To be released sometime this summer according to Diplo on Twitter. You could check the tweet https://twitter.com/Zach___Correia/status/999037617701310465.

Good to see her keeping her name out there before hitting us with DL2 in Autumn ;o

Posted by: Cqmerqn 23rd May 2018, 09:25 PM

I actually think she should stay clear from features from now on until DL2

Posted by: Ronald McJackson 23rd May 2018, 10:47 PM

Oh my god, how many projects does Diplo have on the go? :laughcry:

Why? it keeps her name out there till the time being so for me its a good thing

I have to say it helps build up hype for a new era if there's at least a few months gap with no new music, I'm sure she'll do great anyway.

It's called "Electricity" according to Mark Ronson's The Times UK interview. The track was co-written by Florence Welch and Romy Madley Croft of The xx.

Posted by: Theo. 17th July 2018, 03:41 PM

When will we hear it?! I know they (Silk City) are performing at Bestival in less than three weeks' time so I would hope it'll be sometime within the next two!

Posted by: Theo. 2nd August 2018, 08:28 AM

She teased this on her Insta with the caption "Her name is Electricity... and you'll meet her soon enough ⚡".

So excited!

Posted by: Juan Carlos ⚡️ 8th August 2018, 09:16 PM

She confirmed to https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/watch-dua-lipa-detail-mark-ronson-diplo-collaboration-new-album-plans-706539/ that the music video was shot last week, so if both of them (the song and the music video) are released simultaneously, I guess the track will be out in the following weeks (maybe at the end of the month or early September at the very least).

Regarding the track, she said the following:

QUOTE
"We did a song together that I'm again really excited about. It's something different, but it does lead into some of new music that I'm going to bring in my albums. It's got some throwback elements to it; it's dancey; it's still a pop song. I just shot the video — I shot it the day before yesterday but I finished at 7am. yesterday morning. We shot all through the night. It wasn't at the Louvre, unfortunately — it was in New Jersey."

Posted by: Botchia 8th August 2018, 09:19 PM

It wouldn't surprise me if this is the song to knock Drake off #1

Posted by: Eleni 9th August 2018, 07:53 PM

It wouldn't surprise me if this flopped either though!

Posted by: Juan Carlos ⚡️ 23rd August 2018, 10:10 PM

Rumoured to be released in two weeks (September 7).

Posted by: Joe. 26th August 2018, 10:16 AM

Yessss

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 26th August 2018, 10:54 AM

Hoping it's in a similar vein to this beauty:

If it is, I'm excited to hear it!

Posted by: Theo. 28th August 2018, 09:35 PM

A very tinny clip of this can be heard on Dua's https://www.instagram.com/p/BnCUPdEl1ou/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=1ihfj5gye6rts. Bop incoming! 😍

Posted by: Juan Carlos ⚡️ 28th August 2018, 09:41 PM

Besides Mark Ronson, Diplo, Dua Lipa, Florence Welch and Romy Madley Croft, the track was also co-written by Diane Gordon (fka. Wynter Gordon), Philip Meckseper (aka. Jr Blender), Maxime and Clement Picard (aka. The Picard Brothers) and Jarami.

Posted by: Juan Carlos ⚡️ 1st September 2018, 11:51 PM

She's teasing the music video on her social media too, so looks like the track and the music video are going to be released simultaneously.

Yikes...sounds like something straight out of 2014. Jess wants her song back

Posted by: Joe. 6th September 2018, 07:32 AM

The video and song together are a truly euphoric moment.

Wasn’t sure on the song on a first listen listen but the video totally sold me.

Posted by: Liаm 6th September 2018, 10:13 AM

A HIT. Jess Glynne wishes. It's so effortlessly uplifting and joyous wub.gif

Posted by: Scene 6th September 2018, 10:25 AM

Not as instant as One Kiss but still GOOD. Coming for third #1 hopefully!

Yeah, sorry but Jess has never put out anything that feels as warm, vibrant and euphoric as this.

Posted by: HarryEzra 6th September 2018, 12:28 PM

I feel like this could be a grower on me not as instant as One Kiss for example!

However, I don't get the Jess Glynne comparisons like at all...

Posted by: mdh 6th September 2018, 12:47 PM

From 3.20 to about 3.30, the track sounds very strangely mixed, like the sounds are clashing with each other. I can see this going right to #1 at some point, though.

