Louis, Ava & Bananarama, some great pop songs out this week! Really liking the Marshmello/CHVRCHES collab on first listen too, it's more instant than his other stuff, can easily see it being a big hit.

So far this year we've had 11 top ten debuts, in comparison to 3 in 2018 and 8 in 2017, it shows that the charts are finally in tune with Spotify as to making an enjoyable chart with a relatively fast turnover.

It's doing well considering it's only getting played by 1 Xtra I think??

Great track!!

Where did the Black Keys come from, haven't heard them on radio 1 yet?!

Posted by: WhoOdyssey 9th March 2019, 12:14 AM

Can't see Radio 1 playing The Black Keys outside of the Indie Show - but even they haven't played the new Stereophonics song.

Posted by: Steve201 9th March 2019, 12:26 AM

They supported the last two albums did they not?

Surprised at how well this is doing! Her new album is quite good - hopefully she'll get continued support from BBC Radio 2 and the album will manage to sell somewhat decently.

Posted by: T’Seet 10th March 2019, 09:43 AM

Now I know this is the highest Dido has ever been on iTunes! So pleased for her, I know it doesn’t really mean anything these days but she’s such a lovely woman and the album is amazing.

End Of Night did absolutely nothing IIRC but she wasn’t promoting it that heavily. I can’t remember how Don’t Believe In Love or No Freedom did on iTunes but they charted at 54 and 51 respectively so I doubt they got that high.

She won’t crack the official top 100 of course, with streaming being the dominant force.

I doubt it, Tom Walker will still be doing well and Dave will have a streaming advantage.

Posted by: Steve201 10th March 2019, 10:33 AM

Plus Sigrid and Foals! Sigrid in particular will be heavily front loaded.

Posted by: Cqmerqn 10th March 2019, 10:53 AM

Why will Sigrid be ‘heavily’ front loaded? She’s hardly a fan base act?

Posted by: T’Seet 10th March 2019, 10:56 AM

Yeah to be honest, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Dido ending at 5 like the last album or lower. I’m just so pleased to see her getting an initial fantastic start, she really deserves it.

Posted by: Bjork 10th March 2019, 11:05 AM

yes Sigrid is the opposite of frontloaded

arrow down.gif 137 John Newman - Feelings nocheer.gif

This needs some promo and record company payola for streaming playlists.

Posted by: danG 10th March 2019, 05:36 PM

I think John Newman's very much a has been at this point sadly, no amount of payola is going to make Feelings a proper hit.

Posted by: T’Seet 10th March 2019, 05:37 PM

John Newman was never really any good. Feel The Love was a bop but I’ve hated everything else he ever did.

Posted by: Bjork 10th March 2019, 06:11 PM

Love me Again is his only good solo single, nothing worth it after that

Posted by: GTH 10th March 2019, 06:36 PM

Come and Get It is my fave of his but little interest in following him as an artist. I think most of the public feel the same, though that’s not to say if he brings out something catchy (and its gets plenty of airplay) that people wouldn’t get behind it.

Posted by: dobbo 10th March 2019, 10:12 PM

I’d agree but I learned at the weekend he had something to do with that awful Chalice song that’s been in the charts manson.gif

Posted by: danG 11th March 2019, 11:27 AM

Chalice didn't even make the chart, it just got heavily overplayed by Radio 1. I didn't enjoy that either and Calvin Harris very rarely makes a song I don't like.

I’d like for Giant to get at least one week at the top. He’ll most likely get it when Lewis hits ACR

Posted by: Bré 11th March 2019, 10:51 PM

Chances are 'Giant' will hit ACR at the same time as if not before 'Someone You Loved' (and something will likely have overtaken both of them by then). They're both still gaining at the moment so it won't be for at least another month.

Jack Savoretti up to the Alist on radio 1 from Friday now too. Seems to be gaining a lot of momentum in the last year - album could open with decent numbers next week!

Has Michael Rice's song only just been released now? Not sure what the point of these delays is (I remember the same happened with SuRie last year), not like it's going to be a hit anyway.

I'm pretty sure they usually change the song up a bit, production etc

He always responds so well to TV promotion! This is a result of being on The One Show.
