In the least shocking event of 2017, P!nk has another #1 single in Australia, also the sky is blue. Nonetheless, "What About Us" easily gives her a 9th #1, and unlike a lot of her recent ones, looks to stick there for more than one week with huge digital sales though admittedly lagging streams. Even Australia's adoration of P!nk is not immune to the indistinguishable blur of country by country streaming popularity and she's only reached #32 on Spotify so far. In saying that, we do have a new streaming #1 this week via Macklemore who has previously topped the chart with "Thrift Shop", "Same Love" & "Can't Hold Us", now he's just one spot shy of scoring a 5th ARIA #1 as "Glorious" moves to #2. There's not much else to note in the top 10. Louis Tomlinson comes closer to catching up as the only 1D member yet to score a top 10 solo hit. Avicii is also back in credited action on the chart for the first time since 2015. Unlike the UK, everything is powering behind "Without You" and the Rita Ora collab is nowhere to be seen.

It's one of those fortunate weeks where Ed Sheeran isn't #1 on the album chart too. Quite a week at that too as the new #1 comes from none other than Paul Kelly, among the most beloved & respected musicians this country has ever produced. What makes this a landmark is that in his 40 year spanning career, this is Paul Kelly's first ever #1 album. The closest he got was 20 years ago with his huge Greatest Hits collection which is pretty much a staple in Australian households. He's not the only one reaching new heights this week though, because we can also note Kesha who scores her highest ever album, as "Animal" peaked at #4 on debut, and "Warrior" at #12. We also have another local debut in the top 5 with Jen Cloher's second album becoming her first chart entry, all the way up at #5. Next week looks likely to keep Australia on top and maybe Sheeran to an all time low of #3 or even #4, as Paul Kelly looks to sell well into a second week, and there'll be big new entries from Gang Of Youths and Thy Art Is Murder.

In an unsurprising turn, Australia still continues to be rather fond of P!nk. It is worth noting though that "What About Us" landing a 2nd week at the top is relatively noteworthy, as among P!nk's 9 #1 hits, 4 of them have just 1 week at the top. In doing so, she stops Justin Bieber from notching another one for the time being, just like his previous BloodPop collaboration "Sorry", it debuts at #2 behind a major release. It would look like there'll be some further pressure on these songs as next week you can certainly expect a #1 debut from Taylor Swift which isn't showing any signs of being a one week affair like it may be in the UK. Speaking of which, the UK's current #1 "New Rules" reaches the top 10, which is Dua Lipa's 2nd top 10 after "Be The One". Also of note this week is Demi Lovato reaching #14 with "Sorry Not Sorry", which is her highest chart peak, tied with two features in "Somebody To You" and "Up". She looks likely to surpass those next week with top 10 in sight.

As expected, it's a big week for locals on the album chart. Debuting at the top is Gang Of Youths with their second studio album. They've previously charted at #5 with their debut in 2015, and #2 with an EP in 2016, but now they safely see the top spot, and well deserved too as one of the best bands in the country at the moment. Paul Kelly also shows strong sales again to stay at #2, so "Divide" is down to #3 for the second time ever. The ever prolific King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard are back again with their 3rd new album this year, and yet again they're landing in the top 5. On the heavier side of things, local act Thy Art Is Murder debut at #5, their highest position yet, while US emo icons Brand New see a huge new chart height of #6 with their comeback album. They've only previously reached #40 with their 2009 album "Daisy". Keeping up what is a good week for many varieties of rock, we've also got a top 10 debut for Welsh pop punk band Neck Deep, their first time reaching such heights. Rock fans have not run out of new albums to buy either, as next week we'll see if Queens Of The Stone Age can pick up a 2nd #1 album. Also looking out for strong debuts are The War On Drugs, and local act Gordi.

