Ya i really wish it had gone number 1 for her, it made it all that harder than she was number 1 in the early midweeks,

She missed out by 11,000 copies in the end. Was it actually #1 in the midweeks? That seems like such a massive gap if it was.

I don't think it was, but they were really close (like a few hundred copies apart), but of course Beautiful ended up outrunning IBTW. I remember it very well though from the Danushka forums at the time that it was peak excitement. It wasn't really disappointing either that she ended up at #2 which is why I think she was never at #1 in the midweeks.

As for Put The Needle On It - I love, love, love it. It definitively falls more into the 80s Prince vibe (along with Creep, unjustly voted out) rather than the 80s Madonna pop vibe. Both good vibes, but I can see people who aren't huge fans of the former might not like PTNOI that much.

I thought she was number 1 in the first midweeks. I know number 2 was a great outcome especially for dannii as it was her only top 2 hit. I think she would have needed multiple meet and greet signings that week to have got the number 1 now knowing there was an 11k gap.

Can't find any midweek info but the Music Week report for that chart week didn't say anything about Dannii being midweek #1. Looking at the UKMIX archive, it seems most people were shocked she was as high as #2.

Ya I dont think dannii was expected to be so high, possible top 5 was what many thought. Maybe I'm getting confused about midweek number 1 and maybe it was the press saying she was in contention for number 1.

For whatever reason my memory wants to say they were around 800 copies apart at one point. Either way they were close - maybe she was number one on the weekend but not once the official midweeks came out? :scratchchin:

Either way, after the relative "flop" of Put The Needle On It her racing back to the top three was amazing.

Ya put the needle on it I think people were expecting better from in the chart so I begin to wonder bounced things back into shape nicely. Do we have any midweek info on neon nights, was it higher than 8 at any point?

"Put The Needle On It" always reminds me of that demented hooker (!) that used to post on SayHey as "Dannii's Top Fan" until she released "Put The Needle On It" which he found very offensive for whatever reason and said that Dannii might as well have sung "Put the dicks on me" (?!). Oh and one time he used black magic to raise a spirit to kill me. I'm still waiting. Peak insanity either way.

Good times, good times.

Far too much drama and lunatics on SayHey - that’s why I read and lurk on there now laugh.gif Also the crazy Madonna fans on there that troll constantly drama.gif

Trollers just join such forums to annoy and stir up people.
It removes all the joy of taking part when it happens.

INTW was never number 1 in the midweeks.

PTNOI was expected to do better I still think it’s so good !! It was released in a tough week. Did this only have 1 Cd release I know no bsides were included.

They got IBTW release right 2 cds , 2 new songs on each ! This helped sales.

A first Top 5 album was on the cards but slipped away.
