll be her first top 10 hit in the UK.
'Giant' is my fave in your top 10 and your BJSC entry will be appearing in my chart as soon as it's eligible too. |

Hello Dexton!
Very happy to see "Giant" and "Pretty Shining People" in the top 5! I also like the big rise for "Someone You Loved" and the debuts for "Breathe", "Bury A Friend" and "Think About Us"! Great chart! |

Nice chart as always Hi Mango! Same Someone You Loved is growing on me fast! Anxiety is a great song - so far I've only heard that and the Niall Horan song but this definitely takes the cake for me Thanks for commenting! great to see the Hottest 100 effect giving Fisher a top 10 here and CamelPhat entering this week! Dance hasn't had much representation in my chart so far this year come to think of it - Fisher and CamelPhat are making up for it a bit Otherwise the danciest my chart has got is from I guess Rudimental and Jax Jones... but neither are very dancey Billie is really becoming big now isn't she! Good to know about Ghost! Thanks for commenting! |