You'll not be shocked at all to learn that "Look What You Made Me Do" has also debuted in Australia. It's unstoppable on both digital and streaming, and given the fact that there isn't anything on the chart that is particularly strong on both components, it'll probably take another big release to replace it. This is her 5th #1 album, the majority being from "1989". Most of the top 10 is sliding down to accommodate it, but Dua Lipa bucks the trend with "New Rules" moving up to #6. This matches the peak set by "Be The One" last year, which was similarly unlucky to reach its peak on the week a big track made its place in the top 5 (that being Prince's "Purple Rain"). Demi Lovato's "Sorry Not Sorry" is now her highest charting single outright, while looking primed for top 10 glory next week. Khalid is slowly taking over the chart, having first entered the top 50 less than 4 months ago, and already accumulating 5 top 50 hits, 4 of which are there this week. "Young Dumb & Broke" has a big climb, "Silence" vaults into the top 40, and the Logic song re-enters with a new peak. Camila Cabello has also had 5 top 50 entries though she took a little longer to get to this point. "Havana" gets a big boost in streams this week and jumps past "Crying In The Club"'s peak. I'm also particularly pleased to see Portugal. The Man climb into the top 50, having never charted before, though they released my favourite song of 2011.

Both charts are treated to new entries at the top this week, as weeks with "Divide" at #1 begin to be the minority. Taking top honours is Queens Of The Stone Age, who have regularly hit the top 10 since their 3rd album "Songs For The Deaf" in 2002. They hit #1 in 2013 with their 6th album "...Like Clockwork", and now they've done it again with "Villains". Paul Kelly amazingly keeps in the top 2 for a 3rd week in a row. Next highest on the debut front is The War On Drugs, who considerably improve upon the #28 peak of "Lost In The Dream" with their latest album hitting #5. A local act who I liken to a less boring Vance Joy in Kim Churchill, whose second album becomes his first top 10. Though they've not managed a top 50 single on this year, Fifth Harmony retain a loyal fanbase that provides them with a top 10 debut, though 1 place lower than last year's "7/27". I can't say for sure who'll be #1 next week, but it looks to be a good week for various music fans over 30, with new albums by Neil Finn, The Script & LCD Soundsystem. In the wake of a Carole King musical opening this month, her huge album "Tapestry" is currently #1 on iTunes so expect a big climb on next week's chart.

No change at the top, with a second week for "Look What You Made Me Do", Taylor also has the top debut for a second week with "...Ready For It?" at #3. Next week we'll likely see another #1 debut but from Sam Smith, who has yet to reach #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart, his highest charting single being "Lay Me Down" which reached #3. Elsewhere, Demi Lovato scores her first ever top 10 hit with "Sorry Not Sorry". There's just one more new entry via Maroon 5's cover of "Sexual", otherwise it's a slow week. On the album chart, Sheeran is back at #1 due to streaming with Paul Kelly having the top sales of the week. The Script have the highest debut of the week. They have a tendency to release albums on very busy weeks so this is the first time they've done this, despite the fact that "Rain" has not charted here at all. LCD Soundsystem also score their first top 10 album by the narrowest of margins, and also because ARIA aren't counting XXXTENTACION's streams for some reason (which is also why "Jocelyn Flores" isn't in the top 50). Vance Joy also gets a big boost on both charts thanks to a TV appearance. It looks likely we'll have a #1 debut next week, with a battle between Jack Johnson, The National & Anthony Callea.

For the first time ever, Sam Smith has a #1 single in Australia. He also helps create some notable history for his persuasion, as Anthony Callea's debut at #1 means this is the first time that two different gay men have ruled both charts simultaneously. There has previously been a similar instance 20 years ago though it was the case of George Michael leading both charts himself, it's to your own discretion which is a more impressive and/or peculiar feat. Either way it's curiously well timed as Australia is currently undergoing a nationwide postal survey which will hopefully allow same-sex marriage to finally be recognised here. Back on the single chart, there's some noteworthy news to report with Dua Lipa scoring her first ever top 5 hit in "New Rules", one can only imagine that "Be The One" could do the same if it had the same synchronised Spotify playlist support since it was a hit in Australia long before most other countries. ZAYN also scores his 3rd top 10 hit which is also Sia's 10th with "Dusk Till Dawn". Logic is seeing a big discrepency between sales & streams (well, he has been for months) but he now has a 2nd top 10 hit after "Sucker For Pain", while Alessia Cara has her 3rd & Khalid his 1st. Khalid just generally has hits everywhere at the moment and also scores a top 20 hit with "Young Dumb & Broke". With Lorde's remix set to hit the top 50 next week, he could end up with 5 top 50 hits at once provided "Location" doesn't drop out.

