QUOTE To Entertainment Weekly, Musgraves describes Golden Hour as "trippy;" her influences for the project, she says, were Neil Young, Sade and the Bee Gees. The artist wrote most of the album in 2017, except for one previously written, unreleased track that she's performed live. “I have a lot more love songs this time around, and I’ve never been one to write a love song and really feel it,” Musgraves says. “That probably sounds like the most depressing thing ever. [But]I’m coming off getting married and being in this golden hour of my personal life, where all these things are finally coming to fruition. I found myself inspired to write about this person and all these things he brought out in me that weren’t there before.” Musgraves' collaborators for Golden Hour include Luke Laird, Shane McAnally and Natalie Hemby, as well as Fitchuk and Tashian. “I was thinking about how there are different masks that we wear that represent different sides of us. None of the masks are solely us, but they’re all us," Musgraves explains of the album's theme. "On this record, there’s the lonely girl, the blissful girl, the new wife, the girl that’s missing her mom, the angry girl, the sarcastic girl, the ‘60s-sequined Cruella de Vil with the beehive, the shy girl, the life of the party, the winner, the loser — they’re all characters on this record. None of them alone are me, but the golden hour is when they all come together and you see me as a whole." Fellow singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow also played a role in Golden Hour's creation: The album was recorded in the studio above Crow's horse stable, so she would come hang out every so often. Track Listing: 1. "Slow Burn" 2. "Lonely Weekend" 3. "Butterflies" 4. "Oh, What a World" 5. "Mother" 6. "Love Is a Wild Thing" 7. "Space Cowboy" 8. "Happy & Sad" 9. "Velvet Elvis" 10. "Wonder Woman" 11. "High Horse" 12. "Golden Hour" 13. "Rainbow" from The Boot: http://theboot.com/kacey-musgraves-golden-...new-album-2018/ Here are the two songs released so far, 'Butterflies' is very good and I absolutely love 'Space Cowboy'! |

Neither song has really grabbed me that much I hope the album as a whole hits me, her other two were absolutely fab, especially Same Trailer Different Park!

SLOW BURN IS EVERYTHING SOS. It's giving me Dido - Thank You crossed with Miranda Lambert - Vice vibes, Kacey's voice really shines on a raw, simple and honest song like this
That and High Horse are the highlights but it's a really strong album, cohesive as always. It's a bit samey in places so is a bit of a "certain vibe to listen to it in full" kind of album but as a piece of work it's really strong and has a definite idea behind it. Her writing is brilliant |

A few more listens and I think this is album of the year for me The little things about this album are really creeping up on me, she is absolutely incredible at writing songs that have so many layers despite seeming like simple countries and you just keep discovering new things about them, the lyrics and the music. Butterflies and Space Cowboy have grown on me a lot too in the context of the album.

Omg that's fab! Paegant Material peaked at #11 and Same Trailer at #39 so hopefully this can be her first top 10 album and continue the upward trajectory.

Absolutely loved this on first listen, 'Space Cowboy' remains a standout track for me along with 'High Horse' and 'Happy & Sad'. I couldn't fathom how Kacey could surpass the quality of her debut, but I'd already rate this and Same Trailer Different Park just about equally!

Bebe Rexha has paved the way for Kacey to have success in the UK mainstream... Clara Amfo is playing "High Horse" on Radio 1 right now *.*
