Can you believe it's Eurovision time once again! Tonight is the first semi final live from Globen in Stockholm, hosted by Petra Mede and last year's winner, Mĺns Zelmerlöw. 18 acts will take to the stage for 10 available spots in the grand final. It's a high quality year and this is the tougher semi of the two. If you're in one of the competing countries you can vote in tonight's show, along with France, Spain and Sweden. Remember that in the UK the semis are now being broacast on BBC Four, with commentary from Scott Mills and Mel Giedroyc AND special guest Sarah Dawn Finer (aka Lynda Woodruff!) So it's time to stock up on the Absolut and Koppabergs for the TV event of the year!! 01 ► Finland: Sandhja - Sing It Away 02 ► Greece: Argo - Utopian Land 03 ► Moldova: Lidia Isac - Falling Stars 04 ► Hungary: Freddie - Pioneer 05 ► Croatia: Nina Kraljić - Lighthouse 06 ► The Netherlands: Douwe Bob - Slow Down 07 ► Armenia: Iveta Mukuchyan - LoveWave 08 ► San Marino: Serhat - I Didn't Know 09 ► Russia: Sergey Lazarev - You Are The Only One 10 ► Czech Republic: Gabriela Gunčíková - I Stand 11 ► Cyprus: Minus One - Alter Ego 12 ► Austria: ZOË - Loin d'ici 13 ► Estonia: Jüri Pootsmann - Play 14 ► Azerbaijan: Samra - Miracle 15 ► Montenegro: Highway - The Real Thing 16 ► Iceland: Greta Salóme - Hear Them Calling 17 ► Bosnia & Herzegovina: Dalal & Deen feat. Ana Rucner and Jala - Ljubav Je 18 ► Malta: Ira Losco - Walk On Water This post has been edited by AdamAloud: 10th May 2016, 10:12 AM |

Ana Rucner and Jala - Ljubav Je 18 ► Malta: Ira Losco - Walk On Water Would happily have any of Czech Republic/Austria/Cyprus in over Moldova/Finland though tbf THINK 01 ► Finland: Sandhja - Sing It Away 02 ► Greece: Argo - Utopian Land 03 ► Moldova: Lidia Isac - Falling Stars 04 ► Hungary: Freddie - Pioneer 05 ► Croatia: Nina Kraljić - Lighthouse 06 ► The Netherlands: Douwe Bob - Slow Down 07 ► Armenia: Iveta Mukuchyan - LoveWave 08 ► San Marino: Serhat - I Didn't Know 09 ► Russia: Sergey Lazarev - You Are The Only One 10 ► Czech Republic: Gabriela Gunčíková - I Stand 11 ► Cyprus: Minus One - Alter Ego 12 ► Austria: ZOË - Loin d'ici 13 ► Estonia: Jüri Pootsmann - Play 14 ► Azerbaijan: Samra - Miracle 15 ► Montenegro: Highway - The Real Thing 16 ► Iceland: Greta Salóme - Hear Them Calling 17 ► Bosnia & Herzegovina: Dalal & Deen feat. Ana Rucner and Jala - Ljubav Je 18 ► Malta: Ira Losco - Walk On Water As always, wishful hoping for Greece. Taking a chance on Azerbaijan with all the reports of terrible vocals (has a title/lyric ever been truer than in this moment) Won't be able to watch live from the start due to work, don't know whether to start watching when I get home and catch up on the rest after, or hold back and catch up in one go (How long will it take to have it up on iPlayer ) |

Jahq, doesn't iPlayer have the 'live restart' option on the website still? You could try that.
I will be enjoying this tonight as a respite from writing my dissertation but for staying productive reasons I don't think I'm going to drink (I will compensate by getting completely trollied on Thursday and Saturday though, dw). Qualifier wise I am saying: IN: Greece, Netherlands, Armenia, Russia, Czechia, Cyprus, Austria, Iceland, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Malta OUT: Finland, Moldova, Hungary, Croatia, San Marino, Estonia, Azerbaijan, Montenegro |

Difficult to predict...I really hope Austria can get through against the odds but I won't miss any of the others predicted to DNQ...no doubt Azerbaijan and Greece will squeak through but I hope the latter will somehow finally miss with that mess.