As previously mentioned, Anthony Callea is #1 on the album chart, this being his 3rd stint there. His first was scored back in 2005 on the back of his runner up finish on the second season of Australian Idol, while the second one was about a year ago and set a new record for the lowest selling #1 album at the time. As the title suggests, the tracklisting is exclusively ARIA #1 singles, and is headed by BuzzJack favourite "All Of Me", setting the tone for primarily ballads. Unfortunately "Harlem Shake", "Here's Johnny", "Gangnam Style" or "Thrift Shop" did not make the setlist, what can you do? Because of that very vital musical release, The National are held to their 2nd #2 peaking album in a row, previously having made the unwise decision to release on the same week as Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories". Jack Johnson keeps his run of top 3 album peaks alive seemingly thanks to some handy TV promo which shot his album up to be the #1 digital seller of the week. This is his 7th top 3 album, and he's previously hit #1 4 times. I don't quite comprehend what works in the world of country music & pop music that is marketed as country music in Australia, because Kip Moore has managed a top 10 debut here, while this week's US #1 from Thomas Rhett is only #30. Britons Nothing But Thieves make good progress with peaks having improved 15 places on their debut album to land at #12 this week. Next week, Australia is Australia which means the Foo Fighters will debut at #1. Angus & Julia Stone thus must resign to a #2 peak for releasing on this same week. Otherwise perhaps look out for Prophets Of Rage & BTS to unknown extents, and London Grammar are poised for a big top 50 re-entry as their tour here commences.

We're currently seeing some massive dissonance between digital & streaming markets. #1 on the streaming chart was Logic but he's not even top 20 on iTunes, while the top seller of the week P!nk isn't top 20 on streaming either. What it comes down to here is who's managing consistently, which just happens to be Sam Smith, sitting at #1 despite not being #1 or even #2 on either category. Dua Lipa gets a similar stroke of luck that sees her up to a new peak of #2 with "New Rules". Post Malone now stands at #1 on Spotify by quite a way, but without much to show for it on sales. Still it's enough to see him debut in the top 10 which is a first for both him & 21 Savage. Lauv also makes his slow crawl into the top 10 this week. Portugal. The Man have the biggest move of the week as "Feel It Still" moves up into the top 20, with more upward movement poised as it's now top 10 combined on iTunes. Niall Horan has his 3rd top 50 single, but despite reaching #1 on iTunes upon release (which is a first for him), slow streaming gives him his lowest debut to date. The remix of "Homemade Dynamite" gives Lorde her 3rd top 50 entry this year, while Skrillex has his first top 50 hit in just over a year (and 8th overall), as he brings longtime behind the scenes songwriter Poo Bear with him on "Would You Ever". In a gracious moment, both "Riptide" and "Thinking Out Loud" are out of the top 100, so the oldest current charter is "Can't Stop The Feeling!", one of 6 songs that have charted every week this year so far (alongside "Redbone", "Starboy", "Closer", "Say You Won't Let Go" and "I Don't Wanna Live Forever").

