Hey hey guys, and welcome to the first indie forum contest for 2018. It's Unknown Pleasures 26. A Nuggets will be coming another month but the non-genre restricted contest is coming in first. I welcome all comers and implore you all to be as inspired as possible!

To get started, pick an obscure song and send it to me via PM. (Do NOT post it in this thread or anywhere on the site!) Here are the details I need:

MP3 link: (You can save this for later as long as I have it before the deadline. If you don't send an MP3 link I will harass you via PM/give up and obtain it in a way that does not guarantee good quality! Back in the day when I first entered these, skimping on your MP3 was a good way to come last. Less so these days but it does help.)

The rules are:
1. There's no limit to the genre or length of songs in this contest. There are no policing rules by myself or the mods on this, however, I will say, we are in the indie forum and the objective is to find unusual, wonderful, REALLY obscure and independently sourced pleasures. This is not to discourage anyone from submitting what they want to, but rather inspire you to take a risk on off the wall indie entries. There are no non-qualifiers or any other reason to avoid coming last, and it's just to subtly differentiate this contest from other contests on the board. It's the general indie forum song contest, and I know it's been trying to find its identity for a while now nearly everyone who takes part is also in BJSC, so that's why I'm saying this. We accept everything but if you send something that clearly fits into one of the other genre forums that was obviously just one of your BJSC castoffs, you might get laughed at. And no one wants that, unless you... do.

2. The artist or band of your choice must not have ever reached the UK Top 75 singles chart or the UK Top 40 albums chart. It should go without saying that any artist with even a sniff of getting anywhere near this should be blacklisted.

3. The song must not be on the current UK release schedule, whatever that consists of anymore.

4. The song must not have been previously sent to http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=139865, http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=193320, or http://www.buzzjack.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=104463. The lists are in those links, please check them so the mods don't have to! Bear in mind that unless their entry was so long ago that Mikey wasn't senile and low-profile enough that even Bré might not remember them, submitting an artist that has been sent to one of the contests before has a good chance to get you vetoed also.

5. If two people choose the same artist or band, the one who submitted their entry first will be allowed to enter the act. As with #4, you're highly encouraged to enter an act that has never been submitted here - note Unknown.

6. The Indie forum moderators have the right to refuse an entry if they feel it goes against the spirit of the competition.

7. Do NOT, under any circumstance, reveal or even hint at your entry at any point during the contest - again, note Unknown.

The deadline to sign up is SUNDAY, MARCH 25th 23:59 GMT. You can reserve a spot now if you don't have a song yet, just leave a post in this thread. There's a general limit of 30 entries, at the discretion of the mods once we see how many are interested.

I think I already have just the song for this... as far as I can tell it shouldn't be vetoed either

Edit: Torn between entering it in this or BJSC 104 Hmm..

Confirmed! I found this artist about three years ago and bookmarked a song of theirs to send to BJSC if I ever had an AQ. But they came out with something even better recently and it just feels right to send it to this. Here's hoping for a better performance than my debut.

I'll need to get my thinking hat on for what to enter. My BJSC entry would probably have been better served in here had I thought about it.

(I actually kind of struggle to recognise song titles from even the more recent editions of UP and Nuggets sometimes though!! It's only BJSC where I have a photographic memory of every song ever sent)

God I love the artwork for Your Name so much. I love vistas with striking skies and that film really delivers on that.

I was planning to give 2 weeks to vote as that's common with UP, and it'll give you guys time to fully appreciate the songs. Plus put final voting week in what would likely be a dead week for BJSC, which was part of my plan.

I confirmed something that I always wanted to send to BJSC but I never did it, so I feel it's perfect for UP...it's very catchy and have a good feeling about it.