2014 was a much, much better time so that's not exactly a bad thing.

Great tune!

Posted by: Theo. 6th September 2018, 06:12 PM

I do like this after a couple of listens. It's not my favourite thing she's ever done but it's different. I wouldn't say it's particularly '2014' sounding but I'm enjoying the house influences on it. I wish it was Dua singing the chorus rather than the MNEK lite backing vocalist though.

Posted by: Botchia 6th September 2018, 09:30 PM

It's nothing revolutionary but it's a proper good little bop. I don't really get the Jess Glynne comment either. This is far more euphoric and polished than anything of the pedestrian stuff she's put out.

And video is perfect for the song! It really sells it! Like Theo, I just wish it was Dua's vocals over the chorus.

Posted by: Cremey 6th September 2018, 09:45 PM

Pretty sure it is her in the chorus, just distorted vocals?

Anyway, absolutely loving this. Agree it’s nothing revolutionary but it’s so carefree and euphoric.
Far more instant for me than One Kiss.

Posted by: Joe. 6th September 2018, 10:14 PM

Time will tell if I’m still bopping to the song in 2 weeks time but I really absolutely cannot stop watching the video. Sure it’s simple and doesn’t say much, but it feels like a moment for her. It’s euphoric and makes me want to party in a 90s New York loft apartment with the straight men stuck in the lift.

Posted by: AV102 6th September 2018, 10:52 PM

It's impressive that she is listed as the lead artist on the new track as well as the one with Calvin

Posted by: Jαsє 8th September 2018, 08:14 PM

BOP.

I'd also like to be stuck in a lift with Mark and Diplo.

Replace Diplo with Dua then perfect!

Posted by: Dobbo 9th September 2018, 09:38 AM

Very strong vocal from her on this one, I like it! Vid is great too.

I also don't get the Jess Glynne comparisons - it's still leagues below her output.

Posted by: HarryEzra 9th September 2018, 10:31 AM

It's allready growing on me a lot heart.gif

Posted by: JosephAvery 9th September 2018, 07:27 PM

I totally get the Jess comparisons but there's leaps and bounds more personality in this, it's a great little track. I prefer it to One Kiss too (which I never totally got into).

Posted by: Botchia 9th September 2018, 09:28 PM

I'm definitely instantly loving this more than I did with One Kiss (though I grew to really love that in the end). I think the video certainly helps! She's such a star!

Posted by: Defaze 14th September 2018, 07:29 PM

I know I'm late, but this is incredible. Definitely challenging 'Be The One' and 'Hotter Than Hell' as my favourite Dua song, and infinitely better than 'One Kiss'. Hopefully it can still go to #1 despite the comparatively slow start.

Edit: I've just twigged the Jess Glynne comparison now that it's been mentioned in this thread. Probably why I love it so much. laugh.gif

Posted by: SKepner 22nd September 2018, 12:11 PM

This is so much more instant than One Kiss which took until about it's final week at number one for me to like laugh.gif

It's catchy enough not to get boring too quickly either.

Posted by: Tawdry Hepburn 22nd September 2018, 08:14 PM

I really liked this on the first listen, but it continues to grow and grow in my affections.

I love the "I know you've been treating yourself wrong" line. wub.gif

Posted by: Cqmerqn 22nd September 2018, 10:12 PM

I really don’t understand the love for this, it’s so mediocre and Dua is capable of much more than this.

Posted by: Joe. 24th September 2018, 11:07 AM

Still love this, so glad it's another top 10 for Dua, hopefully it can go top 5 in a few weeks!

Posted by: gooddelta 25th September 2018, 09:16 AM

I love this too, it's such an effortless joy with a 90s vibe that I love. Dua can do no wrong for me recently, New Rules, One Kiss and this are easily three of my favourite chart hits in recent times.

Posted by: Klumzee 25th September 2018, 09:20 AM

One of my favourite songs around at the moment! I think I prefer this to One Kiss despite that being a more instant hit - I wish this was getting multiple weeks at the top too. I think it'll reach top 5 eventually and hang around as it should have a pretty broad appeal whilst still sounding very current.

Very late to this, another song where Dua Lipa just smashes it.

Yes, I would say also that she does appear more confident and comfortable with performing compared to 12 months ago.