On the album chart we have a new #1 as expected, with the ever-reliable chart force of the Foo Fighters picking up their 7th #1 album. All 6 of their studio albums this century and also their Greatest Hits set have done so, and in typical Foo Fighters fashion, the album is instantly certified gold. Up behind them is a local debut for Angus & Julia Stone, who perhaps should have chosen a different week to release as their last two albums safely debuted at #1. A stirring Like A Version performance shoots Gang Of Youths back up the chart for a 5th week in the top 10, contrast this to their first album which dropped out of the top 50 on its 4th week. Korean boyband BTS also debut in the top 10 which is possibly the first Korean album to do so. Last year we had BABYMETAL set a new bar for Japanese artists at #7. Next week's #1 battle is a complete toss up. Foo Fighters may be able to retain it, but Ed Sheeran's persistence can't be denied either. Then there's the debuts from Macklemore & The Killers which will pose a threat. Macklemore has yet to score a #1 album, while The Killers haven't done so since "Hot Fuss".

Interesting at how a total of now 13 different songs have peaked at #2 on the ARIA chart, compared to the 12 of the UK chart (with ACR) and just 3 on the Billboard chart. Like you said, I think the main reason for this is the such wide disparity between sales and streaming charts in Australia. It's certainly more interesting to watch the chart in terms of #2s, much more than #1s.

I'm going to make a bit of a prediction now that New Rules, 1-800-273-8255, Good Old Days, I Like Me Better, Rockstar, Havana, and Too Much To Ask will add to the #2 peaking songs on the list on here.

If you haven't been following Australian current affairs, we've got a bit of a doozy on our hands that will manifest itself in next week's chart. For the time being, we have a curious case where the #1 single wasn't top 20 on downloads, and the #1 seller isn't top 10 on the overall chart. Such is the severe dissonance between the two component charts at the moment, Post Malone's high streaming can compensate to take him to #1. This week we had new albums from Macklemore & The Killers, and they see strong impact on the singles chart this week, but this is just the warm up, as both acts were briefly in Australia to play at the NRL & AFL Grand Finals respectively, which, both on the same weekend, are the two biggest sporting events in the country. Macklemore's performance was of particular note, because you might recall us formerly having Tony Abbott as prime minister. He hasn't fully gone away so he created quite a stir about Macklemore on the basis of his song "Same Love", since Australia is currently undergoing a postal vote on whether or not to allow same sex marriage, and said former prime minister is very much against it. Because Australia is Australia, the resultant discourse from this political stir is that "Same Love" shot to #1 on iTunes, days before Macklemore even performed, and it has now been #1 for a whole week. It will have to overcome Post Malone's mighty streams, but it is entirely possible that Macklemore's former #1 single from 5 years ago could re-enter at #1 next week. The Killers were moderately less controversial and should see "Mr. Brightside" and perhaps other singles re-enter the chart. If you're reading this from the UK, that probably doesn't sound special, but over here, despite the track's immense popularity, it has not re-entered the chart once since 2005.

Both acts are the main story of the album chart as well, with The Killers coming out on top. "Wonderful Wonderful" is their 2nd #1 album after "Hot Fuss", and their first album to debut there. They have been previously unlucky to release on inauspicious weeks against Evanescence in 2006, and P!nk in 2012. It also means Macklemore continues to be alluded by the #1 position on the album chart, with his latest album entering at #3. He previously reached #2 with "The Heist", buoyed by having 3 colossal hits back to back to back. Local band British India debut at #12 with their 6th album, which ends their streak of top 10 albums that started with their 2nd in 2008. I've pretty much grown up with this band and got to see them live in my town last year so I endorse their work. Next week we'll see if either of this week's debuts can maintain off the back of their football performances, but otherwise we'll see Miley Cyrus & Shania Twain both hoping to score their 3rd #1 album. The passing of Tom Petty will also likely affect the chart as his Greatest Hits set currently leads iTunes.

That would be quite something if 'Same Love' re-entered at #1 officially off the back of the same-sex marriage postal vote. I just hope for Australia that they say Yes but I reckon it'll be as close as Brexit in either direction. I reckon Post will stay at #1 though.