I will be enjoying this tonight as a respite from writing my dissertation but for staying productive reasons I don't think I'm going to drink (I will compensate by getting completely trollied on Thursday and Saturday though, dw). Likewise, but for exams. As much as I do drink these days anyway. WANT 01 ► Finland: Sandhja - Sing It Away 02 ► Greece: Argo - Utopian Land 03 ► Moldova: Lidia Isac - Falling Stars 04 ► Hungary: Freddie - Pioneer 05 ► Croatia: Nina Kraljić - Lighthouse 06 ► The Netherlands: Douwe Bob - Slow Down 07 ► Armenia: Iveta Mukuchyan - LoveWave 08 ► San Marino: Serhat - I Didn't Know 09 ► Russia: Sergey Lazarev - You Are The Only One 10 ► Czech Republic: Gabriela Gunčíková - I Stand 11 ► Cyprus: Minus One - Alter Ego 12 ► Austria: ZOË - Loin d'ici 13 ► Estonia: Jüri Pootsmann - Play 14 ► Azerbaijan: Samra - Miracle 15 ► Montenegro: Highway - The Real Thing 16 ► Iceland: Greta Salóme - Hear Them Calling 17 ► Bosnia & Herzegovina: Dalal & Deen feat. Ana Rucner and Jala - Ljubav Je 18 ► Malta: Ira Losco - Walk On Water Though part of that is just hoping Russia will get out of the way in being such an obvious winner, it's a cool song. I let my country biases based on who's done well recently get in the way here. It's a very tight margin in this semi, I know I'll be losing at least two or three songs I love - really would like to see Finland, Croatia (for that country bias) and San Marino in too and I can't deny the thought of Czech Republic getting their first qualifier as much as it's a boring song compared to last year. THINK 01 ► Finland: Sandhja - Sing It Away 02 ► Greece: Argo - Utopian Land 03 ► Moldova: Lidia Isac - Falling Stars 04 ► Hungary: Freddie - Pioneer 05 ► Croatia: Nina Kraljić - Lighthouse 06 ► The Netherlands: Douwe Bob - Slow Down 07 ► Armenia: Iveta Mukuchyan - LoveWave 08 ► San Marino: Serhat - I Didn't Know 09 ► Russia: Sergey Lazarev - You Are The Only One 10 ► Czech Republic: Gabriela Gunčíková - I Stand 11 ► Cyprus: Minus One - Alter Ego 12 ► Austria: ZOË - Loin d'ici 13 ► Estonia: Jüri Pootsmann - Play 14 ► Azerbaijan: Samra - Miracle 15 ► Montenegro: Highway - The Real Thing 16 ► Iceland: Greta Salóme - Hear Them Calling 17 ► Bosnia & Herzegovina: Dalal & Deen feat. Ana Rucner and Jala - Ljubav Je 18 ► Malta: Ira Losco - Walk On Water Scared for Cyprus I must admit, if that doesn't make it through this will be a disaster. Cyprus and Greece actually, it's really too good to be their only DNQ. Azerbaijan, I'll be a bit sad to lose that one but it seems inevitable if what I've been hearing is true. Only thing that is a bit off about that prediction for me are those four in the second half, it seems weird that they'd ALL be out when bias has been towards the second half most times but all of them have conceivable reasons to fail. Would love to see Zoe if any out of those four but I can't see it yet. |

I do hope I can be present for this! My housemates were planning a barbecue annoyingly, but the weather seems to have gone to pot so hopefully this can still happen for me! EXCITED.
Genuinely not heard a single song in this semi. |

Struggled to find 10 I like in the first semi but these are the 10 I prefer to go through, Really not liking or clicked at all with Greece

Looks like they are doing an equivalent to Melodifestivalen app voting without it actually counting: http://www.eurovision.tv/page/news?id=vote...our_globe_arena
Seems a bit pointless as we won't be able to see what colour the buildings are without being there unless they put the result on the app, but it could give a good indicator of where the televotes will go if enough people take part (and we can see the results somewhere). |

I dont like the entry myself but i would fall to the floor with shock if Azerbaijan do not qualify. They are one of those countries that seem to be safe each year despite not always having good entries.