Come for nonsense on the charts in 2017 and be greeted by the status quo. "Rockstar" continues to fall on the digital tracks chart (though it has risen stupendously in the coming week) and dominates streaming and thus the chart for another week. Off the back of Macklemore's NRL performance, "Glorious" returns to its #2 peak and off the back of our most recent former PM's gaffes, "Same Love" returns all the way up at #4, and is also #1 without a challenge on the digital tracks chart for the first time since it topped the chart back in early 2013. Perhaps the true cosmic moment of glory is that "Can't Hold Us" re-enters at the fitting position of #69. In standard chart news, we've got Camila Cabello scoring a top 10 hit with "Havana", her first solo following two top 10 hits with Fifth Harmony. Khalid scores his first lead artist top 10 hit while his first featured artist top 10 retains a top 10 position as well. It's a week of remixes to bolster current hits with "Mi Gente" shooting up to a new peak of #11 thanks to Beyonce and "HUMBLE." rebounding a bit thanks to Skrillex. Time will tell if these potentially short lived remixes will retain their crediting on the chart, ARIA has had a habit in the past of not doing the right thing in that regard. Thanks to their AFL performance, The Killers return to the top 50 singles chart for the first time in about 9 years. Unfortunately, for no good reason, ARIA is not counting "Mr. Brightside"'s streams, so this boost is not properly representative, and will be very short-lived even though it should last several more weeks in the chart. At least they have included streams for their other past hits which find their way back lower down. Tom Petty's "Free Fallin'" also finds its first time into the chart (though John Mayer's cover narrowly missed the top 50) as the rock icon passed away last week.

It goes without saying that Shania Twain is a fair bit popular in Australia. "Come On Over" spent over a year consecutively in the top 10 some 20 years ago. "Up" couldn't maintain the same sales but it still debuted at #1, and now "Now" gives her a 3rd #1 album. The puns pretty much write themselves at this point because for younger fans of slightly country-tinged pop, Miley Cyrus's latest album might have been the place to go, and "Younger Now" debuts at #2. Miley has been a strong album seller here for all parts of her career, and just misses out on her 3rd #1 album. For fans of covers albums & Australian pop rock from the early '90s, there's a collaborative album from Rick Price & Jack Jones debuting at #7, just ahead of Demi Lovato whose streams have not been included and thus should have had her debut at #7 #justariathings Regardless of the kerfuffle, it's her 2nd top 10 album after 2015's "Confident" came in at #3. The Killers also see their Greatest Hits set smash into the top 10, having previously debuted and peaked at #30. Next week perhaps look out for a new #1 via either the latest Like A Version album, or maybe the second installment of Jessica Mauboy's "The Secret Daughter" soundtracks.

Relative normalcy returns to the chart with all the chaos of last week subsided. With digital sales for it booming, Post Malone is showing no signs of stopping at #1, especially since he's pulling the 2nd biggest numbers ever on Spotify at the moment, yesterday's figures have him only 10K behind "Shape Of You"'s biggest day. Incidentally, this means misfortune and possibly a 4th #2 hit from Divide coming as "Perfect" is perched at #1 on iTunes but not making impressive gains on Spotify as of yet. He does however outpace his original debut position as it climbs to #4. This week however, the closest competitor to the top spot is Camila Cabello, whose "Havana" has a big jump to #2, meaning that it actually outpeaks "Work From Home" and becomes her highest chart position to date. In what is one of the strangest things I've typed for this, Portugal. The Man score their first top 10 hit with "Feel It Still", while of less interest is Macklemore scoring his 7th with "Good Old Days". Post Malone's "Congratulations" goes double platinum this week having spent about half a year in the top 50 now, but "I Fall Apart" enters the top 50 for the first time this week and instantly outpeaks "Congratulations". After many close weeks, Cardi B finally cracks the top 50 this week meaning that the last Hot 100 #1 hit to not make the top 50 here goes back to being "Dark Horse", or if you don't want to count that, Ludacris's "Money Maker" from 2006.

On the album chart, for the 5th year in a row, the latest triple j Like A Version CD debuts at #1. The 38 song tracklisting is comprised of mostly Australian artists with some international exceptions in Glass Animals, Milky Chance, Kasabian, Bishop Briggs, PUP, Margaret Glasby, AURORA, Maggie Rogers, Haim & Asgeir. In one of the closest battles for #1 in some time, the runner up spot goes to Jessica Mauboy with the soundtrack to the latest season of The Secret Daughter, which of course contains her #11 hit single "Fallin'". The first series' soundtrack debuted at #1. For the rest of the top 10 debuts, '90s nostalgia lives large. Marilyn Manson debuts at #4 with his latest album which is his 6th top 10 and 2nd highest charter behind only his 1998 #1 "Mechanical Animals". Also in the top 10 is Liam Gallagher with his first solo album. Debuting at #9, it lands 1 spot lower than Noel Gallagher's latest album did. Oasis scored 6 top 10 albums and 2 #1's in their time. Post Malone's year old album also climbs into the top 10 this week, helped largely by being the second most streamed album of the week. At the current rate, it may overtake Divide on that regard next week. But of course none of the matters with regard to the top spot, because P!nk has released a new album and thus will ask for a residency there for most of the rest of the year probably. In classic P!nk fashion she's already announced an extensive tour for next year which includes 6 different arena shows across a whole week in both Melbourne and Sydney.

In a bit of a rush this week, but there's not much to note. Post Malone remains at #1 and P!nk debuts at #1 with the 2nd highest sales week of the year, so they'll probably stay at #1 the next week. Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile's collaborative album gives Courtney a 2nd top 5 album, and Kurt his first top 10. Looking to enter strongly next week is Niall Horan's debut album + lots of George Michael stuff.

Post Malone has a 5th week at #1, but his time may be running out sooner than expected. With the added boost of the video release, "Havana" is getting quite a digital boost and isn't too far behind on streaming, so it could be a close battle between the two next week. Khalid scores his 2nd top 5 hit and highest overall with "Young Dumb & Broke" up to #4, while Portugal. The Man also move into the top 5 with "Feel It Still". Taylor Swift gets another top 10 debut with "Gorgeous", though with increasingly diminishing returns. Her first single this year debuted at 3^0, the second at 3^1, and the third at 3^2, so perhaps expect a #27 debut in the near future. Niall Horan gets big boosts due to his album release, while Spotify trick everyone into listening to Christian rap, as for the 2nd week in a row we have a top 50 entry titled "Let You Down". For the second time ever, Dean Lewis scores a top 50 hit by re-entering the top 100 at #50. 12 weeks late, ARIA finally lets "Bank Account" onto the chart, meanwhile "Jocelyn Flores" is still egregiously missing, and "XO TOUR Llif3" is still not getting a good percentage of its streams counted correctly.

P!nk unsurprisingly remains at #1 for a 2nd week, meaning that Niall Horan can 'only' debut at #2, only the 2nd One Direction-related album to miss the top spot after "Made In The A.M.". Trivium's latest album debuts at #4, matching their previous best peaking album, "Shogun" in 2008. The George Michael doco made it over here as well, and he has a big return to the chart at #5. Next week will probably see P!nk at #1 again, with competition for the #2 spot coming from 360 and Chris Brown.

Post Malone notches a 6th week at #1. With "Havana" making steady progress on sales & streaming, it may be the last week at the top though it'll certainly be close. In the meantime, Post Malone has a second top 10 hit via "I Fall Apart" with the only other change in the top 10 being Macklemore's return with "Good Old Days" which also reaches a new peak in the process. On the quick side of notching up multiple hits, Marshmello reaches the top 15 for the first time this week, and for the second time, with "Silence" climbing and "Wolves" debuting. In its 35th week charting, "Congratulations" returns to its peak of #30. On the album chart we have P!nk prevailing for a 3rd week. I can't say for certain if she'll be there next week as Sam Smith will no doubt make some sort of splash. For now the highest debut this week is the 4th album from local rapper 360. He lands inbetween his last two albums, which peaked at #4 & #2. Chris Brown scores his 6th top 5 album, though he's yet to have a #1, while Kelly Clarkson misses the top 5 for the first time since her debut album, though she persists with her top 10 streak as she debuts at #6. Oddly, Hanson return to the charts for the first time this century with a Christmas album. They previously debuted at #3 with a Christmas album 20 years ago, on a notably competitive week where the top 4 were all new entries. The only other artists on both of those charts are Midnight Oil & Paul Kelly. Also for a rare case, Ed Sheeran doesn't have the most streamed album, as Post Malone has finally caught up to him on that regard.