Ana Rucner and Jala - Ljubav Je 18 ► Malta: Ira Losco - Walk On Water I'd be very happy with Cyprus too, Armenia have pushed them out of my top 10 due to their amazing rehearsals. In fact I'd be very happy with all of them to qualify except Montenegro, San Marino and Moldova as even Greece and Bosnia have clicked really well with me following rehearsals. THINK 01 ► Finland: Sandhja - Sing It Away 02 ► Greece: Argo - Utopian Land 03 ► Moldova: Lidia Isac - Falling Stars 04 ► Hungary: Freddie - Pioneer 05 ► Croatia: Nina Kraljić - Lighthouse 06 ► The Netherlands: Douwe Bob - Slow Down 07 ► Armenia: Iveta Mukuchyan - LoveWave 08 ► San Marino: Serhat - I Didn't Know 09 ► Russia: Sergey Lazarev - You Are The Only One 10 ► Czech Republic: Gabriela Gunčíková - I Stand 11 ► Cyprus: Minus One - Alter Ego 12 ► Austria: ZOË - Loin d'ici 13 ► Estonia: Jüri Pootsmann - Play 14 ► Azerbaijan: Samra - Miracle 15 ► Montenegro: Highway - The Real Thing 16 ► Iceland: Greta Salóme - Hear Them Calling 17 ► Bosnia & Herzegovina: Dalal & Deen feat. Ana Rucner and Jala - Ljubav Je 18 ► Malta: Ira Losco - Walk On Water Still sticking with my predictions from the other day here, Cyprus could very well take a spot from the likes of Greece or Czech Republic but I'm convinced it will be 10 from the 10 I've bolded and Cyprus. I was going to say that I expect Armenia's odds to be slashed tonight, but they are already shortening quickly. That said, I think they will be second favourites behind Russia at 10pm! |

A statement on the Russian jury voting skandal
QUOTE Following constructive talks between EBU and RTR, Russia’s participating broadcaster, RTR proposed to withdraw the respective jury member who produced the video recording. As a consequence, the EBU declared the voting result of the respective judge invalid. The other four judges submitted a valid jury vote. RTR will have the opportunity to provide a replacement judge for the Grand Final on Saturday 14 May.
In a statement to the EBU, Russian broadcaster RTR expressed regret at the actions of its' juror. RTR has also apologised to Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS and Armenian broadcaster AMPTV for the online broadcast of their performances. During its investigation the EBU sought advice from PwC's independent observer, in line with protocol for the event. The EBU does not consider it a breach of the rules to stream a video online from the jury deliberation, as long as individual rankings, combined rankings or jury points are kept confidential until after the Grand Final. Nevertheless, the EBU regards the actions of the person involved as not in keeping with the spirit of the competition and potentially prejudicial as it imposes a potential risk of accidentally revealing results. The independent notary present at the jury gathering confirmed that the voting was conducted in accordance with the rules. "The broadcast of the Jury Semi-Finals and Jury Final is an internal transmission, not meant for public distribution," said Jon Ola Sand, Executive Supervisor of the Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of the EBU. "The credibility of the professional juries is a critically important aspect of the competition. We are satisfied with RTR's proposal, which reflects their understanding of what is and what isn’t appropriate behaviour of a judge for the Eurovision Song Contest,” said Dr. Frank Dieter Freiling, Chairman of the contest’s governing body, the Reference Group. |

This is actually one of the first times since I started to properly follow Eurovision that I have not heard the majority of the sangs.
I've only heard parts of Russia, Belgium and The Netherlands so far |

Ana Rucner and Jala - Ljubav Je 18 ► Malta: Ira Losco - Walk On Water These might fall too in line with my favourites in certain places but I'll be depressed if Croatia get through and when Iceland get through so it's not all bias. Feel like there should be room for Greece too. |

I'm in my seat ready for this!! I thought I had a nosebleed seat but actually the view is really good. I'm side on at the end of the stage so can't quite see all the led screens that go with the stage