Man's Not Hot actually making an (albeit small) impact outside of the UK laugh.gif Is a future top 40 hit possible?

Post Malone seemingly more popular in Aus than in UK too, shame it looks as if Camila will struggle to claim a week at #1.

Big Shaq could get there laugh.gif , he's doing well on sales & streaming, just needs a slight push to get into the Aus top 50 on Spotify and that's probably all he needs. I think it's already pretty much the biggest 'grime' hit here lol. The closest I can think of is Dizzee's "I Don't Need A Reason" which barely cracked the top 100. Skepta & Stormzy are popular here but they've not charted yet.

I also think Havana is a very strong chance to get to #1 this week or next. The gap between the two songs dropped significantly this week, and Camila's slimming the margin by roughly 10-15K each day on Spotify.

Post Malone holds #1 for a 7th week, but once again it may be the last as the margins are continually slipping with "Havana" poised to take it. He does now however hold the top 2 tracks on Spotify as "I Fall Apart" is still climbing there. Maroon 5 score their 10th top 10 hit with "What Lovers Do" off the back of the album release and should stay there for at least one more week. Marshmello gets his first top 10 hit and Khalid's 3rd with "Silence"'s long climb finally arriving in the top 10. "Wolves" has the potential to get there as well next week. N*E*R*D return to the top 50 for the first time in 13 years with "Lemon" while also improving the quality of the chart we've got Rita Ora & Big Shaq entering as well.

In a reasonably close battle, P!nk retains the #1 spot for a 4th week. This is unfortunate times for Sam Smith who just like with his first album, he debuts at #2, unable to catch the incumbent #1 (last time it was Coldplay's 2nd week at #1). "In The Lonely Hour" did eventually reach #1 though so who's to say that can't happen here too? Sam Smith can take solace that he has the most streamed album of the week. It does seem highly likely that P!nk will surrender the top spot next week and I don't think I need to tell you why. Last week the original American Idol Kelly Clarkson scored her 6th top 10 album, this week the original Australian Idol Guy Sebastian has his 9th, also landing slightly higher than his last album despite having a bit more trouble scoring hits this time around. Not the only local debut in the top 10 either, as on the heavier side of things we have Polaris scoring their first top 10 album. Maroon 5 score their 6th top 10 album but by only landing at #7, it's their equal lowest charting album alongside 2010's "Hands All Over". As we've got an Elvis + Orchestra album re-entering the top 50, one with Roy Orbison debuts in the top 10. This is the first time Roy Orbison has appeared in the top 10 in Australia in 28 years.

There were roughly 10 chart points between the top two this week. Unlike in the UK's "Groove Is In The Heart"/"The Joker" battle, it's resolved with both parties getting a turn at the top. So Camila Cabello & Young Thug both get their first ever #1 with "Havana". Given that this probably wouldn't have happened with the Daddy Yankee remix, he has amazingly been involved with 2 #1 hits this year. Marshmello's hits continue to rise so he now has two in the top 10 simultaneously. "Wolves" becomes both his and Selena Gomez's 2nd top 10 hits of the year. On the other hand, it's the first time in the top 10 for a long time for Eminem & Beyonce. Their new collaboration "Walk On Water" debuts at #10, which is Eminem's first time there since "The Monster" in 2013, and amazingly Beyonce's first top 10 hit since "Run The World (Girls)" also hit #10 in 2011. It's also quite fun because #10 is colloquially (mainly for me) Eminem's favourite chart position, primarily calling back to "Not Afraid" spending 8 weeks there, never dropping off no matter how low it got on iTunes at the time. Avicii's "Lonely Together" probably should have entered the chart around the week it came out, but ARIA have just now decided to acknowledge it, right as "Without You" plummets out of the top 50. Thanks to a very belated rise into the Spotify top 50, Halsey's "Bad At Love" returns to the official top 50, now without the help of the Dillon Francis remix.

To the shock of nobody, Taylor Swift debuts at #1 without a threat. "reputation" is her 4th consecutive #1 album, having debuted at #1 with every album since "Speak Now". "Fearless" unluckily peaked at #2. It also wouldn't be November without a new Kerser album, who for the 5th year in a row, gets a top 10 peaker in the process. If it counts as a studio album, Evanescence keep up their perfect run of top 10 albums. In a run of very long titled albums, there's a new live Cold Chisel album in the top 10, while Pnau narrowly miss the top 10, but also narrowly reach a new peak in the album charts of #11. There's nothing big on the way as far as debuts come, so Taylor will almost certainly hold #1, but with a big live boost, Paul Kelly & Lorde should shoot up the charts, as should AC/DC with the news of Malcolm Young's passing.

No change at the top this week, and with thanks to the new remix, Camila slightly extending her lead with "Havana". She might be surrendering the top spot this week as the video release for "rockstar" has helped give it a digital boost, once again it'll be close. We actually have 3 artists with 2 tracks in the top 10 and each artist has those two songs adjacent. This means that Marshmello is blocking himself from the top 5 and Post Malone is blocking himself from the top 2. Speaking of Post Malone, "Congratulations" in its 38th week on the chart has once again hit its old peak position of #30. We'll have the ARIA Awards impacting next week's chart, but leading up to that, Pnau score their 3rd top 50 hit with "Go Bang" this week.

Taylor Swift holds #1 though with a significant drop off from last week's sales, so P!nk may be able to reclaim it which is my way of saying 'for the love of all that is good, not Buble again'. Speaking of Christmas though, Sia scores her 4th top 10 album with her new album of original Christmas songs. Tim McGraw & Faith Hill's collaborative album also does well, scoring Tim his highest ever chart position of #9, and seeing Faith Hill back in the top 10 for the first time in 15 years. A re-packaging sends Tame Impala's most recent album back into the top 20, while as expected, Paul Kelly & Lorde have big boosts. Though they look just about ready to leave the top 50 this week, next week will no doubt see a massive boost for Gang Of Youths after taking the ARIA Award for Album Of The Year, bumping Taylor Swift off the top spot on iTunes no less.

In yet another close battle it's "Havana" on top, for its 3rd and likely last week. No doubt this week we'll also succumb to "Perfect", for which Beyonce may or may not be credited but no one will give a shit either way I'm sure. Last week we were at peak diversity with 3 artists having consecutive songs in the top 10, this week it comes with the bonus that the songs aren't even moving on the chart. Next week the top 10 should be disrupted by NF's manbaby anthem "Let You Down" which is the latest song to take the Spotify payola to radio/digital success route. Florida Georgia line now have two songs in the top 50 thanks to Bebe Rexha, and will likely climb a lot in the coming weeks with strong digital sales. Entering the top 50 for the first time is BTS, with "Mic Drop" just barely sneaking into the top 50, after "DNA" just barely snuck into the top 100.

Christmas sales start to kick in for the album chart and P!nk seems like she's lining the most Christmas trees this year (though nothing says I love you like buying a 6 year old Michael Buble album) so she returns for a 5th week at #1. This week's ARIA Charts basically were an advertisement for Daryl Braithwaite, who was inducted into the Hall Of Fame the same week he had a new Greatest Hits set out, an insane coincidence. Also getting big boosts were Gang Of Youths & Harry Styles who performed there. Little Mix's re-package sends their latest album back to #11. Next week U2 will probably have the highest new entry, but look like missing #1 with a traditionally released album for the first time in a long time.
